I think he did well at Derby in his first season, but he should have remained there for at least another season, or cut his trade at another championship club, gaining that crucial experience before making the move to an EPL club. While he was a great player (arguably the central figure in that iconic Chelsea team of the mid to late 2000s) one year in senior management was too soon to make such a big move, and unfortunately it seems as if his managerial career has been on a gradual downward trajectory ever since.

I have never watched Thogden and on the basis of him putting my beloved Claudio in the awful list, i never will. On the topic of Claudio, can you do a 'what on earth has happened to Leicester City?!' video please. Going from title winners, FA Cup, community shield winners and Europa conference league semi finalists to a relegation scrap all within 7 years, is quite impressive. (7 years ago yesterday we won the PL - and now im sad).

TIFO have just done something similar. Also not sure how in depth you could go when it's literally, don't rip up your entire structure and model to satisfy a mediocre coach who bottles things with more consistency than spurs

As an Everton supporter not surprised this opened up with Lampard, he definitely was allowed to stay on too long after the 21-22 relegation battle, leading to the 22-23 relegation battle. And then he failed upward getting the Chelsea job back and stinking up the joint there too. So often good players do not make good coaches.
Bro, I prefer you over many other football KZbinr. It might not mean much. I do enjoy your explanation and presentation.

He did a great job in his first season at Chelsea and kept Everton up last season. And after sacking him they're not any better under Dyche so he wasn't the problem. But yes, he shouldn't have come back to Stamford Bridge. It's been a disaster.

That’s one of your funniest videos Alfie, in case you missed it, Thogden and Thogdad have an incisive video on the best/worst third kits, amazing journalism... Have you considered a video on ... Ex Watford managers, where are they now? However to condense this into 30 odd minutes, may be a push.

Why Avram Grant is not in the list? I guess the only one that relegated with two teams - Portsmouth and West Ham(that had a squad worth European qualification). Yes he reached Champions League final with Chelsea, but it was thanks to his assistant
@BOABModels Жыл бұрын
He was a great manager for Portsmouth - we had a points deduction due to administration, no money to spend. Grant wasn't there the whole season BUT got us to the FA cup final. We only lost 1-0 to League winners Chelsea as well.

I do have to admit thogden is overheated. Yeah his football knowledge is not the best, but he makes quality content. His football vlogs are class and helps viewers embrace football culture from every parts of the world ranging from the ultras in Germany to Morocco to saudi arabia and more. He goes to a lot of derbys like the old firm, Milan, London, etc , watched a lot of champions league ties, went all the way to morocco after falling in love with them in the world cup to watch their clubs, watched a lot of europa league, watched every world cup match, and he makes sure to film every minute of it. Even after all this he makes sure to watch his own club back in league one and films his experience there. The vast difference of the football matches he goes really makes me appreciate the amount of work he puts his videos into.

Am not a Gerrard fan as a manager, but I think he deserves some credit in the SPL for bringing in a really good assistant coach, and being pretty upfront about the fact he needed him at Rangers to account for his own shortcomings and experience - in a way this is a sign of a good younger manager. However he really wasn't great in the EPL, this is true. If he'd showed the same humility and kept a good mgt team around him, he might still have a job somewhere.

Fun Facts: 1.The shortest Premier League managers right now is happen to be Spurs' Cristian Stellini, who only managed in 4 games for 30 days with the club. However, his departure was even shocking because of the fact he was an interim manager. Frank Lampard might join as well if he failed to prevent the relegation for Chelsea. 2.If Chelsea and Everton ended up being relegated, Frank Lampard will be the second only manager in an English top flight football to do so for just single season. The other one was former Celtic legend Billy McNeill, who did this with Manchester City and Aston Villa back in 1986-87. 3.The only club to had a multiple manager changes in one season was Schalke 04. They had 5 different managers back in 2020-21 (David Wagner, Manuel Baum, Huub Stevens, Christian Gross, Dimitrios Grammozis). The club also endured the worst ever season, with only 3 wins and had the longest winless streaks.
