This is completely false. Sheikh Hasina and her party are trying to take some revenge on those whom they humiliated for 14 years. But somehow they are attacking the Hindus instead the Muslims are protecting their places of worship. Even if Hasina escaped, her party terrorists could not escape and they are the ones who attack the minority and blame others because they want to present Bangladesh as a terrorist country. To this sophisticated godi journalist, here are some points: 1) Jamaat did not escalate the protest; rather, it was the killings of students followed by a brutal crackdown that intensified the quota protest. The brutality of the Police, BGB, and Bangladesh Chhatra League (the student wing of the Awami League) is well documented. Not only did they not stop shooting at students, but they also fired from helicopters, resulting in many people, including children under the age of 10, being killed in their homes. Anyone willing to investigate can see this. We, the students, have made very thorough documentation of these events. 2) Anyone trying to paint Hasina’s era as a secular period is an absolute enemy of Bangladesh's struggle toward a civilized and secular country and society. I am outraged by this lady's attempt to do so. My fingers would ache if I started listing the violations of human rights, citizens' rights, political rights, and more under the Hasina regime, and yet this lady is so concerned because Jamaat didn’t mention human rights in their mandate. Yes, the Awami League mentioned human rights in their mandate, but in reality, they were far from upholding them. Your absolute silence on the human rights violations and rigged elections during Hasina’s era, and your sudden concern for human rights now that Hasina has been toppled, clearly show where you stand.
