Robin Arryn was supposed to be promised to Sansa at one point in the show and Tywin marrried his cousin Joana who is the mother of their 3 children. It would honestly be completely fine.

Lysa wanted Sansa to marry Robin- & Sansa’s very aware of why- given her status as a High Lords’ daughter- she thinks, ‘No one will ever love me for me’. She obviously doesn’t want to marry Robin- who’s very unlikely to grow up & look like Lino did- & Lysa’s not exactly as subtle as the Tyrells, either; she tells Sansa that she’s an orphan now, & is lucky to make such a grand match... obviously Sansa feels differently.

It’s common in my country. If the both family agrees to marry their children with each other than it’s no problem as they are not direct brother or sister so it’s not incest.

Jon-Sansa are so compelling cause of how they make the story complete a full circle. The matter of Stark and Targaryan marraige ruining Westeros and then a Stark and Targaryan marraige saving it is kinda brilliant. JonSansa have too many parallels and was a deal among many book readers. The base for their ship being too many parallels. Jon Sansa both left Winterfell disappointed with the life there. Jon the North and Sansa the South. Both had high expectations and opinion of knights only to understand a different tale later. Sansa over time slipped into the status of the bastard Alayne and Jon rose up to be a Lord Commander. And the Ashford Theory isn't too bleak. The similarity is uncanny. Jon dreaming of being Aemon the Dragonknight and Sansa Queen Naerys, who were lovers. More than that. Jon in his only wish have wanted to have a family of his and named his children after his lost brothers. And surprisingly the similar PoV with same wants as his is found in Sansa. Sansa wanted to marry Prince Joeffry who was a bastard and in Winterfell there was a bastard Jon Snow who is a Prince. And it goes on. JonSansa are not in the face. But when you delve on it. The parallels and resemblance just hits you on the face. You go like Woah. They are not that unlikely . JonSansa are the best possible match for both of them. And mostly if their marraige happens its stepping stone would be political. But they would grow into it like NedCat. Inspite of all these references the chances of them always seemed bleak but the thing that solidified this not much popular theory is Season 6. The interaction between JonSansa have been a lot and theres not complete platonic edge to the scenes. Like the cloak scene. And the chemistry oozes out of the actors. Season 6 has lot of ground for JonSansa to happen. We have to wait for S7 for the matter to come out. And well the biggest evidence of all. Jon likes redheads.

I've been really keen on this theory for a while now. Especially when you compare the story and it's characters to the War of the Roses (from which GRRM has based ASOIAF). There are so many subtle hints and parallels between the 2 that yeah, it does hit you in the face when you do a re-read haha! I also thought S6 was leading us towards a Jon/Sansa union. I really like the irony behind Jon finally finding love and acceptance in the mirror image of the woman that caused him such distress growing up. (*could also be the reason Jon has been attracted to redheads all along - his subconscious projecting his need for acceptance onto Cat lookalikes?) I am worried though, If the show does go down the Jon/Dany route (probably more a sex scene than a marriage) just to appease the fans, then the Jon/Sansa subtle storyline has been for nothing. It won't be as shocking to the audience when Jon falls in love with his sister/cousin. It instead turns into a bit of a joke "ole Jonny likes to keep it in the family!"

Reasons for them to marry in the recent future: 1. Sansa has a legal right to both Winterfell and The Dreadfort. Two of the most advantageous stations in the North, the largest kingdom in Westeros, and the one Jon is trying to shoulder the weight of. 2.Jon is a Bastard, Sansa a woman, either claim may be tenuously held while separate, but together their claim would be formidable. 3. Bran will be returning, as the rightful lord of Winterfell people will be looking for him to (I assume non-violently) usurp his brother's claim. As a last legitimate son of Eddard Stark. Even Bran may want to reduce that probability. 4. Jon's claim to the North will be even less legitimate when it's discovered he's actually a Targaryen. His mother was a Stark, but Sansa is a direct descendant of Eddard. Some people may not want to follow him as it would mean a Targaryen ruling the North. 5. As an attempt to rebuild House Stark. - It's entirely possible Bran cannot produce an heir, as he may be paralyzed from the waist down. 6. As you said, they're first cousins not brother and sister. Which is not considered incest in that universe. 7. The Arya love triangle outline, Sansa makes a little more sense. Especially for the show. 8. Jon never met a redhead that didn't save his life at least one time. Catelyn, Tormund, Ygritte, Sansa... 9. On some level Sansa had direct ties to Houses Stark, Baratheon, Lannister, and Bolton. Half of which near extinction, and the other half already are, possibly making her the legal beneficiary to their holdings, depending on circumstance. (As with the Dreadfort.) Adding Targaryen to the list would be a home run, and she may even have a tenuous claim to the Vale if something happens to Littlefinger, due to her Aunt Lysa, a connection Jon can't claim. 10. They look like young Ned and Catelyn. =)

When Cersei is told that one will take her place, one younger and more beautiful, I don't believe the witch that originally told her this was specifically meaning that it would be a queen to take her place. In the show, Tormund teases Jon, saying that he's more beautiful than his daughters. So I believe that the witch was takilng about Jon replacing Cersei, younger and more beautiful. Also fits the "prince that was promised" that Rhaegar believed he would fulfill with Lyanna.

If you look at the Stark family tree, there is ONE Jonnel Stark -and guess who he marries? His niece Sansa Stark. *Coincidence? I think not!* GRRM been planning this since day 1. Whether he remains KITN or sits on the Iron Throne, Jon will need an heir. Dany will NEVER be able to give him that, since she's barren. Her body was ruined after the birth of Khal Drogo's son, a winged creature. The only children she'll ever have, are her dragons. As KITN Jon's best alliance politically is Eddard Stark's own daughter, Sansa. Their children would have the strongest claim to the North being descendants of both Ned and Lyanna Stark. SIMULTANEOUSLY, Dany would need Jon to have children of his own in order to carry on the Targaryen lineage. And Dany would see Sansa as his best match, since their children in addition to the North ALSO would have the strongest claim to the Iron Throne being descendants of Prince Rhaegar himself thus securing a united Westeros, with Dany ruling in South in King's Landing and Jon as KITN.

Tyrion honestly always seemed a good match for Sansa. He's incredibly smart and quick-witted, considerate as all get-out, and the technically-never-annulled marriage the two of them have may now be highly adventagous politically with Tyrion coming back to Westeros as Hand of the Queen, and the North/Night's Watch in need of allies and reinforcements to fight the army of the dead. Tyrion also knows and is passable friends with Jon Snow, giving the North another in by way of Tyrion to Dany's soon-to-be-in-place new government in the South (if she hasn't at least deposed Cersei by the end of Season 7, something will have to have gone so horribly wrong...).

I was just trying to make the point that maybe five people in the series overall that we've seen in the immediate story (starting with Game of Thrones/S1) actually live according to chivalric values, so those aren't much of a barometer of character in Westeros.

In the books, I was hoping Sansa might end up with Aegon aka Young Griff. If it turned out he was the true Targaryen heir, (and ended up taking the throne) she might fulfil the prophecy of being 'the younger, prettier queen that destroys Cersei'. In the show - I just want her safe and happy lol. Out of all the characters in GOT, her story arc has been the most developed. And for good reason I think. Have to admit though; I really love the idea of a Jon and Sansa pairing. Jon and Dany getting together is way too cheesy and cliche for GOT. Two siblings/cousins falling in love and marrying is something I can totally imagine GRRM doing. Particularly when you compare them to their parallels - the Lannisters. Cersei and Jamie's romance is considered wrong and taboo. And they are the 'villains' of the show (Jamie not so much any more, but you get the gist). It would be like GRRM to then twist this theory and make the hero and heroin (aka the Warrior and the Maiden), having been raised as siblings, fall in love. Not everyone will like it; but he won't care. Its his story.

I really hope they don't make Dany the "younger and more beautiful queen". Dany doesn't have a history with Cersei and it just wouldn't be satisfying at all. I have always hoped it would either be Margaery or Sansa. Mostly Sansa because of their interactions. Henry Tudor (had King's blood through his mother) battled Richard III, and then proclaimed King. Jon Snow (had Stark's blood through his mother) battled Ramsay Snow, and then proclaimed King in the North. Elizabeth of York's 2 little brothers (the Princes in the tower), locked in Tower of London by Richard III and then disappeared. Sansa had two younger brothers arrested by Theon in Winterfell before they're gone/dead. Henry Tudor married his distant cousin, Elizabeth of York (the true heiress to the throne) to cement his claim. Jon Snow could possibly marry Sansa (the true heiress presumptive of the North) also to cement his claim. Elizabeth I succeeded the bloody Mary I, who burned every protestants in England. Daenerys will depose the bloody Cersei, who burned every faithfuls in Kings Landing. Elizabeth I remained unmarried and didn't have issue, she picked James VI of Scotland as her heir, resulting Scotland united with England to this day. Daenery will not remarry and nor have issue, she will pick Jon as her heir, reuniting the North as part of the 7 kingdom again.

Original outline had a love triangle between Jon/Tyrion/Arya. For anyone who isn't creepy af this is clearly a non-starter in the books. Jon literally calls her little sister, they look exactly alike, he thinks of her as nothing but a little sister. It would be a creepy transition. Jon and Sansa always had enough distance that it isn't as creepy. They are closer in age. And their arcs mirror each others. In the books Sansa is already married to Tyrion so that portion of the storyline has gone to Sansa. Original outline had Jon and Arya interacting in the north. In the books, Sansa is planning to ride North with the knights of the Vale to free Winterfell (by getting Harry the Heir to convince them) while Jon is planning to march south before he died. They will clearly meet up at the battle. This happened in show. In the books, before Jon dies Sansa is the second to last person he thinks of. He pictures her brushing Lady and then thinks of Ygritte. Clear procession from her to his romantic interest. In the books, Sansa spends time as a bastard and models herself on Jon (for instance she ages herself up to 14, which is the age he was when she last saw him, she thinks Alayne wouldn't like to dance the way Sansa did Jon doesn't like to dance, she is generally more serious and dour as Alayne.) This time makes her think of him and how sweet it would be to see him again. Basically, Sansa's entire plot has been making her more empathetic toward Jon. When they meet again she will relate to him on a deeper level. Sansa dreams of having babies who look like Arya. Jon, a potential father to those babies, looks like Arya. In her last chapter of AFFC Sansa hears a direwolf howl. AFFC takes place at the same time as ADWD. It's almost certainly Ghost she hears when Jon dies. Sansa isn't usually connected to the magical aspect of the Starks. But she knows when Jon dies. Their stories parallel each other perfectly. Jon started off as a bastard became a Lord (Commander) and is a would be king when Robb's will is found. Sansa started off as a would be Queen (marrying Joff) became a Lady in her own right (marrying Tyrion) and is now a bastard. Both planned on utterly traditional roles for their station in life. Bastards go off to the Wall. Ladies marry handsome princes. Both were bitterly betrayed by the life they thought they wanted. But stuck with it long past the point it became obvious it wasn't working for them. When Jon is offered Winterfell from Stannis he says repeatedly to himself and to Stannis that Winterfell belongs to his sister Sansa. But at the same time he wants desperately to be Lord of Winterfell and remembers being bitterly jealous of Robb for being able to have that. Even when the will is found it's clear he'll have some conflict over usurping Sansa as he did when Stannis offered to legitimize him.

During SDCC, when asked about a Jon and Sansa romance, Sophie Turner said, “Nothing will happen...”. However, she had yet to even receive the scripts for Season 7. Flash forward to today, and Sophie was just recently asked at the Emmy’s and I quote, “What is happening between Sansa and Jon?” and ST responded with, and I quote once again, "I don't know man, I don't know. Things could happen. Things couldn't happen. They are cousins. And it is Game Of Thrones". Hmm. Well, by that point she had received her scripts, read them over, practiced them, and prepared to begin filming. Ever since Jon was crowned KITN, the writers and producers have been trying to hype up this storyline of Jon vs Sansa, or a Stark Civil War. Why would Sophie just assume that the Interviewer was talking about a romance between the two and not about the "rivalry"? Hmm... obviously, a rivalry is not likely, but even more so when they hype it up like that. They need a way to bring drama into the north storyline because i'm sure they aren't ready to bring the Walkers past the wall. Enter Littlefinger, who is obviously going to try and get in the way of Jon and Sansa. Now, as I mentioned, they have been hyping up this storyline of Jon v Sansa, and a lot of fans are already expecting it to actually happen. Do we ever learn?? They did the same with Jon last season, saying that he was dead and not coming back. Why would they hype up this storyline if it was meant to be a shocking reveal, because it should be. People like to point to the scene where Jon is crowned KITN and Sansa has a very “grim” look on her face when she looks at LF. This is exactly what I am talking about. D & D did an interview awhile back and talked about how Jon is honorable, and therefore it is harder for him to play the game. They also talked about how he will need protection... Enter Sansa.

I have only just started the books, but on the show we have gotten some foreshadowing in earlier season and some evidence this past season that Sansa will herself develop into a killer. It is my shameless hope that Little Finger will be her masterwork in that area, but that is not really on point. Lady Ashford is pretty much a non-entity in the Duncan story, right? I don't think Sansa will marry again considering her past experiences. I think that's G.R.R.M's bittersweet ending for Sansa. At the beginning of the series, Sansa was naive and wanted to raise a family and have a husband that adores her. Considering her past relationships and lost love and hopes, I think she'll remain a spinster. Can't see Arya having children either.

I find it interesting that all of the people Sansa is to marry lead into the next. She is to marry Joffrey, but that falls through and because of the falling through, the Tyrells come to King's Landing and seek to marry her to Willas. Because of the Willas plan, she is married to Tyrion. Because she weds Tyrion, she must flee before his trial, which leads to Harrold Hardyng. You may also notice that all of the people she is to marry are corrupted versions of a "normal" person of their name. Joffrey Baratheon is actually an awful human being and a product of incest. Willas Tyrell is not who she hoped for and is a cripple. Tyrion is "the Imp", a halfman and has an awful public image and is lecherous. Harrold Hardyng is severely rude to Sansa when they first meet. Also, each of the people she is set to marry have connections to bastards: Joffrey is secretly a bastard and I believe talks about having sex with Sansa and fathering bastards like his "father" during the wedding party between her and Tyrion. Willas is left crippled by Oberyn Martell, renowned for his bastard daughters (this is a bit of a reach I acknowledge). Tyrion says himself, "all dwarves are bastards in their fathers' eyes", and according to some theories is a bastard of Aerys. Harrold Hardyng admits to fathering many bastards in the Reach. Sansa herself is even pretending to BE a bastard, and in the Reach she is mocked for being a bastard by several highborne people, including Harrold himself. Even in the show, she marries Ramsay Bolton, a bastard of a northern house and a monster, after Lysa says she is to marry Robin, Harrold being cut out entirely. Robin who, while there is no connection to being a bastard, is sickly and frail and a dick. It is worth noting that Joffrey is a monster disguised by good looks, and Tyrion is a good man disguised by what people think to be a monstrous appearance. In the show, her last marriage is to a monster who is supposed to be ugly. Someone who outwardly appears to be what they are inside, after she's been with people who look very different from who they are inside. So with each marriage leading to the next, and the constant connection to bastards, and the parallel to Lady Ashford, it seems like Sansa will marry a Targaryen bastard as a result of the plot with Harrold Hardyng. It's a good thing we have two Targaryen bastards: Jon Snow and Aegon Targaryen, since R+L=J is all but confirmed now and Aegon is likely (imo) a Blackfyre. This would make them both bastards with Targaryen blood who appear to be something that they aren't. Except in the case of their nature: by all accounts both seem to have an appearance that matches a warm and good soul. Will Sansa finally marry someone who's nature matches their appearance, but who is a bastard who appears to be something they aren't actually like has been hinted for so long? Probably, and the Lady Ashford connection suggests it's a Targaryen, leaving us either Jon or Aegon. However, it's possible to narrow this down a little more. We can be pretty sure Jon and Sansa will meet again in The Winds of Winter, particularly due to the events of season 6. Although Sansa in season 5-6 seems to mostly take the role of Jeyne Poole in the story, perhaps it's not a replacement, and more of a merge of the two storylines. But either way, with the addition of Ramsay, Sansa has been set to marry: 1st. the heir to the throne of all the Seven Kingdoms (around the time he is crowned king it is basically decided the marriage will be halted, 2nd. the heir to the Warden of the South, 3rd. the (technical) heir to the Warden of the West. 4th. the possible heir to the Warden of the East, and finally 5th. the heir to the Warden of the North. The show then sees her setting up her own independent Northern Kingdom. Linking all the information listed above and tying it to the information from the show, it's quite likely Sansa will marry either lastly or pen-ultimately whoever is leading the North or the heir of such. Ramsay or Jon appear to be her only options. If she were to be shipped off to Ramsay first, this would throw a cog in the wheel of the link to the story of Lady Ashford. Likely, she will either marry Jon for love when they grow closer in the next book, or she will be forced to marry him for political purposes when, possibly, SHE becomes Warden of the North (having been the heir herself after Ned, nullifying the need for her to marry the heir to the Warden) and he becomes King of the Seven Kingdoms. Jon being the next heir to Ned, Warden of the North, besides Sansa after Ned's death and his being legitimized by King Robb, but also a Targaryen bastard (or possibly not a bastard, as in the show, but at least believed to be one at one point); who is externally and internally good and noble, but does appear to be something he is not to Sansa earlier in the story, makes him a perfect fit in the list of Sansa's suitors. If they meet again in the next book and become closer and possible love interest, she will surely become his bride one way or the other. In a bleaker ending, neither Jon nor Sansa want it, especially as they see eachother as siblings, but Jon does it out of duty, and Sansa does it for political maneuvering, as they have been forced to do throughout the series. This seems more likely. However, it is possible that Sansa and Jon would fall in love, as Sansa wishes her story would end, and they marry for this reason. This doesn't fit as well into Jon's story though, unless love ends up being the death of duty, or vice versa.

One reason I believe Sansa and Jon might marry is because I felt that Ramsay's death scene has several similarities with Viserys' death scene: 1. The girl(Sansa/Dany), the abuser(Ramsay/Viserys), and the executioner(Jon/Khal Drogo) are related through family ties. 2. Fans keep saying that the girl kills the abuser, when technically, the girl simply gave the executioner her silent consent to kill the abuser. 3. Minseok Hansol Well they've all been pushed onto Tumblr because every other GoT community online is toxic and gives you hell if you have any theories about the show/books other than Targaryen restoration, Jon/Dany marriage etc. I've read loads of metas and analysis from Tumblr, and those are actually what convinced me. I don't consider myself a shipper, but the pairing has a lot of foreshadowing and evidence, so I think it's highly likely for the pair to be endgame. And what I've noticed is that most of my "general audience" friends whom I've told about the theories in real life aren't as opposed to the idea of a Jon/Sansa marriage as people on Reddit and elsewhere would have us believe. I don't know, it could happen it could not, but if I was going to place bets, I would bet on Jon and Sansa.

I think that this theory might be right, but she will end up marrying a true baratheon aka Gendry. According to another fan theory(which i believe), Tyrion is the son of the mad king, thus making him the Targeryan that she married. I think that Tyrion is a Targeryan because we all know that there are 3 heads of the dragon, and in my opinion they are Danny, Jon and maybe Tyrion(i mean, the dragon really liked Tyrion, when he went to the pyramid and unchained him, plus he has had dreams of dragons). Many Starks marry their own cousins. Ned's parents are cousins, too. They like it to keep it Northern because they distrusted the southrons. When they don't marry their own cousins, they either marry other Northerner, or those from southron houses who still have strong First Men ancestry, such as Blackwood and Royce. This is why Rickard's so-called "southron ambition" was notable, as he tried to arrange his oldest son to marry a Tully (Catelyn) and his only daughter to a Baratheon (Robert). Both are from Great Houses. I never understood why George seemed to go to great lengths to create a distance between Sansa and Jon in terms of their relationship its only real purpose would be for them to rediscover each other. George loves to have history replaying itself, if Sansa were to marry Jon she would have a strong parallel story arc with Cersei a woman that plotted the downfall of her house and was determined to block her rise to power, she was betrothed to the crown Prince just as Cersei had wished to be to Rhaegar , The Prince in both cases married someone else and They both end up marrying an unexpected dark haired warrior king, it would also have a certain perfect Irony that it would be the son of Rhaegar that would be the catalyst to Cersei being cast aside again.
