@@alexcoffey8804 This sounds very cool, but unlikely given where Lady Stoneheart is at this point in the story, which is the Riverlands. George R. R. Martin also doesn't seem to use the teleportation tactic (unlike D&D), since going from the Riverlands to the Wall would take a lot of time (it's across half of the continent, exluding beyond the Wall). I believe it is said in the show that it took a month to get from King's Landing to Winterfell. The Wall is even further than that, factoring in the fact that her journey would not be smooth as for the characters in the first season, when there was essentially peace everywhere, I guess that it would take her 2 months to get there. Also that's considering she leaves the Riverlands at once, which I also doubt, since she has some unfinished business in the Riverlands. You might argue that she doesn't need to travel to the Wall for this to work, but I do think that a moment loses a lot of it's impact when it happens so indirectly ig. It would feel cheap, because Lady Catelyn would not even know who is she giving the life to. Also, as much as it is set up that Catelyn hates Jon Snow for who he is, it doesn't really make sense for her to meddle in Jon's storyline, because she has no connection to the Long Night, white walkers and the prophecies regarding this plotline. I'm not even sure if Lady Stoneheart will ever meet Jon again. In the show, the Brotherhood does travel to the Wall, but I'm still sceptical about Stoneheart going there. Characters like Thoros of Myr have some ties to the white walker plotline via the Lord of Light, but Stoneheart's only interaction with the Lord of Light is via her resurrection, and prove me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember her talking about the Lord of Light, white walkers etc. ever in the books. So in summary, a great idea but unlikely given the circumstances of the books.

Honestly in retrospect, it shouldve been 1. John is resurrected by the lord of light because he the real Azor Ahai, and thats because 2. He is the only person left in Westeros who a. Has a legitimate claim to the throne and b. Would actually be accepted as king by the North, re-uniting the 7 kingdoms and thus being able to field a united Westerosi Army against the Night King. In "The Ice Dragon", GRRM states that ice dragons are larger and more powerful than fire breathing dragons. Whatever they touch instantly freezes and never thaws. I like the idea of ice dragons lining up, and the air freezes around them, forming into a 700 ft tall Wall of ice. GRRM already said that there is magic keeping the wall standing. Either way, it's going to come down in book 6. What better way to bring it down then by watching ice dragons burst out from inside.

suemeejim715 A theory I like suggests there's an Ice dragon trapped in the wall. It IS the magic keeping it standing and it is the reason it seems as though it breathes and lives (the wall). As stated by Jon or Sam can't remember who. It would explain a lot. And seeing as these magical horns control dragons and the Horn of Johramun (however it's spelled) is said to bring down the wall. May be what wakes the dragon from its slumber and brings the wall down. Also the fact that Melissanda's magic is stranger at the wall may hint that there is a dragon in the wall, as dragons amplify magic exponentially. :) but It's only a theory.

Actually, in both books and show there is another potential alternative to the use of king's blood to resurrect Jon: Melisandre herself. If you believe the theory that Bloodraven + Shiera Seastar = Melony/Melisandre, then Mel DEFINITELY has kingsblood. Moreover, that would also tie into the "bleeding star" portion of the Azor Ahai prophecy, especially if her surname is Seastar like her mother. Melisandre is the Red Star. Also, do you think "Jon" is even his real birth name? GRRM has said that "Jon" is the name Ned gave him. I heard a cool theory on Radio Westeros that his real name is Aemon Targaryen.

I would go into it here, but I don't think I could explain it half as well as Radio Westeros did. So I recommend you go to their site and check out their episode on Jon Snow, as well as their other episodes, because they are awesome. As for why Ned chose the name "Jon", it's likely that he named him after Jon Arryn. It could have symbolic meaning to him. This is from Reddit: "Ned's relationship to Arryn parallels the relationship he feels with Snow. Jon Arryn raised Ned like a son even though he was not. Furthermore, when the king (Aerys) called for Ned's head, Lord Arryn raised his banners in rebellion and defied the king to save him. If George R.R. Martin doesn't resurrect Jon Snow in the upcoming books and in turn the show, then he's a complete fool. In my opinion Jon Snow has more of the end game story on his shoulders than anyone else at this point. Everyone including Daenerys, seem to be more worried about ruling the world,birthrights and lust for power while Jon Snow is on the front lines of the War for the Dawn which is the true threat. He's just too important a character to kill off at this point. If George kills off Jon Snow who seems to be the only symbol of selflessness, honor and justice left then whats the point of reading the rest of the story? Imho, Daenerys and Jon Snow are the two pillars holding the story up and if one falls the whole thing crumbles. Show me one character who can replace Jon Snow that anyone would be happy with, I don't think there will be many recommendations if any. The R+L=J theory has to come into play. I think if he learns hes a Targaryen, a legit Targaryen and not a River then he will seek out Daenerys not only because shes his sister but also because hes going to want to get as many people possible ready for the White Walker invasion and he would be in a perfect position to bring the Wildlings to her side. That's a good chunk of people to get the ball rolling towards end game. If Jon Snow is resurrected I hope its done by Thoros of Myr and not Melisandre because she sucks and Thoros seemed like a much cooler character. Maybe Lady Stoneheart sends Thoros after hearing of Jon's death or maybe Melisandre sends for Thoros personally considering he brought Beric back to life 6 times. There's so many possible resurrection scenarios for Snow, but more than likely it will involve a red priest or priestess. Whatever happens Jon Snow has to comeback otherwise the story wont be the same and not in a good way. Sorry for the rant.

How has nobody pointed out that Melisandre burns Shireen "to clear the snow" - clear the Snow perhaps? I say R'hllor intended for her to burn Shireen in order for the fire to melt the Snow. leaving Jon Targaryen. I say she doesn't actively resurrect Jon, as we have no indication that Melisandre is aware of the ability to resurrect people. Instead I think they will burn Jon on a funeral pyre, and he will then rise from the flames (akin to Daenerys in S01E10), even to Melisandre surprise. I both hope and predict this.

My Theory for the books, (since show fucked this up.) Stannis defeats the Boltons and claims Winterfell. After he hears of Jon's death he declares him a true Stark (like he had offered Jon before) and has his body brought to Winterfell to lay in the Crypts with the other Starks. Meanwhile he has Theon captured at Winterfell, somehow Lady Stoneheart hears of this and heads to Winterfell to kill him ( she thinks he killed Bran and Rickon) She will be well accepted there due to melisandre, since she rides with the red priest. There Stannis will let her execute Theon since he planned on doing it anyway (Whether she kills Theon or doesn't effect the main theory), and she will discover Jon is dead. In an ironic twist she will give Jon the kiss of life, trading her life for the boy she despised and hated.

I have been thinking that Jon must learn of his parentage before or at the very moment of his resurrection, because having him come back to life as plain old Jon Snow, and allowing *any* time to go by before revealing his parentage, would be devastatingly anticlimactic. He must be Jon Targaryen, at the moment he opens his eyes. Even having him learn who his parents are, later in the same episode in which he's brought back, would be clunky, unbelievable and just kind of stupid lol.

But she is (or she appears to be) doing it all for the good of the realm, or the world they live in, much like Varys. And that is what is amazing about the characters in this series. They are not clear cut good and evil, they all have a bit of both. Just like real humans, no fairy tales over here. These books and seasons are the most real things I have seen and read tbh.

I don't get why so many people think that Jon is going to sit the iron throne. Why? Even if he's the son of Rhaegar a.) he is still a bastard, b.) he has no proof and c.) why would anyone care? Oh no, the idea that Jon might be within Ghost, observing everything Melisandre does to try and bring him back, and ends up watching Shireen burn through Ghost's eyes as the last thing he sees before his resurrection sounds like it would be one hell of a trauma. I can just imagine they've chained Ghost up or something, and throughout the entire ritual Ghost is struggling against the chains, whining, trying to reach the pyre to save the little girl.

A major clue contributing to a likely return of Jon would be that he's Robb's heir; Robb's will named Jon Snow as his successor, legitimising him and entitling him to the Stark name and position as head of the family, and Lord of Winterfell. As mentioned more than once in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, a legitimised bastard typically reverses the colours of their banner, as seen in the context of the Blackfrye rebellion. The Stark banner is a grey wolf on a white background - if we reverse this, we're left with...A White Wolf on a grey banner. That sounds like quite a subtle, but important clue that GRRM might have included in the texts. If we take this into account, together with the prophecies and Melisandre's visions in the flames (man to wolf to man again, warging to avoid death before taking back a revived body?), and the voiding of the Watch's vows (since he technically died), we're left with a Jon Stark who is able to march under a banner of a White Wolf. That's just too good to be a coincidence...

I really think this is going to happen, or similar. It all makes sense. Because, the R+L=J thing, I feel that it might actually be true. Think about it, Ned Stark was so honorable, that he basically sacrificed his life in an effort to bring out the truth of Joffery's birth so that he could get Cersei punished for her crimes and Joffery removed from the throne, just because it was true. This cost him everything and his family everything. But he was so honorable, that he just HAD to put his DUTY and HONOR before everything else. So, would a man THAT honorable really break his wedding vows? Someone who has the will to put his honor before his LIFE and FAMILY? That's not the kind of man who throws away a vow for a night of warmth and passion. So, what if Lyanna DIDN'T LOVE ROBERT, but instead she LOVED RAYGAR? His father may have prevented the union because Targaryeans usually wed either princesses or their sisters to keep the line pure, and she was already promised to Robert, so maybe they staged a "kidnapping" so they could be together. Then, when they found them, maybe her death was an accident or something. Then, Ned, being the honorable man that he was would have been confronted with a problem. His loyalty to Robert, or his duty to his family. He wouldn't have wanted to kill his sister's son, but he would also have to betray Robert, because if the boy was truly a Targaryean, Robert would have wanted to kill him for 3 reasons: Number 1: He's a Targaryean. He ordered Stannis to kill Varys and Daenareyous (however you spell these names) even though they were children because he hated Targaryeans and, Number 2: Anyone with Targaryean blood was a threat to the claim of a Baratheon to the throne. Many people still regard Robert as a usurper. Many people would support the claim of a Targaryean son to the throne. And, number three, he would have wanted to kill the boy because he wouldn't accept the fact that Lyanna was with Raygar of her own accord, because to him, Lyanna was HIS love so she MUST feel the same way. So, the dilemma for Ned would have been: Do I let them know this is Raygar and Lyanna's son, thus killing the boy who is my sister's child, or do I pass this off as my son TO PROTECT HIM FOR MY SISTER, even though I will have to lie to and hurt my wife TO ALSO PROTECT THE REST OF MY FAMILY from the wrath of the Baratheons. Maybe his sister even asked him to protect her son before she died. So, Ned passes the son off as his bastard. Allowing a smirch on his reputation for the sake of his sister. You can see how it pains him when his wife brings up his "betrayal" of her with another woman, he wants to let her know Jon is not really his, but he can't because that would put the boy and his wife and other children in danger. Especially since he'd been lying to the king for YEARS now. And, of course, he could never let the boy know his true heritage, either, lest he get himself killed trying to fight Robert and bring war to the realm trying to claim the throne in the name of his true father. So, he brings him up as his bastard and keeps a lie that kills him inside because of his honor. All to protect family and realm.

I have a theory that Jon will be back, but easily not the same man he once was. They keep saying that Jon Snow is 'dead' and they are right. Now, before I go any further, let ne produce two pieces of evidence that support my theory. One: Jon's talk with Stannis, how he planned to make Jon a Stark if he supported him. And two: Jon's talk with maester Aemon. Aemon said 'Kill the boy, and let the man be born.' With Jon Snow's death, the boy has died, and, with a little help from Melisandre, the man Jon Stark, will be born.

I consider this a correct theory, but if we remember that Varamyr only got out of the first animal he warged after they killed it and that Theon will probably be executed by Stannis (go check up the TWOW preview chapter from Theon's perspective), I think that Ghost, Theon and Shireen will be killed in order for mixing greenseer magic (BloodRaven or Bran can make Jon get out of Ghost with skinchanging abilities before Ghost is killed), Ice magic (his body can pass through the magic the Others use to create the Army of the Dead and BR can convince Stannis to execute Theon with the purpose of make Jon's body not pass through this state with Theon's King's Blood and House Greyjoy has descendency of the First Men) and Fire Magic (similar to Beric and Catelyn's ressurrections, but different and better because when Beric and Catelyn returned, part of their souls went out, Jon's soul has been put in a second life, so when he returns his memories would remain intact, but not his behavior and Mel receive visions of BloodRaven or Bran to ressurrect Jon in a way that never happened and she burns Shireen to ressurrect his body in a better shape than that of Ice and/or Fire wights and the Baratheons have King's Blood via his founder having the blood of Old Valyria and Dragonkings) to ressurrect Jon Snow and it would've parallel the awakening of Dany's dragons: Melisandre = Mirri Maz Duur Shireen = Rhaego Theon = Drogo Ghost = the horse that Mirri killed in order to try to bring Drogo back Dany getting out of the pyre alive with her dragon eggs hatched = Jon getting out of Ghost and returning to his ressurrected body Dany putting Mirri on Drogo's funeral pyre and, thus, making the dragon eggs hatching= Jon stabbing Mel in the heart with Longclaw and turning into Lightbringer!

a achmed Mostly just fan speculation on what kind of name Rhaegar and/or Lyanna would have chosen. Some fans think that it might be "Viserys" because they assume that Rhaegar wanted a "Visenya" to complete the trio, and "Viserys" is the male version of that name. There's no concrete evidence supporting one particular name. However, there might be some literary clues that point to one name: Aemon. That's my favorite theory. I recommend checking out Radio Westeros's episode on Jon, because they explain it very well.
