I'm sure there are tons of old people out of the 7 billion+ on this planet who have actually done that. Hell, I recently saw a guy in his late 70's or early 80's who had an entire cab setup for American Truck Simulator, and I've seen the same with Microsoft Flight Sim. If they can build a cockpit or truck cab and then install everything properly, they could def get a Windows emulator. Believe it or not, there are old people who grew up with and worked on computers since the 1950's, and some of them continued to work on computers from then up to now. My now passed grandfather worked on and operated one of the first big computers while in the Navy in the 50's, and it was called a Facsimile Machine. NASA Apollo engineers would also be able to use modern day computers, even if there was a learning curve.

Could be also a force of habit and convenience... or the hardware still manages to do the tasks just fine. Same goes with phones and other hardware - one can still go and buy a Texas Instruments graphing calculator for some 130 USD. I did this to a Microsoft scammer once. I was playing around with Windows 3.11 (because it's the first windows with built in networking) in a VM and a scammer called. I played the role of an old man. When the technician started telling me where to go, I kept saying that I can't find what he's saying...This went on for almost 2 hours and escalated up the chain to 4 different techs. Finally, the boss got on the phone and said that Windows 3.11 was too old and that I needed to upgrade. Still playing the old man, I said, "well, you're Microsoft, right? So why don't you upgrade me now while we're on the phone. I'll pay you. I got my credit card right here". He hated me telling me that because that meant I was an easy mark, but they had no way to take my money that I was so readily to part with. He kept telling me that I needed to buy a new computer. I said, why, when this one works perfectly fine. I don't need the newest and latest of everything...I told him that my 1950 Buick Roadmaster was still running great from when I bought it new. My 1949 Zenith Refrigerator still works and my Philco TV still gets the local channels! I said that's the problem with you young folk...don't know the value of things because you don't keep them long enough to value them! He insisted that he can't work on my computer because it's too old! I said, that it wasn't too old when I bought it in 1994! I said that I got a free copy of Lotus 123 and Wordstar which I still use! I kept this fool on the line for another hour! That was fun! I enjoyed myself with that one!

@@SteveJones172pilot my dad is the type who is very tech illiterate, but thinks he is way smarter than he actually is. we literally left him alone in the house for 2 hours while my mum had to get surgery and in that time he got called by a scammer (not sure how often you get this specific one in other countries but in the UK a common scam call is someone pretending to be an ISP and threatening that your internet will be shut off if you don't comply). in just that short amount of time they were so threatening and urging that he was convinced by them even though we didn't even use the ISP they were imitating. he has brain damage meaning he struggles with critical thinking and so he did the entire thing of installing a remote access software and logging into the savings account. the only reason they didn't get away with it is because they got greedy and tried to take _everything we had_ and the bank saw a bunch of transfers of £3000+ multiple times into a random account, it flagged up some kind of fraud detection, and they stopped every transaction and froze the account. don't get me wrong my dads a dickhead and I don't like him, but even despite how I feel about him it made me so fucking angry. how can they so callously trick a clearly confused and disabled old man, who was saying the entire time "oh i'm really not sure I should be doing this, I'm worried, my wife deals with the money but she's having surgery" and still sleep at night? we live below the poverty line, if they hadn't been so greedy and not flagged the fraud detection they'd have literally ruined our lives. it was genuinely so surreal to come home and see the exact remote access programs that I see in scam baiting videos installed on his pc. I backed up his important files and then wiped the whole pc just to be on the safe side. we had to have a serious talk with him about what to look out for in scams and especially that its always better to be suspicious and he no longer has the login for the savings account (at his own request).
