The dystopia references ..suddenly jumped out at me.... maybe a reminder, of what is going on, in terms of the organization of society....

He's talking about the technology behind online banking. The encryption relies on the fact that we presume you can't decrypt long prime numbers used as hash keys.

I am a great appreciator of Self and his work but I think his reading of his book in this video is very bad indeed: putting far too much emphasis into his reading, he almost sounds like the guys doing voiceover in trailers for action movies; that and stopping and waiting for laughs that don't really come; that is a cardinal sin lMHO.
