When it comes to Seth Jones the player, you guys are very reasonable admitting he is a good but not great top pairing guy that gets too much crap. When it comes to Seth Jones the contract I think you guys have defended him a little too long and it's clouding your judgement. Your offseason discussion had so much of: "we want guys who fit our timeline" and "no long contract for vets." Hearing you guys scared of a 6-7 year contract for Guentzel and then turning around and saying that you're still happy with the Jones contract is a weird dichotomy. I'm hoping Jones can keep up his play until we can trade him to whatever team hires Bowman, a la Brian Campbell to the Panthers lol

We’re complain’ about a contract from the last GM in a rebuild, not Seth’s fault his agent got him paid. He gets too much hate but he was trying to lead an AHL team last year. With Martinez and Brodie our blue line will have more depth to lean on and Jones will play better. With the cap finally starting to raise the deal will only be better when these guys start to get paid big in the years to come

Serh jones is a fine defender, I can even agree he’s a 1st pairing for many teams. My issues with Seth jones is that he’s tied for 5th highest contract for a defender in the nhl and even you guys say he ranks somewhere in the mid 40s even tho the list had him in the mid 50s. And no the contract isn’t an issue but it can be at some point since it’s for so long with a no move. Plus at that dollar amount he will never play up to that contract. Especially when you look at players like Hughes and Hedman getting paid 2mil less than jones.

Jones not worth his pay grade...but itvis what is is=albatross cobtract. To me if Jones plus minus goes to zero to plusx10 ,still not worth the money but acceptable...his numbers should improve as team gets more competitive and scores more at 5x5.. Vkasic helped Jonesxa lot to cut down from-39 to "just" -15 ...So Hawksxscoring morec5x5 means those stats should get hopefully into the plus side. However it is obvious Jones has poor defenisivevinsticts and offensively his shot has been more like 95cents vs.$9.5 million level.. so my answer is NO,I do not like Seth Jones asxa dman...Even though his shot is poor he should be a forward ...not dman.. He can carry pucks into the o-zone and do it more once Hawks get pucks back more in dzone...and once in ozone he can be a power wingers causing havoc for opps dmen ...and otherHawks forwards can take advantage of that.. On defense his gao control is bad..his instincts to follow tgevpkay coming at him leave a lot to be desired..Hevus bad when pucks get to our crease...does not box out or clear properly.. He us too inconsistent sgiftvtonshift. Yes he has stamina to pkay big minutes.. thatvisxathleticism..but hiscdefensive brain is way too shut down.. Vladic did what he coukd to help Sethand bail him.out..but you can only do so much with a flawed defensive mind as your partner. Seth woukdvbe more effective if freed from using his mind...a movevtobforward would cure this.He can rush pucks into o-zone ...then occupy checkers while our scoreers get more room to finish off pkays.

Jones get a ton of unnecessary heat in my opinion. I would argue he makes about $1 million too much annually but he eats minutes and has held his own through a terrible era of Hawks hockey.

He's definitely overhated, but issue is that he makes about $1 million too much RIGHT NOW. We are paying him that same amount well past him prime when we hopefully have lots of young guys to sign.

I gotta take anything with a grain of salt here bc if Seth jones was a fan favorite, these guys would be telling us how he’s really not that great. Add to it that Patrick Kane, public enemy number one on this show, had a public on ice issue with him? Ohh yea lol.. His absence was definitely noticeable but that’s really not saying much. He has positives to his game for sure but his hockey sense and decision making are terrible. Right now, it’s not that bad…but in a few years when we’re hoping to contend and he’s being paid what he is, it’ll be more glaring. He was grossly overpaid during a window where they thought they were closer than they were 🤷‍♂️ idk why these guys fight it so much. Seth is ok, he’s not worth what he’s paid

Seth is not a top pair defenseman on a contending team. Period. We hope to be contenders while he’s still playing…so he’ll be being paid like a top pair defenseman when he’s not one 🤷‍♂️ sooner or later, Kyle will have to do something about it. For now, it’s not a huge huge concern

@@servantofthesong I've felt the same way...I wish there was another option bc I really would go elsewhere. You don't get honest discussion about the Hawks from the perspective of fans...CHGO Blackhawks is Davidson propaganda. Anything discussed by fans that doesn't tow the company line is scolded and ridiculed as if these guys are employed by the org itself. They have their positive moments, they can be very funny at times...but their stance on the dynasty and Patrick Kane in particular, makes it really hard for me to embrace them- calling Bowman "He who shall not be named" and having a swear jar for mentioning 88s name? What kind of Hawks podcast is this?? I really wish there was another Hawks centric, daily hockey podcast but there really just isn't

@@domcagney2352 Agreed. If there were any legit Hawks podcast that did in depth post-game coverage, I would ditch CHGO Blackhawks in a heartbeat. I love their Bears coverage, but their Hawks coverage is a joke, and it's only because they have zero competition that they still exist in their current state.
