If Crosby stays, that literally means quite the opposite that Malkin and Letang have to go. Crosby is the reason those two are re-signed. Crosby went to Florida to convince Geno to come back and keep those 3 together. Why would he do that and then have them get traded or leave himself?
@shreksswamp11823 ай бұрын

@@shreksswamp1182 I’ll never not have hope as long as those 3 are on the team. Yes at some point the wheels will fall off, but the reason they missed the playoffs was not because of their big buys. The bottom six was a sieve and the power play was abysmal. As much as Guentzel is better than Bunting, Bunting is exactly what we need. A scratch and claw front of the net guy on the power play. Hornqvist 2.0. And frankly I see that trade as the equivalent of when the Penguins traded James Neal, the much better player, for Patric Hornqvist, a much more needed player. Bunting will help the power play, and the bottom six was improved this free agency period. And if the bottom six ends up sucking again, most of the players we signed this year were one year contracts. Those will all come off the books. Petry and Smith’s retentions will come off the books. They’re projected to $30 million in cap space next year to play around with

In regards on trading Crosby. I feel, a good pick and a good prospect back is a good goodbye present from Crosby.

For the capitals the added bonus is Ovi chasing gretzky record makes them relevant no matter what and they decided "well what if we are relevant and good for a bit" The pens haven't done that approach they keep hitting their head against the wall and wondering why their head hurts. They higher Dubas who is a younger version of GM model they previously had lock up core and try to plug holes around them. That's the problem.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there a whole ass rumor that Rutherford wanted to move off of one of the Pens top players (Malkin maybe?) and then he got the axe? If so...HMMMM....what does that remind you of? (Answer: Dubas allegedly wanting to move one of the core 4 and Shanahan fired him before he could)

There were rumors, but the only solid reporting on Rutherford leaving was that he wanted to make non-player changes, i.e. coaching staff and ownership said no.

The fact that no one has done an "Auston 4:16" t-shirt is a travesty.

As a flyers fan i was soooo happy when they hired hextall because i knew he would destroy the penguins like he did the flyers. I've lived through alot of bad flyers teams but the hextall/hakstol days were the lowest of my life.

Detroit been catching a lot of strays on the pod recently. Not complaining, I get where it is coming from and appreciate that we are at least being talked about unlike 2017-2022. If we find a way to unload Holl this will have actually been a great offseason after a very concerning start

Cap cup record. Their are eras in hockey that really divide records imo Original 6 Expansion era (I’m young enough they feel like you could combine those) Post WHA Cap era What you could do in one likely didn’t translate to another. Winning 22 cups when only have to beat 6-12 teams is a lot different then winning with a cap vs 30+
