Gabe Ikard and Teddy Lehman answer the following listener questions about OU football in 2024:
1) Wishbone Willy- How fast do you think the offense will go this year? IMO the offense the last few years have been like a Ferrari with one speed. Will there be more nuance to the hurry up under Littrell?
2) Phil Lawson- Which player has markedly taken the biggest step forward towards reaching their full potential over the summer and thus far into fall camp? 1 for O and 1 for D. Percent of plays the O will use a traditional TE? Will we use any 2-back sets?

Tempo has always had a time and place, but we have overused it. BV knows the plan, and if he allows it and it is not successful it’s on him.

I think tempo is a good thing however I do think it should be more balanced there a situations that we need to slow down and just pound their defense and give our defense a chance to catch their breath

I don't remember what analyst said it but I saw on a sec analyst said that Danny okoya was actually the best and most underrated player in his class outside of quarterback

The personnel grouping I think would terrify defenses is Burks, Pettaway, and Thompson on the field at the same.

Michigan went undefeated and won the national championship with far less talent than Oklahoma. Michigan had discipline, conditioning, and physicality. In terms of tempo, I do not mind as long as the offensive line can dominate the line of scrimmage. Dion Berks measurable are impressive in terms of weight room prowess.

We better only use it in certain situations because last year it showed and hurt us.

On tight end "as good a blocker as receiver" - I want Trey Millard. Not a TE with hand in the ground but can block great and he a problem for a defense to predict how to match up against him.

Out of context, the way Gabe says "so many tight ends" doesn't sound right. 😆

Oklahoma caught Florida in substitution issues multiple times in 2008 and Clempsun gassed Alabama in the CFP multiple times with fast tempo offense. There's your answer why.

One example of a National Champ, thats it. But not really. Clemson didnt run tempo as their base offense-they used it situationally to their advantage. Give it up.

Situational tempo is fine. Pushing the tempo when an opponent is really struggling defense wise I'm fine with, but when you're trying to run the clock and it's a one score game there is no place for it. Lebby was a moron when it came to tempo and game management. He cost us a few games in 2022 and it cost us the Kansas game in 2023.

Tempo totally can win a championship. Based on your defense. But I would prefer a strong run centric game as well
