Will was exactly right! I did a skydive in September and it was just like floating on a bed of air. As I left the plane it felt like the plane was shooting up rather than me falling down. I wasn't even scared in the plane but I was super scared before getting kitted up! I even went back to the car and seriously thought about driving home! So glad I went through with the skydive. I have since ridden on the top wing of a Boeing Stearman bi-plane!

These are the words that filled my head and heart yesterday when I went with my daughter skydiving for her birthday. I wanted to be sunny, happy and psyched for her. I watched this on Wednesday..a few times. It helped me to make sense of my feelings and turn the whole game around. IT IS PURE BLISS when you step through that door...you really feel that you are flying...and then the shoot opens and you are flying in awe-filled peace, quiet and calm. Holy crap...scaredy cat turned convert.

This is so true! I'm so pleased someone told me to watch this! I'm 63 years old and I had a few wines when someone in my local pub asked if anyone would do a tandem sky dive for charity with him. I said no! Then I thought about it and decided for once in my life to go for it! Woke up the next morning totally regretting my decision. A friend told me to watch this, which I did on the morning of my sky dive - totally correct - I didn't sleep much as was thinking of all that could happen - however, up until the moment I was hanging out of the plane I was still scared stiff and the moment we exited the plane, the fear WENT AWAY! Totally replaced with the awesomeness of it all - it was absolutely the best thing I've ever done and still buzzing 9 days later and sooooooooooooooo wished I'd done this years ago!

@@anonymousmink5027 awesome! Just pure joy and 1000% adrenaline. Except when i panicked when the plane door opened. It was really loud at 3000 m and windy, and the cameraman dissapeared in 1 second. At least that was my perception. The jump from the plane was a little bit scarry at that altitude, but the instructor pushed me 😂i had no say in that 😂. And the rest is how Will describes it. I didn't feel the butterflies in my stomack at all like on a roller coaster. I will for sure this year jump again 😁

I remember my first jump. I bought a skydive sometime in April two years to go with a friend and had a bit of an anxiety when we were supposed to do it. The certificate was going to expire after six months and around that time my car was broken into, significantly damaged and stolen by a towing company. Not sure how to describe the feeling but it was enough to where that fear was gone. I had the skydive at my disposal and figured, why not. It was a blast. I did it five more times after, including one I was scheduled to work two hours after that jump cuz I couldn't get a day off work.

My skydive is on my channel. I was properly scared all morning but I was totally relaxed throughout the flight from getting in the plane until landing on the ground again. I was sat near to the door but 3 other tandems went before me and they went down real quick but when I left the aircraft it felt like the aircraft WENT UP real quick! It's as Will Smith describes it. It doesn't feel like you are falling at 125 mph. It feels exactly how it looks. It feels like you are floating on a bed of air. It feels like the ground is coming towards you rather than you going towards the ground. When the parachute opened I said to my tandem instructor "What was I worried about?" For me it isn't the height that scares me it is the fear of the unknown as I step out of my comfort cone. Before the skydive I did some Zip-lining, Indoor Skydiving (highly recommended as this gives you the feeling of free-fall but without the height) and I have since done a wing walk atop a Boeing Stearman bi-plane.

MR.X. Thanks! I've literally just returned from doing another Indoor Skydive session. I highly recommend you do an Indoor Skydive before doing the real thing. I think the two Indoor Skydive sessions I did before my proper skydive helped to prepare me in some way for the real deal. I wish you luck with your skydive next year. It is VERY scary but do it anyway and you'll most probably want to do more! I certainly want to do more next year! It's just getting through that fear and doing that first skydive. I'm 45 years old and wish that I had started skydiving 20+ years ago!

Thing is, this speech wasn't targeting about Fear in Skydiving. More of people are afraid of achieving stuff in life in general and afraid something bad is going to happen to them, but in reality there's a positive outcome from it. People are afraid to take risk in life. People get so comfortable of being where they are at right now instead of pursuing what's bigger than themselves. Like what Eric Thomas said "most of you say you want to be successful, but you don't want it bad, you just kinda want it..."

I'll never do it on principle, because regardless of statistics etc. there is no guarantee that MY equipment will not fail on MY jump. I've got no problem with the height or the jump or the fall....just dying, there is a big difference. I refused to go with my GF not because i'm scared, but because don't want to die (and for the dumbest reason possible).

There's no guarantee that a car won't crash you on your way back to home, regardless of statistics.. If you choose to live with paranoia, you'll just stay on your confort zone. You'll probably get a bitter taste on long term. It doesn't only concern risky stuff like this but all these things in life we're reluctant to do because there's that " chance ' of failure.. I, for my self, try to live in agreement with what I said, but it doesn't work really fine with me, I am still afraid of that failure, I am still dependant of what others think of me regardless of how hard I try to free my self from it. But considering I try to change for the better, that feeling when I overcome that fear of failure, that fear of death, it just feel nice..

Yes but the difference is, once you jump out the plane, you are dead UNLESS the chute deploys properly....riding in a car or doing something else doesn't have that requirement

fcastle the chances are 1 in 6000 of dying while skydiving. Chances are much higher of dying in a car. It's reasonably safe. I did it yesterday XD

My hubs wants to go so I'm the opposite opinion. I will do it because I'm not scared of it. Even though I have never considered skydiving. Look into the place your gf wants to go. You can even ask them for a accident report. I'm not scared of heights and I know the equipment is sound. I may freak out at the jump but why not do it anyway. And why freak out till then.

Driving a car is more dangerous and I drive everyday. More people die in car accidents than skydiving
