Oscars? I can’t, for the life of me, understand why we promote, or even tolerate this garbage. It’s an occupation that is severely overpaid, over-glorified and unessential. Let me sum it up…., they get on stage and play house with cameras rolling. Then they want us to watch as they reward each other with little trophies for playing house real good……, Really??? Just a few hundred years ago these people were called, Court Jesters. Their jobs were to entertain us and make us laugh. How is it any different today. If we want to honor people, let’s honor them for how they live, not how they fake living. We can start with doctors, nurses, police officers, firemen, paramedics, dispatchers, and our military. You know, the REAL heroes, the ones who Hollywood pretends to be. Good grief! Get a grip people. Down with the Oscars. BTW, Will Smith, you’re an idiot.

It's scary to see people going into nationional TV making up ridiculous excuses to support an act of no needed violence. No one was laughing at Jada's medical condition. Just calling it a "medical condition" it's already giving it too much importance since it is not a serious desease - its a condition. It's baldness - by they way she is not bald at all still has plenty of hair. She just shave it and decided to call a bit more attention to herself by going public with loosing hair. Yet can't take a innocent joke. Bold men are taking them for centuries and lets just say she looks bad-ass with a shave head and I totally got the joke. It's mind blowing this people didn't.

Chris Rock is a talented comedian, he tailored the joke and since it was on a sensitive issue. GI Jane is a film about a strong woman who proves she is mentally tough enough for the military. It was a bald joke, but it had a very straight forward compliment and worked in it to soften the blow. Exactly. I guess they thought that if Will needed to be dragged out of there, the African-Americans would’ve been up in arms, calling the security guards and police officers “racists” and claiming that if Will were white, this would not be happening. So those were the Academy’s choices: Remove Will against his will (no pun intended), and face backlash by African-Americans; or leave him alone, and have the world look down upon them in disgust. They chose the latter, and this is what ensued. Either way, there would’ve been negative outcomes. But I now see Chris as a real professional. I hope he writes his autobiography - I would love to read it.

What I like about comedians is that, the good ones at least, bear their soul on stage every night. Actors are the opposite. They learn to portray characters and use that skill to act like they have character in real life. And, sure enough, when a little heat was applied to the actor, his façade crumbled. And when a shitload of heat was applied to the comedian, he was shown to be made of the same stuff inside as what he shows on the outside.

Actors spend so much time being what they're not, they leave little to no time for true self development. They get fed lines which they have to memorize without having to think critically for themselves. It's why so many gifted actors deliver the most stupid Tweets. Comedians draw from their own hardships and observations of life. It's what keeps them grounded. Unlike an actor on a movie set, a comedian is all alone, on stage in front of a crowd and expected to be on his game every night. How the crowd is going to respond is a crapshoot. Every night, a comedian has to earn the crowd. Unlike film, in a comedy show, there is no "Take 2".

But she was laughing at Will slapping Chris. Someone behind them filmed her reaction and then leaked the footage. You see her saying something to Will after the joke, he then got up walked on stage and slapped Chris and she’s shown to be sitting there as her husband is walking back to his seat laughing her ass off and clapping! They didn’t show that s**t on live TV what she did, that’s why Will was smiling when he turned around and walked back after what he’d just done. Someone else recorded what she did. I’ve only seen one news station report on the way she behaved, but that video is all over the place. And their son hasn’t helped things either by posting the other day that he’d do what his father did and slap the s**t out of anyone even if they looked at him or members of his family the wrong way. And also wrote Chris deserved it! That whole family is a mess, and the way she’s spoken about Will multiple times on her show in the past is disgusting! Telling her mom that he’s bad in bed and doesn’t fore-fill her needs sexually amongst other things that no wife should be telling the world about regarding their husband/partner. And her “entanglement” as she likes to call it went on for years even after she and Will got back together and admitted that she fell in love with guy. Oh and let’s not forget that she told her husband that Tupac is the true love of her life and if he was still alive then she’d be with him not Will! And the vile things she’s said about her own children, no parent I know would say any of that s**t about their kids. She’s toxic as hell and she’s ruined so many people her husband included! Admitting that she’s threatened multiple female costars of Will’s when she believes that they’re getting too close to her husband, while it’s okay for her to f**k whoever she wants! No her ass would have been gone years ago. All the memes and videos people have made making fun out of Will because of things she’s said about him on her show? Nope she’s made him a laughing stock for years and now he’s possibly ruined his career because of her and whatever she said to him, too prompt him to get up, walk on stage and slap someone on live TV and then was caught laughing and clapping at the incident.🙄🤦🏽‍♀️

I'm still waiting for someone to explain the "INSULT" of a joke comparing her to a strong, beautiful woman, not defined by her lack of hair??? Aside from the fact there's not a single illness in the history of man that hasn't had a joke about it, including those that are terminal, some seem to forget that laughter is the best medicine. You have to be very weak inside to let words bring you down. People can CHOOSE to be insulted or hurt by anything, or they can choose to laugh. Violence against words is never ok. My dad always told me; "If you throw the first punch, you've already lost the argument." It is the lack of Justice, and any real remorse (PR statements aside) from Will Smith as well as The Academy's lack of action that has most people upset. If Will had made a sincere apology, instead of justifying his actions, trying to paint himself the hero and protector...that might have been a different story, but he crossed every line as a professional and as a human being and living in denial of that isn't the path to healing. The Academy's words and claims are empty as their actions speak for them and they DID condone violence. They gave it an Award and a Standing Ovation.

I agree but I dont think Will is getting away with it will get away with it. The repercussions will last a long time i.e. financially, career wise - doubt he will making any movies for a long time and if by any chance he does, I hope society will stick together and avoid supporting him or it. We all say we are tired of violence. We have the power as a society to stop it if we present a united front even in something like this which in the bigger picture is small. Actions always have consequences. Will will suffer repercussions from this for a long time. To be frank, I think he needs to carefully step back and look at his personal life with Jada. She is a very toxic woman. Personally I think she is just flat out nasty and disgusting as a human being.

@@danford6496 You need to calm down. Will Smith slapped a friend over a joke about his wife. He got emotional and made a mistake. Dont make the mistake to think that comment sections represent public opinion. These comment sections and twitter feed actually represent typically less than 1% of society. Its commonly people that are toxic and self righteous, pointing fingers at others acting as if they never got emotional and made a mistake. Will Smith undoubtedly made a mistake. But he doesnt deserve this entire career to be ruined over a slap lol And it wont happen. Because the 1% as usual is hateful and tries to cancel as if they had the moral high ground. But as usual, nothing will happen. Theres literally millions of cases you dont hear about where entire fights went down and no one was arrested. Nobody goes to jail over a slap lol He didnt molest a child or turned out to be a xenophobic racist. He slapped a friend over a joke. A mistake surely but its actually disturbing how the 1% as usual acts as if they found bodies in his basement
