Just love this man!!! We laugh, we get informed, and then sometimes we cry because we can’t play like you! Question for you: any tips on recording from stereo pedals like Strymon reverbs and then panning them within your mix? So you can keep the effects wide but put the original signal panned where you want in the stereo field?
@SuperdangerStudios
@SuperdangerStudios 10 ай бұрын
So happy you enjoyed the video my man. What you're looking for is a dry wet mix wherein the dry mix goes mono into your interface and the wet signal goes stereo in. If you're using an Iridium you can use the stereo out and split one to the interface. Otherwise you would need a splitter pedal. Lehle makes a great one!
@FenderLewis
@FenderLewis 10 ай бұрын
@@SuperdangerStudios thank you for reply man! So what if I only have a 2 channel Apollo interface that I’m going into from the iridium left and right (channel 1/2)
@SuperdangerStudios
@SuperdangerStudios 10 ай бұрын
@@FenderLewis a couple solutions there but none of them ideal. You could record the parts twice, one with 100% wet effects in stereo 1+2, and then again mono guitar in with no wet effects. solution 2 is have dry signal in signal 1 and mono effects in signal 2. unfortunately you'd need three channels to get this done. Do you have the Twin? It has optical in if you want to expand your I/O?

Love it! Great story telling and also very informative! One question about the Iridium and Flint. I see you placed the Strymon Flint after the Iridium. That makes sense, because if you place it before the Iridium the reverb of the Flint could get distorted by the overdrive happening in the Iridium right? So you use the Iridium mainly when you don't use an amp? But when you do us an amp, how do you use the pedal poard? You switch of the Iridium, but then the Flint reverb will go into the tube amp and then the reverb could distort when the tube amp overdrives? So would it be better to put the Flint in the effects loop of the amp? I have an Egnater Tweaker amp and that doesn't have built in reverb. So I was thinking of buying a Strymon Flint and put it in the effects loop. Thanks to your channel a Strymon Iridium is now also on my radar. My band just switched to in-ear monitors, so the Iridium seems like an ideal solution: saves me from bringing my tube amp!
@SuperdangerStudios
@SuperdangerStudios 8 ай бұрын
Thank you for watching! I put the flint in front of my non reverb non fx loop amps all the time and it still sounds really good. Not as perfect as you would want but if it is low gain or clean it sounds great. But since you have an fx loop the flint will sound amazing. The Iridium is really an amazing pedal. Some people prefer the Dream65 as well but its really up to preference, workflow, and taste. Let me know what you end up getting!
@martinhietkamp
@martinhietkamp 8 ай бұрын
Thank you for your answer 🙂 good to know. I watched your comparison video on the Iridium and the Dream 56. I think I will go with the Iridium since I love the reverb and tremelo sound of the Flint and want a more modular approach. The Iridium seems like a really good amp sim without reverb. A good replacement for my real amp I think

Great video! Yes on the buffer. No, most every other pedal with a built in buffer are not the same impedance or quality as a dedicated buffer, save for Boss, Strymon , and a few others of course. Even on my practice desk board with 4 pedals there is an input buffer and output buffer. You'll hear it in your recording if you want to compare the differences. Does it really matter? Eh...up to the player and their ears but it makes a clear difference. They also get mounted to the bottom of the board so they don't take up room.

When I use my small iJam interface into Logic instead of the Scarlett, with the pedal chain on, a buffer (Mythos buffer for $79) creates a much clearer signal. Some may not like that "clear" sound. Via email, Zach from Mythos recommended that I use a buffer even on my small board with 4 pedals. It just hides underneath the board.@@SuperdangerStudios ss
