But that’s their job. And sally employees are not hair techs. At least you don’t have to be to work there. So you at least should go in armed with your own research. I don’t bug employees that are busy but helping people is part of their job. I don’t know how’d they juggle being busy and helping people who need consultations. @@bennu547 can you please use words that also Europe understand? Only hairdressers use your language. There are NO info about "number20/40/T18, > a toner lift the hair" ..??.. and other words you professional hair dressers use. I do understand that it's in you the working terms, your own language. And a question. If I wait for my roots to the last thing, howcome does it look lighter, it should, in my logocally mind, be orange, due to shorter time to bleach? If I use a hair condition when I prepare all products, how much is okay? Have a length to my shoulder and long, black, in the neck. Have looked at all my packages for getting a blonder hair in the front again, no T18 toner are written anywhere.

This way your viewers get a feeling fot which roots and ends combos they can use on their specific situation (hot roots, bright yellow, orange etc. the right toner combo fixes most).

I get asked very often how I got my hair so silvery. I am naturally light/medium brown. My secret (do not do this and somehow screw it up and blame me but I've done this prolly 50 times on myself plus more on friends) is that I use volume 30 with it. I don't have to lift it so light with Bleach (I always use a bond builder with my bleach AND toner) and my hair gets so much lighter. I also like to add 1/4 of a bottle of Wella 050 to each full bottle of T18 to get that gorgeous platinum silver with a tiny tint of lilac. I've done half of my head with each way and this has always been my favorite. T18 *can* be gorgeous if you know what you are doing.

Yea but I think that platinum blonde is completely different from platinum silver 🤔 so you don't really need as blond hair to make it silver as you would need to make it platinum blonde. But if want a really good platinum blond, that icy almost white hair, I don't think it's gonna happen if you haven't lightened your hair enough. Also English is not my first language so I hope you understand my words clearly.

Also for the con: if you’re a natural blonde and you get highlights/balayage or whatever lightning service that leaves some of your natural color showing if you put a color with 20 volumes all over at the shampoo bowl, the 20 volumes will break your base ending up with your color being brassy because you expose the underline pigment and the toner won’t affect it because it will only shift one level leaving it brassy, and perfectly toned hair on the previously bleached!

@mattiarea7625
@mattiarea7625 3 жыл бұрын
@@x-starlight-x Yes, if you put oxygen peroxide like 20volumes on natural hair it will shift it and expose the underline pigment and most likely will leave it brassy because your natural hair not light enough for T18 to deposit the tone! I am not a professional but: if you want to tone your hair and don't know what to use, what works for me is waiting until after I've lifted to find my toner (I usually use a semi permanent color though). Then I use pictures to best match what level I've lifted to, say it's a level 7. Then I find a Wella dye that has that number in it and, depending on if you want a warm or cool shade, the letter that corresponds. I like cool tones, so I'd then get a 7A (ash). If you feel your hair is between levels, go with the darker of the two. Hope that helps someone!

Many salons will offer edits or redos for unhappy clients. If you tell the stylist what you're unhappy about, they might be able to work with you to fix it. They might not be able to get you exactly where you want to be today, but at least they could get you closer. If you're consistently getting results you're unhappy with, even after you've done research, and liked the stylist's work on Instagram, etc., there might be a communication issue somewhere. Bringing in a photo can really help too.

I have been using T18 for 7 years and I honestly love it. My blonde hair is really light so it just tones it super well lol or should I say, super well-a. Also the “cons” I don’t really have those problems because I bleach and then wait a week in between before I do t18 but yes it does smell strong lol

Thank you SO MUCH for this video!! When I worked at Sally’s I used to get so angry that the “hair consultants” that worked there ALWAYS suggested T-18 to everyone who asked about lightening their hair. As the Nail consultant, I didn’t understand how a product was necessary when we don’t know how the lightener would work on each client. (Or if they even read the directions for their specific lightener to begin with). The quote of the day for EVERYONE who wanted to lighten their hair was, “Don’t forget your T-18!” All I could think when I heard this was “Another T-18 disaster hair candidate. God help that future patchy orange head.”

The second time I used t18 and it was the most beautiful, flattering color blonde and have never had it done as well professionally so I'm not understanding.. it made any orange I had a beautiful goldish blonde. Think Sarah Michelle Gellar in season two Buffy. It was bright, shiny and so flattering. Maybe luck but again I'm confused by it being called an absolute no go.

So I decided maybe Brad's just more of a perfectionist than I am. It should be fine. It wasn't fine. It's yellow for sure, but a vibrant yellow with some orangey undertones still, it's not that perfect pale soft yellow that we're usually looking for. I love using a mixture of T18 and T27 or 35 to tone. It just balances everything perfect as I do highlights so obviously, I have the pale yellow strands, but also warmer strands that blend in with even darker strands underneath (my nature, level 5-ish hair). I'd love to one day bleach all my hair, but I'm not quiet ballsy enough yet.

God bless you for your contribution to society, Brad. Love your videos, but I didn't watch this one in time. I made the mistake of believing that T18 would tone my mom's orange hair after I highlighted it. In my defense, I balayage my own hair and usually get decent results, but our hair is very different and I don't know shit beyond what works for my own. But I gave it a stab and she still has orange hair...on her birthday. 😢 My poor mom! On the bright side, it finally gave her the push she needed to see a professional tomorrow, so it will be a win at the end. I wish I had watched your video before yesterday, but I think she'll be happy once her colorist corrects the issue. I am sure hair stylists just looove situations like this (lol), but bless you all for having the patience to fix it for us.

50 % T18 + 50% T11 gave me a brilliant level 12 neutral platinum blonde (neither cool or warm). As long as you lighten your hair to a level 9/10 before toning. I also pre-washed my hair with a clarifying shampoo and kept it wet throughout the entire lightening and toning process to maximize the lift and minimize the damage. I used a ton of lightener to make sure it stayed wet and saturated. The result was beautiful smooth radiant platinum hair. (Don't listen to anyone saying you can't bleach wet hair, that is simply untrue.)

While I'm happy with my results (T28), I wish I'd thought to keep my hair damp throughout. I have low porosity hair so it doesn't hold on to water for long. Luckily, it doesn't damage easily either, but the results, while great, might have been just a wee bit better had I given my hair a spritz or two as I went along. Next time!

Perfect timing for this video. My daughter wants a strip of white hair for Halloween, and I've only ever bleached her undercut to put color on it, so I didn't need a toner. Now, I'm curious what to use if you get it lighter than that pale yellow you showed. Everyone seems to complain that a bunch of these toners turn their hair gray just as you said it would.

I just made the attempt at toning my own hair (highlighted to a level 9-10 and a decent amount of gray) and because I didn't want to lose the dark dimensions that I have, used T14 with 10 volume developer at a 1:2 ratio on damp hair that I washed with a clarifying shampoo. The results are pretty amazing - all of the brassiness and yellow is gone and I've got my hair back to the nice ashy cool tones that I love. Picking the right toner really does make all the difference. A lot of people who didn't get the results they wanted with T18 can probably get a better result with T14.

I actually use T18 on like 8ish almost 9 level hair, because I like the resulting ash blond that you end up with! The ash blond products out there don't give me the color I desire and while there are additives you can use to get more ash tone, it's super easy to get grey or blue hair out of it. For pure white hair I prefer the ION pure white line but they are only good if your hair lifts to a full 10
