What if that wasn't the case, and ETH was picking him because he wanted to/thought he was the best choice week after week despite what we are seeing - would that change your mind on the manager? It's not either the players or the manager. We all know the players need to get binned, and we'll see this summer whether the INEOS setup can make moves to change that. But we have also seen a team that had the same problems on the 21st of April that it did in Matchday 1 in August, so it's hard to keep defending the manager when it seems like this is how he wants them to play (mainly because he clearly isn't trying to change it)...

the changes made to the way our Academy plays now, to bring them inline with the 1st team, is working so much better with the U18's and the U21s, winning everything, and swatting teams aside like they're not there, but the 1st team just can't seem to get it together, when we see the capitulation each week after going ahead 2 or 3 goals, it doesn't matter how many we score, we will concede the same amount if not more, by the end of the game

As a lifelong United fan I was not to celebrate 'like that', im surprised you could. Was I happy we got through? Yes but I was more relieved than celebrating with joy. I was so angry that we threw a 3-0 lead away to a championship side and was an inch away from them winning it 4-3. We've looked woeful even when United had most of their players back fit. There's no chance he can keep his job next season, even if he wins the FA Cup. The laughable thing is when Rio rightly said he’d be shocked if a senior player hasn’t pulled Antony to one side and given him a lesson, he then said e.g. Rashford or Shaw amongst two others. We all know there’s no way Rashford will be arsed to go over and do it. And won’t have any gravitas anyway. He’s a waster. Can you really imagine Shaw doing it? Barely speaks at the best of times. Would Mouse-like Maguire? He’s usually a silent lump on the pitch. But certainly more chance he’d try than Rashford. And Bruno is as petulant as Anthony. If that’s our leadership group, there’s no wonder we’re horrendous. Leadership’s been an issue at Utd for YEARS. How it’s not been seen and fixed is beyond me. Howson with some FIFA level analysis there and we can't question club legends apparently! Just because you've done a lot in the game doesn't give you free reign to say what you want, Rio/Keane largely offer decent points but Neville spouts the same tone misery without offering anything constructive, Scholes usually the same too. Found Rio hugely disrespectful in parts which I find odd given barely a month ago Erik gave him some time around Carrington. Martinez and Rodgers teams have never 'balled out', Erik might not be the right man but who's out there that is? Half that squad needs binning, we've still got clowns there from Jose and if we get a new manager, they'll want to give Sancho, Rashford etc another chance so we'll have to wait another year for them to come to the conclusion Erik has already come to with some of them. We need to get rid of our injury prone or aging players like Case, Varane and Malacia/Shaw - why should we keep 2 LBs made out of class, regardless of how good one of them is when he's fit. Bin bit part players like VDB, Williams, AWB, Pellistri, Eriksen and Hannibal - complete waste of time keeping them and their values are diving. Start getting rid of wasters with bad attitudes like Rashford and Sancho too, hate to say it about Rashford but I'm bored of him picking and choosing when he turns it on as he has done since Jose. We'll never do it in 1 window, far too unrealistic and I'm not confident we'd get better replacements which is depressing but until you start getting rid of some of them - it won't matter who the manager is, we've got too many duds in the squad.
