Certainly less to go wrong on the Energetica compared to the Ducati (I've owned a Multistrada) That awful noise the electric bike makes! It's a deal breaker for me. If anyone is interested in what an electric bike can do, then watch Marc Travels who is travelling the world on a Zero. Like everything in this country, it will eventually be some sort of fudge or delay when/if it comes to a ban on ICE bikes. Delay, execeptions and probably and extra polution tax on petrol. Shocking the cost of public charging 😮 I'm 60 now, so I doubt electric bikes will be forced on me. Hopefully range will improve. Will they halve in value in 3 years like some electric cars? You've made an interesting and thoughtful vid

Thanks for your thoughts! I didn’t mind the electric noise, it does sound/feel turbine-esq somewhat similar to a Mazda RX-8 in power delivery and underlying “turbine whine”. The deal breaker for me is price and depreciation. £27k has a lot of alternatives. I could buy 2 decent two strokes for that and a nice Ducati second hand!! They halve in value in 18 months, not 3 years! I’ve also seen a demonstrator with < 200 miles on the clock for sale with a third off (£9k discount). This stops people selling, no second hand market, reducing new bike sales. Advancing in my seniority, like yourself, I do like the low speed reverse/forward. Pushing my Multistrada loaded around the parking spaces doesn’t feel 100% comfortable! As for what the 2035 / future brings.. I agree it’ll be a fudge. I just wish people would be allowed to buy what they want.

@mototoki Wow, who is going to blow 27K on an electric bike and it be worth half in 18 months? It's definitely why they are not selling. My MT10 was 10K new 8 years ago. I've still got it and it's probably still worth 5K. Decent value for money and loads of fun in 34,000 miles. I'm more likely to relive my youth by purchasing a second bike like an old RD350LC. I miss those days. (Unfortunately fetching big money these days)

@@Banditmanuk Not me!! My Ducati took 10 years to drop 50%. I can’t justify the electric bike cost to myself, let alone my “voice of reason”! I highly recommend getting an RD. The LC will be a bit more pricey but you can pick up a good YPVS for around £5k, and (if you see my other video) the RD is ULEZ compliant! Maybe that’s a better future for 2035 - bring back 2 strokes!!

My Ducati has a while to go then, but I'm sure it'll be more expensive to get there than a Honda. I Have a CRB500R and I think that'll outlive me!

NO CHANCE! They will never get a bike with a decent enough range, I don't want to spend what I have left of my life waiting around for a battery to charge, and last, but not least. I DO NOT WANT ONE, THEY HAVE NO SOUL! So, it's NO, NO, NO a thousand times NO!!

What’s your plans as we near 2035? Im going to try to keep my Ducati for another 10 years but wondering what the options would be closer to that time. New and used petrol bike prices will no doubt rocket

The only thing selling EVs is the acceleration, take that away and they'd all be dead in the water 😉 Why opt for crap range, jurassic charging times, absurdly poor charging infrastructure, buggy software, stupid cost of entry, runaway fire risks, environmentally damaging production methods or totally unengaging experience? You'd think I don't like EVs 😂

Thank you, super video with considered opinion. Personally I don't know if I could live with that noise, how did it sound in your crash helmet? And the price is silly (as are most modern bikes GSA? Madness) and what on earth would the resale value be like on your 27K investment? Keep the Duke
@mototoki5 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment! I quite liked the noise, well for the two hours I rode it. It might need earplugs for motorway riding or when the novelty wore off? The sound in the crash helmet was pretty much the same as the video, maybe a little quieter. Yes, the price is insane and after 18 months, the resale value is 50%!!!! I'm with you - I'm keeping the Ducati, and that has also dropped 50%, but it took TEN YEARS!!!! 😆

@@mototoki All my bikes are 10yrs plus as I couldn't bear the depreciation! 50% in 18 months is plain bonkers. It may be another 5-10 years before the market for electric bikes is "stable" once the price falls through numbers produced and the longevity is proven. Until then I will observe with interest only. Thanks once again for your video. Hope you enjoyed Suffolk, a beautiful place.

@@TheBimbler Yes it’s a fledgling market and I don’t agree with it being forced on us. I’m sure if it were subject to normal competition in a free market then prices would be driven down and we could make a choice if we wanted to! The Experia was a fun bike to ride and had some good points, but my 10 year old Multistrada is simply a better bike!

I think this is why second hand petrol prices are where they are. It took 10 years for my Ducati to loose 50% value, looking at EV bikes they tank that in a year

In a way the motorcycle industry only has itself to blame, by continually producing ever more ridiculously over-powered machines that are completely unnecessary and in the perception of the green lobby possessed of poor fuel economy. Instead the industry should be pushing light, sensibly powered bikes that would lend themselves to better PR. No motorcycle needs to be more than 50 hp. Even a 30hp machine can out accelerate almost every car on the road. You do not need 100 hp.
@mototoki5 ай бұрын
I’m not sure motorcycles are being given such a focus, isn’t it the policy cars are going this way and motorcycles are a loophole to be closed? My RD 350 YPVS two stroke is 65 bhp, but has passed the VOSA emissions test and is therefore ULEZ compliant. It can also get over 50 mpg. However that’s perceived as thirsty and dirty by most bikers even!

totally agree, once all bikes are electric, whats the difference between them? Those who love singles, twins, triples and fours will have no choice, just styling exercise and a price differential. Not my bag baby.

Hopefully. Soon as dirty old oil powered vehicles are off the road the better. But motorcycles could be proper electric ones. Plain wrong bad attitude to exceeding the speed limits as 10% can be got away with. Hopefully electric vehicles will limit speeds to no more than the limits. I wonder if motorcycles will get full Auto driven like cars will? If not, then I can see them being banned from the roads eventually. As the problem on the roads is humans driving/controlling the machines.
