I completely sympathize, I (until recently) daily commuted (in devon) on a 2T kmx 125 (94), after 4 years of that (and not having any money (or spare time)) I got a 4t wr125, Heck its a quarter the cost (and about half the fun)- the kmx needs work doing to it (over winter hopefully), so I will just use it when I need to get rid of the cobwebs (Mental Health). Ride Safe and Enjoy

@@mrburn6119 it’s great to have 2T & 4T!!! I use 2T for commuting very rarely, 4T wins that but as for finding life - it’s 2T all the way!! Good luck with the rebuild, keep the motivation up best you can!

That's a big list for sure! Totally worth it though I know the feeling. I just seized my 1kt F3 spec :( Just a cold seize though from the looks of it. I got the aluminum transfer off with muriatic acid and after a hone the cylinders had no damage! Just waiting on some new wossner pistons to arrive to get her back together and with a lesson learned! @@PurpleMonkeyWaffle Thanks for your support! I’ll certainly bring more 2T to the channel. I have neglected my RD! Great news the barrels were not damaged, and the crank too. I,m a bit disappointed that you didn’t get that nose fairing painted on the o/s, but I suppose the paint is a bit of a mish mash,. It would look nice in a Marlboro paint scheme, it’s been a long road to get this far, bit of a dramatic bum twitchy moment at the accident junction, how much has it all cost ? Imagine the labour costs if you had to pay someone to strip and reassemble it !, insurance would have probs written it off,,mot sorted, so will miss the tzr content, cheers,.

@cabovermike Very good point! I have a spare nose one that I’ll get painted in matching colours. The original has been very patched up but I used that one as it matched the fairing lowers. I’ll do that over the summer when I have a bit more cash! Talking of cash I think I’ll need to add that up, a few parts and the majority of money going into Maidstone Motoliner for the straightening. As for TZR content I’m going to get this on the dyno at some point and of course I’ll be taking it out for meets! Thanks for being part of this journey with me!

It’s all lies! My bike conforms to the emissions standard , but, because it’s pre-06, it’s not automatically conforming, this means I have to pay £175 for something that is already conforming. Kawasaki U.K., cannot supply certificate of conformity, for pre2003 bikes, but, if my bike was younger by two years, it would be fine, even though it’s no different from the later bikes? That’s what is so, unfair!? And it has made No difference to the air quality in London. Fact. It is more poisonous using the underground, due to air quality, so, they aren’t going to charge the train driver £12.50 or close the whole underground network? Unfair tax on the motorists. Always was!
@mototoki
@mototoki Ай бұрын
You are right! Most bikes and all two strokes are compliant but it’s up to us to pay to prove it. I’ve paid £175 to prove an RD 350 compliant and my mate paid to prove a TZR 250 is compliant. Doesn’t make any difference to anyone else with an RD or TZR, everyone pays. That said £175 once off is better than the same again every month into a corrupt scheme!

Leak down tests are an absolute must in my opinion. I haven't had a kit until last year and both my bikes and 3 or 4 of my dads were ALL leaking air! My TZR 1kt was leaking at the manifold, my RZ350 F2 was leaking at the power valves and my dads was valves and base gasket. Every bike ran better after re-sealing. A MUST!!

Being the “ torque Meister” that you are, is there no torque settings on exhaust studs,?.that’s come together quickly fair play, as it’s not an sp, is it a standard 3XVR, or spr ? dry clutch puzzles me ? How much power does it make with the zeal on it ?, on my old sp I had an m max Speedo plugged in, didn’t do anything for hp but speed restriction not a problem, happy days on the start up, nowt like firing a bike up successfully after a strip down, sounds sweet, just one word of advice on the first test ride……caution,.! Good luck and we’ll done,.cheers,.
@mototoki
@mototoki Ай бұрын
Yes I do tend to reach for the manual for those settings! I’m going to look it up now and check the torque for them, glad you spotted that. It’s an RS so it’s got the dry clutch over the R model but doesn’t have the bigger carbs or suspension of the SPR. That said I do have an SP rear shock, yellow spring and the R is red. That gives compression and rebound over standard. I’ve had porting work done by Martin77 and I’ve set the Zeel up with an unrestricted map, so it should make 55 at a push. I will dyno this at some point but maybe I’ll leave that for next year! Thanks for your advice, and support, in this project. It’s very appreciated!

@mototoki

I can’t remember the exact distance but it’s something like 8km. The bike is set up on the rolling road and then a normal ride profile is copied from the computer. The operator follows this and it is a very easy ride. No high revs, like riding with a police car following you!

Good video. 👍 Wouldn't an air leak affect the engine performance, i.e. you'd normally do such testing as part of a fault diagnosis, as opposed to a regular maintenance check? 🤔
@mototoki
@mototoki 2 ай бұрын
Thanks Derek! Every time you take the engine apart you should do this to check the base gaskets & inlet stubs are sealed. It's also a good idea to do this check if you suspect a leaking crank seal, which is easy to spot on the gearbox side (horrid exhaust smell), but less obvious on the alternator side. A big air leak will be noticeable by the inability to hold a low and steady ticker, or poor starting. A smaller leak may make the engine actually seem more powerful as it'll lean the mixture at high rpms at the cost of cooling and lubrication!
