Bob, I went through decades of how to properly maintain a home pool in high temp climate (southern California Desert area, without using a pool guy), I will share my secret and all others who read. First figure your size pool per gallon, next most Clorine floaters will have a marker per several thousand to gage, next step. I always fill the storage to the top, set the range to the set thousand per gallon closest to your per gallon on your pool on the chlorine floater; The chlorine tablets usually last 2 weeks when filled in a hotter climate. Next by shock packs, I usually used once a month. The next step is to use liquid chlorine, I usually add half gallon per week, due to the added water flow due to evaporation. Next is to maintain your sand filter every month to month and a half and wash out and replace the DE Sand; which is key to a clean pool, I usually slowly feed the DE into the Top suction filter of the pool to get better coverage into the filter; (place pump on high pressure while adding DE). Finally go on Ebay and buy the cheap $ 125-dollar blue sucker (they last 2 years, named: U.S pool supply octopus automatic pool vacuum cleaner), they clean better than any 5-6 hundred dollar cleaner (trust me I know). There you go here are my Jedi secrets to a crystal-clear pool enjoy! P.S run your filter at night, it saves money during peak hours. I ran roughly 8 hours during the night and never had issue with algae or anything.

The price went down to $329. Worth every penny. I've had mine a year and a half. Got sluggish and I cleaned it with dawn and lubricated with a plastic lubricant. Works like a champ again.

I live in Arizona, I bought mine over TWO full years ago.(24/7/365 x2) I have never skimmed my pool since.and my pool is twice as large as yours. I don't use my skimmers on my pool either. I just use the main drain at the bottom of the pool. Just empty it once a week.

We have one at my work called a dolphin. It goes underwater and cleans the walls. it plugs in the wall and has 2 filters. It does a good job climbing up the wall too.

Bob, the wife has to fire the pool guy. If she doesn’t then you know what pool he is taking care of. I used to be a pool guy. This happened to me. I was playing with my boss. The husband picked it up when he made her fire me. She flinched. I left very quickly.
