FirstEnergy Stadium, the home of the Cleveland Browns, is now the 10th oldest stadium in the NFL as it now stands at 24 years old. And on the same day in which ownership purchased a stake in the Milwaukee Bucks, the Haslams are now pushing for a new stadium. And one with a roof.
According to Ken Prendergast of NEOtrans, the Haslams have concluded that FirstEnergy Stadium is beyond renovation and that it was, “quickly and poorly built and may not be affordably retrofitted with upgrades like wider concourses or a roof, be it retractable or fixed.”
Prendergast reported over the summer that the Haslams are eyeing a stadium with a roof as, “the city-owned stadium is used only 10-12 times per year; a retractable or fixed roof would allow it to be used more often.”
The Buffalo Bills are set to open a new stadium in 2026, and the Browns may be next.

I love a lakefront/downtown location for a stadium so it'd be nice if they can maintain that. Cleveland as a city has so much potential for a beautiful lakefront with a vibrant downtown.

The Browns stadium almost reminds me of the Miami Heat arena or Soldier Field in Chicago how it sits right on the waterfront of a large city. I love waterfront sporting venues with the backdrop of the city. Cleveland did it right building the stadium on the water. With that said, I completely disagree about the Browns stadium being 'chincy'. It's a beautiful stadium and has the best view in the whole city.

It hasn't builds a new stadium for the Browns oh, I hope that at least resembles something like either Lucas Oil which is obsolete now, or AT&T Stadium Dallas. But I don't care for the artificial turf. I believe it causes more injuries than it should. So they build a new stadium I hope they put grass on the field. And of course the only problem with that is price. I don't want it to look like the stadium in Glendale Arizona. That is a disaster. And we saw the proof of it during the Superbowl

You want to ideal location put the new Browns stadium where the old Ford factory was in brookpark the benefits of this endless parking airport next door rapid Transit runs right to the front door plenty of hotels restaurants you can put one monster dome stadium there with parking all around it and the rapid Transit right there access the major freeways in minutes the I-X center is done very good in that area

Without a doubt this would be the best place you could be downtown in 20 minutes by using the rapid transit so much room for development and what they could do with the old stadium give it to the Rock and roll Hall of Fame they could have concerts there every week during the endless amount of concerts and a good part about it the city of Cleveland would make money off of it wouldn't that be a change money that would be going into the city's till restaurants in hotels would make endless money for all the people that would come to Cleveland for concerts the world series of Rock can return the Cleveland

A Smart business move would be to add a retractable roof. Who in there right mind would oppose that. If you stayed home and watched that New Orleans game from the comforts of your warm home then please shhh
@smf15
@smf15 Жыл бұрын
I did watch the NO game at home, but those conditions are pretty rare - about once a decade. A retractable roof would add about 50% more to the cost of a fixed roof stadium which is about twice the price of an open air stadium. Who's going to pay for it? Buffalo got it right - new open air stadium in a city that's colder than Cleveland. They built it to shelter the fans from the elements and block a lot of the wind, and the fans largely support it. I guess Clevelanders have gotten soft. And if the argument is to host a Superbowl, yes, you'll probably be granted one shortly after the build, but that would likely be the only one. Nobody really wants to come to Cleveland in the middle of February. As for other events, the current stadium has been mostly empty through its entire existence. Even May-Sep when the weather is ideal, non-football events have been few and far between, so how are we supposed to believe that a closed facility will suddenly attract a whole bunch of new events?

This city is sport crazy, build the new Stadium where the US postal services is located on Orange. Relocate the US postal service, build a state of the art Stadium. Surrounded by hotels and restaurants, build a Stadium village. Let Sherwin Williams purchase naming rights. That Stadium could be completed by 2028 or 2029. Then Cleveland will be awarded a Super Bowl and hopefully by then we'll already have won a Super bowl or more. Develop the Lakefront with hotels, luxury apartments and retail.
