As a Yankee fan, I would open the prospect vault considerably for Anthony Rizzo. Let's go down the list: 1. First base for the Yankees has been a black hole of suck every since Mark Teixeira retired. Actually, ever since Teixeira injured his arm prepping for the World Baseball Classic. This has only been abbreviated by the last September of Teixeira's career and a crucial Game 3 home run off of Andrew Miller in an ALDS (Greg Bird, whose bones seems to be as hollow and as breakable as an actual bird's) and a 2018 play-off push (Luke Voit). Rizzo is mostly healthy, having appeared in no fewer then 146 games since 2014. 2. Rizzo would provide a desperately needed left handed bat in the Yankee line-up. With Didi Gregorius maybe (definitely?) on his way out , that would appear to leave Brett Gardner (a free agent himself) and/or Mike Tauchman as the only left handed bat in the Yankee line-up. Aaron Hicks, a switch-hitter, has undergone Tommy John surgery and will be out a few months to start the 2020 season. 3. Unlike a lot of the other Yankee sluggers, Rizzo does not strike out. Despite topping 500 ABs every season, Rizzo's Ks haven't totaled 100 since 2016 (and even then, 2016 and 2015 were just barely over 100, 105 and 108 respectively). This would put a guy who can put the bat on the ball between (hopefully) Judge and Stanton consistently. Rizzo is 30 so I would want to give up either of the Yankees' tip top 2 prospects but I would listen further down the list and Clint Frazier and Miguel Andujar would be in play, as far as I'm concerned. Either would give the Cubs a serious bat that they could plug into the line-up immediately and they would keep and control beyond that 2021 deadline you talked about.

The one thing that might protect the Cubs with the service time manipulation is Mike Olt. It's obvious that the Cubs wanted Bryant that extra year, but they were also more than willing to start the season with Olt starting at third. He just so happened to get hurt after the deadline the Cubs wanted get past to call Bryant up. Realistically, I can see MLB siding with the Cubs on that one, but will be the biggest rallying cry to get the rules changed during the next contract. As for is Bryant or Willson should be traded, if the right offer comes along, you have to move them. I'm not sure which teams would be in the market for either of them, or who should be prospects to target for a trade to get them. As a side note, if the Cubs can bolster the rotation and bullpen, they can easily compete for the Division with the offense they have, so long as they can be more consistent. It's the other teams they would face in the postseason I'd be more worried about, compared to the Cardinals and Brewers.

As a Cubs fan deeply feel they should trade Wilson Contreras. Kris Bryant is to key for our team to lose him

Slendie Wilson Contreras is one of the best catchers in all of baseball, both arm strength and batting. Replacing him would be hard, but I also agree that Bryant is too important to lose

@@johnwayne6482 I do agree that losing will suck, but not as much as kris Bryant. Plus some prospects for Contreras would be good in my opinion. I mean I wish we could keep all of them but we cant unfortunately.

Bryant is a very good player, but hardly "great". I don't see him as even a top ten third baseman in the majors. I have no qualms about trading him for a "very good" pitcher, or a couple of good prospects. He will not resign with the Cubs and he is not worth what I believe he thinks he is.

He is 100% a top 10 3B in the majors. Tell me who the 10 guys ahead of him are.

Bryant does not want to be a cub anyway , he wants to go to Boston .He's gone anyway with his law suit against the Cubs and control bring near the end. Bryant is not a superstar , just a 2nd 3rd tier player who is one of the worse clutch hitters in baseball . His launch and swing is horrible , he can't hit a high strike at all , and rarely squares up the ball for line drives . He's an average offensive player , mediocre fielder . He's not worth the over 1/4 billion contract Boris is trying to get for him . Launch Bryant , not a good hitter in any way , Contreras ,can't call a good game , and schwarber going to Al to be a dh , that would bolster their farm team and get them better pitching and hitting . Bank it , Bryant is a superstar bust , he had 2 good years and always since high school fades dramatically twords the end of the regular season , and he blows in the playoffs . Adios Bryant .
