Because fearmongering is more effective at influencing people's opinions than reason. Simple propaganda. Fox News most likely is aware of the actual questions and arguments you could put forth against the deal, but they also know that shouting "THEY WILL FORCE YOU TO TURN INTO VEGANS" is just way more impactful (and also generates more views).

My country used to be a part of socialist Yugoslavia until the war of indenpendence. Big government projects always bring temporary happiness followed by misery and economic stagnations along with mass amounts of debt from said projects. From 1945 to 1991 Yugoslavia went bankrupt 3 times. THREE TIMES in 46 years. That is once every 15 years. Big artificial projects never achieved anything.

There won't be safe air, clean water and food for us and our families in some years, n we r hesitant to cut down our dependence on electricity, fuel, meat, etc now. How do you pay for it? How many workers will be needed to build that high speed rail? Those workers will pay taxes, yes? How many workers needed to revamp highways and rebuild bridges? Those workers will pay taxes, yes? How many workers will be needed to fabricate and install solar and wind farms? Those workers will pay taxes, yes? Those workers will need housing, they will shop at supermarkets and Walmart and Burger King, so there will need to be more people working at Burger King and Walmart and Krogers and housing construction, and those workers will pay taxes, yes? And all of that additional tax revenue then gets used to provide for the education and the health care these workers will be working their collective arses off for! THAT is how you pay for it all and build a healthy, vibrant economy, and bring the USA back from the 3rd world country it has become.

@@mateca911 It certainly worked after WW2. That is how the interstate highway system got built, and all of those hydroelectric dams got constructed. The Tennessee Valley Authority, as one example, came out of that. Read your history. It's not a new concept by any means. Add to that the increased taxes on the obscenely rich......like the 70% it was under Eisenhower.......those billions will give the whole thing the jump start needed.
@aussiepyro
@aussiepyro 5 жыл бұрын
Roman Vakula Mate either you're intentionally trolling, or you seem to have gotten confused how wages work in an economy. Sure each worker pays a small amount of personal tax (which should prob be slightly higher to help offset the extra services, but that's another discussion), but what she's referring to is SPENDING POWER ie the rest of the wages. Unless they're relatively well off, they'll spend most of it at various places in the economy that will in turn pay tax. For example when those workers buy food (burger king, local supermarket etc), supplies and entertainment (drinks at a bar etc) not only does it help provide income for local businesses (who also employ their own workers who pay tax), but the government gets back yet another portion of the original workers wages via tax on either the good they're buying and what the business pays. Now, as you seem so keen to point out, no it's not 100% recouped, but a fair amount is, and obviously there's plenty of other non govt workers in the system too. This is where the whole argument about buying goods and services produced locally vs imported from o/s is important, because that helps keep money in the local economy to keep going around, as opposed to disappearing overseas never to be seen again. The more money each worker has to spend on things, the better it is for the economy overall (And I say this coming from the only OECD country to escape the GFC relatively unscathed, due to the govt giving every citizen in the country a one off $900 payment to help stimulate the economy, which worked much better than anyone thought it would).

I'm an Asian it's not my problem. But as electrical engineer , I can assure you that a power grid 100% depending on renewable energies, is the most hideous decision you could possibly make

This woman’s got gumption! Can’t say as I’m as left wing as she is. But I have infinite admiration for her and we CANNOT carry on the way we’re going now if we want to survive.

Give the new green deal a chance, at least will be a step forward from what you have in America now. For those critics, I say thank you for your observations, I guaranty you that will be taken care of OK!!

The real question is, what will happen to all those new jobs created by the need to change the infrastructure in 1-2 decades... I'm pretty sure also the pay for the new jobs to all be far under what people would expect, maybe 20-40k per year. On the positive side though avaliable healthcare would help alot, and the change to the entire food market would reduce polution and the overall problem unhealthy foods do like obesity and other issues. If americans cared about their own future, this is a decent plan for a decade or 2, but it would require major changes in the way businesses function, and forget the stock markets. A lot of what makes america, wouldn't really survive this plan, and unless most other developed countries follow suit, it will have minimal impact on the environment.

Trevor, there are a lot of social problems that originate from or are exacerbated by current ridiculous social structures. One of the most profit social investments a society can give itself is public healthcare and public education. It won't solve everything but at least there will be more healthy minds in its future...as oppose to merely its necessarily golden age past. :)

I absolutely love this image of AOC speaking while 12 men look at her NOT smiling patronisingly, listen to her and shut up.

Why did you not talk about paying for people unwilling to work? 0% means 0. So no cars Trevor. That's what 0 means.

I think its time to invest in something that is cheaper and economical, use green energy, not s depletable costlier source like coal

about those "high paying jobs" our unions have studied the transition from coal to alternative energy with retraining: they make about half what they used to. anyway her plans seems to consist mainly of gobs and gobs of OPM but I think even the vaunted AOC is going to find there are limits to the depths of taxpayers pocketses
