I don’t think it’s all on Keefe. It’s roster construction too. Dubas left an absolute mess for Treliving. Treliving also made bad signing in Klingberg.

But look how many players Toronto signs that flop and then have a solid role on a new team? Gustafsson, Sandin, Marchment, Moore, Barabanov, Vesey, Lafferty, Kerfoot & Mikheyev? You have to remember that Acciari, Domi, Bertuzzi and McCabe were solid players before coming to Toronto and flopping too.

Watching this as leafs are down against Vancouver 0-2. Bertuzzi misses point blank, easy roof on the goalie and he shoots it right at him. I like Keefe he is learning and constantly growing as a coach and I like that. I place this blame solely on the players and our lack of D and solid goaltending.

Coaches should only be judged on the end result wins and losses period for Keefe that means that first season was 27 wins 20 losses

@@shirleydaley5335 my point about losing the locker room means the players don’t listen to him because he doesn’t have a back bone and walks back any criticism he’s put on the big boys until a week ago. We have prima donnas like Marner and a captain who is aging like milk. 3rd line of Knies, Domi and Jarnkrok is more than fine. 4th line is eh. D outside of Rielly, Benoit and McCabe has been bad and Jones had top 10 goalie Save % until they hung him out to dry last night. The poor performances have less to do with ability and personnel, and more to do with a lack of caring and garbage systems. The defensive gaps are horrible and they give opposing forwards all the space and time to pick out their plays. So yeah, this team is not built like other teams but this team will go nowhere with Keefe coaching them.

@@mig3598 that 3rd is not only not fine, it's one of the worst in the league. Don't look at the name on the back but what they have been doing, which has been nothing but hurting us. Never seen one person around the Leafs or NHL say that our 3rd line is doing nothing more then hurting the Leafs. At this point 2 of them shouldn't be even playing. As for the coach calling out the big boys, that goes back to above him, everyone knows he has tried it and was over ruled, no new coach will change that until the guys in the office are gone

@@shirleydaley5335 what are you talking about? This horrible 3rd is all at or above goal difference of 0. Jarnkrok/Domi/Knies at a +/- of +13 which is better than Bert/Marner/Tavares combined at +12. Tavares at a - 2. Obviously +/- isn’t everything and lines have been jumbled (because of Keefe) but the top 6 especially that 2nd line has remained consistent with Bert and Tavares. That tells me they are losing their match ups, especially Tavares. Time to look at the big boys. 1 or 2 of Tavares and Marner need to be offloaded in the off-season to make this lineup not only better in their matchups but more well rounded to fill out the holes on defense. And Keefe has already shown that in the playoffs he gets out coached every series. His in game management is non existent

i personally do not like the current trend of just firing the coach to basically only get a 3 week spark outta the team. Thats not sustainable. Systems are key, if the systems deployed are flawed then axe em. I find this difficult to determine though. Sure there are basic system labels we can go to but that isnt accurate. The accuracy of determining coaching in hockey comes in very specific samples. very specific sequences and how u coach ur team to react. The system label is too vague to coach on alone, just as it is to evaluate coaching. Thats where the problem is evalutaing coaching from the outside...we have no idea if its the player doin the wrong thing or if its the coaching of the situation thats wrong. Those at practices might have a better indicator, for sure, but even at that the discussions we3'd have to be allowed in on to determine these things is in the film room. Thats where ur gonna get the detailed explanation of whats expected in different situations. I dont think anyone on the outside gets that information, as they shouldnt lol. My take is to keep Keefe. Hes got an incredible record. Even at the discussion of playoffs he's still not bad compared to his peers. I mean we have to remember that all those rd 1 exits were 7 games. IM not sayin thats ok or anything, but they were always very very close. People be acting like they just get blown outta the water in playoffs...fuck no. Even at the 5 game exit to Florida they were within a goal every game and even outchanced Floridfsa EVERY game. When u outchance the opposition, that means coaching is doing its job. The executions on the players. I mean they ran into a keeper on fire, m not bitching. The defense is absolut shit right now. Waay too many odd mans, breakaways. With the lack of expirience thats been deployed amidst injury, i gotta believe thats not a reflection of the defensive gameplan, but rather the inability of the defenders to execute a proper gameplan

Keefe isn't the problem. Shanny is. He's caudled these players and given them everything they want. The culture is broken and its not on Keefe. Firing him doesn't fix our abysmal goal tending.

Should they fire Keefe. Yes, of course, he has only won a single round in the playoffs. Will they? Probably not. He is a safety blanket giving Treliving a few extra years as GM. Has he been a good coach? What sort of record would you expect this team to have in the regular season with a mediocre coach? What sort of record would you expect in the playoffs? How do those expectations compare with Keefe's record.? Has he lost the room. IDC, there has never been any accountability on his teams. Last year we learned that Cassidy called Eichel into his office and told him that his ice time was being cut until his defensive play improved. Where has that moment been from Keefe? Players are taking nights off. Nylander has been taking nights off for years and he gets rewarded for it. Why would anyone think it wasn't O.K. to take a night off? This team needs a coach that demands accountability. They have needed to a long time.

Leafs need a new coach. His system is a joke as the offensive zone is mostly played outside the perimeter as they just wing it around and this doesn’t work against good teams and playoffs. The power play break out is predictable the Canucks we’re picking off the back pass play. Yes add Bert to the power play and Bert is great getting the puck in puck battles and should be used when they pull the goalie. The 3rd line is looking terrible and put knives back on the top line and sign Corry Perry for your 3rd line and get Brodie off the top pairing and put McCabe on with Riley. Great video Andrew.

Last year against Florida, Bobroski played out of his mind! Traveling gave out one year contracts low risk, don't gi ve up 1sts, Sheldon did a miraculous job keeping team competing.

Keefe lost the room a while ago. There is no accountability because he has to back track hus negative comments all the time because Shanny says so. No coach will change this until the MLSE board finally says no to the young core 3 running the show. Ask yourself this: Would this core 4 still be together on Boston, Tampa, or Vages if they had the same 8 year run? I highly doubt it.

leafs have one of the hardest sched in 2nd half and one of the easiest in the first half and in 1st wildcard aft tampa won this aft but do have games in hand, they not a lock to be top 8, i hope they do, followed the team since my first game in '71

The benoit mccabe pairing is a good pairing that I like, but that cannont be a cup contenders 2nd defensive pairing. The leafs really need to sign or trade for GOOD defenseman. Mark giordano and TJ Brodie have been really disappointing and inconsistent and it's time for them to go. The structure of the leafs is terrible to. There a team that focuses on taking offensive risks, and being aggressive in the offensive zone, but good teams that do this don't give away the puck and give away goals like the leafs do. They are also 24th in o-zone time even though the last three seasons they have been much closer to first(below 8th in the league).

It's time to either make a blockbuster trade involving one of the big four or fire the coach. The Leafs play fundamentally unsound hockey. Their defence and goaltending is inadquate. If Bertuzzi and Domi were supposed to add grit, it's not working. The lack of leadership is also apparent. At times it also looks like they are a disinterested group. The fans are going to turn on this team if they haven't already. Maybe they should try riding it out with this group for the rest of the season and see what happens. At this point, who knows? And truthfully, I am beginning not to care.

You have to wonder who is making the decisions on all these bad signings, was it Dubas at first, then Treveling or was it Shannahan all along? Next, you have to get past this season and the next. This off season you unload the money and the players Muzzin, Brodie, Klingberg, Domi, Bertuzzi, Murray, Geo, Samsonov. That's some cap room there. You tell Marner no huge raise period. You tell Tavaras this is it, your last contract year, if you want to play for us we are going no higher than 3 million, otherwise bye. You have to buy out Reaves, you can't unload him. You need to deal Kampf, 3.2 is way too much for a 4th liner. You might have to throw something to make that happen, Timmins, maybe. Your 4th line is NHL min money period. You make Jarncrok your 3rd line centre, find good and big 2 way guys for him to play with. Move Tavaras to the wing, find a good centre, Lindholm, have some cap in reserve and go. Oh and fire Keefe and Shanny

I cant see it happening this season, but I do think Treliving wants not make a tougher team, but I don't think Keefe is the right person to be at the head of it, I do believe Keefes probably told players to back off from problematic situations. I would love to have a pest team everyone hates playing against, like Boston.

I do not dislike Keefe, but really, his time here looks to be done, i dont think the players are very fond of him, with his constant moving them from line to line so they never really gel, and i think he has let the stars do too much of whatever they feel like like doing.Keefe is one of the longer serving coaches with one team in the league, and i think that a new voice might have more impact, and i am fairly sure Keefe would get another coaching position elsewhere.

I know Willy got 2 goals last night in Van. but he has done NOTHING since signing his extension, JT has nothing left, kling, domi, bert, don't want to be here, and we have goalies 3A and 3B.
