@@coolcrazyguyer again, the point of capes in the first place is that they are rare. To have a cape this common and easy defeats the purpose of a cape in the first place. Sure, clicking a button on the Minecraft website isn't gonna turn back time to make the Minecon capes any more common, but it's still defeating the purpose of the cape. A cape is meant to be a representation of an achievement you've reached. It's meant to hold a story of how you got there. Clicking a button on the Minecraft website and watching 15 minutes of Minecraft twitch streams are not achievements, nor stories to tell. You don't do anything more special than other people by clicking a button. So yes, rare capes are still rare, but capes as a whole are now meaningless.

Minecraft Capes aren't ruined. It's just the demand for capes has gone up over the years. For example, I started playing Minecraft back in 2011. And throughout that time, I had never had any grasp on a cape. I always saw these rare capes on Xbox 360 back in the day, and I was like, "Man. I want one." So afterwards, I was jealous. Because my favorite KZbinrs that played Xbox 360 Minecraft had capes, but I didn't have one. So throughout the years of me playing Minecraft I was always thinking like, "When am I going to have a cape some day? Because I want one." Then I switch over to Bedrock. Which is when I got my first capes. Back in 2018. (Which was during the time Xbox 360 Minecraft was also being discontinued). So during 2018, I got my first ever cape. "The founder Cape." And then again in 2019 for the "Pancake Cape". These capes, were the first time I have ever gotten a cape before. In fact, these capes were the first capes I have ever gotten in Minecraft history as a player since 2011. And then ever since then, I have always cherished these capes. The most recent cape I have gotten, was the Cherry cape. Which was during the 2023 Mob Vote. And when I did got that cape, It felt like I was getting something special. Like I was participating in something special that everyone was doing. Just like me. So to anyone that's reading this, don't listen to people that shame you for having a cape that feels special to you. Because (Just like me), we probably never had a cape during our Minecraft Journey. And we are now getting one for the first time. Remember people, Capes aren't ruined. It's the demand of capes, that has gone upwards over the years. And never forget that.

remember when i got the migration cape on my old account of minecraft, i was very euphoric about it, then i got hacked, now i have the 3 capes on 3 of my accounts and yea am happy. expecting that these 3 capes will not become common in the comunity, atleast the tik tok or twitch cape.

They definitely will, accounts with them won’t be sold for any extra just because of the cape. Actual rare capes like Minecons go for hundreds and even thousands depending on the cape.

Like you said, the rare capes like minecon ones, will still remain rare and valuable, which makes players possibly seeking out them for its rarity, instead of an idea of having a cape at all, which is much more healthy take.

It was always going to be common. For example, the most common Minecon cape is the 2016 one which around 7500 accounts have. Tens of millions of people play Minecraft so they would have to make the 15th anniversary cape insanely hard to get in order for it to actually be rare. I say if you like the way your cape looks, enjoy that! Rarity doesn’t make it look any cooler

The new easy capes would be okay if it weren't for the lack of rare capes. The meaning of having a cape at all doesn't really matter that much to me as long as there is a balance (which there currently isn't), what does matter to me is the stories attached to each copy of the capes. With hard capes, for example here we'll use minecon, there is the whole story about how you saved up enough money to get a flight to the event and took that big leap across the globe and had the funniest time of your life. Meanwhile for easy capes it's just "I click button, then I get cape" or "i sit in live stream, then i get cape". That's what they're really ruining, the stories; which, need I remind you, Mojang is very big on.

In full honesty, I think that obtaining capes should be similar to certain cosmetics in Bedrock Edition. For example, say there's an exclusive crafter cape for getting the Crafters Crafting Crafters achievement in Bedrock Edition. If you don't play Bedrock Edition, you could also get that cape for the Crafters Crafting Crafters advancement in Java Edition. [And if there's no equivalent for achievements/advancements on the opposite versions, do whatever works best with the difficulty and theme]

I wish that we could still get capes with live event but don't limit the event to 1 place have minecon go on tour stopping at multiple places this would give a lot of people opportunity to get a cape and make them still rare and you could have a cape unique to each location

I've gotten them all I do think out of all the common capes, the founder's and purple heart look the worst. All of the other ones are pretty well made and kind of in the style of the texture update. The old ones aren't but still had some effort put in to them. These 2 I personally think look a lot more simple and rushed with weird colors, like the darker purple bits of the heart. It reminded me of an item in a meme mod someone submitted for an ItsJim video. The elytra design of the purple heart cape is actually pretty nice though.

I personally don't think adding easy capes is bad at all unless it's releasing old capes. I was able to claim all three of the capes in the span about three days and it’s nice to finally have one even though rarity of capes will go down certain capes like the minecon capes won’t go down in rarity unless Mojang decides to release some that is which I doubt will happen.

I remember when Minecraft capes were rare. I wanted a cape very badly, I was very excited when the migrator cape came out. Who knew the migrator cape would be the start of a new era of extremely easy capes to get! Lol There's clearly a difference between the old rare capes and the new common capes, the old capes are still rare and still have value. I don't think all of these new capes are ruining the game, but I do wonder if there are too many capes now. I'm starting to think we have enough capes. Lol

For me its a great thing since I live in Brazil and I don't have money to buy it on PC and i prioritize other things than buying original minecraft. I always wanted the minecon ones, but they were so hard to get, and so out of my league to even try to get one, since you get by going into minecon, and atleast having a cape that fits my skin is cool asf, I think that people shouldn't care about this because they still have rare capes, they are a fraction of people that can still feel special, I get the feeling of being part of a exclusive group, but why deprive people of having any cape?
