These old diesel engines are amazing, some chance of one of them electric yokes running after being left out for years.

Glad this popped up, these old hymacs bring back childhood memories of seeing them in the bog and some farms when I was a young boy mad about machinery like all young boys I guess. I see this is a new channel I have subbed I also watch farmer Phil's so this is good to find.

Have the same engine in a fordson major. It came out of a hymac too. Great engine

What make of an engine is it, great that it fits in a major, not many majors around these days either.

@@martymartin2894 Engine is a 6 cylinder Ford Dover or more commonly referred to as "D-Series". They came in lots of things from the early 1960s through to the late 70s as Ford sold crate engines to manufactures more back then. The Ford Cargo truck also came with this engine

Of course it'll start its a ford six cylinder engine without addblue and DPF regen crap. The first excavator i operated on roads and sewers and plotworks. No quick release buckets in those days and the pins were like bananas. 14 lbs mel hammer and adjustable spanner was a comprehensive tool kit.

I used to love listening to the 580s as a youngster -especially the 580 BT

For the record, the earth does not go from the solenoid to the chassis- jump leads dont make good power cables or earth cables.
