I studied in UIA years ago, there was no overt efforts to try to convert the non Muslims but we were subjected to many compulsory religious talks. Female students had to wear hear gear like others, I was humiliated by one ustaz in a private interview (which he did for all students in his class) for not wearing a proper and he gave me a C for my exam. I think he is no more teaching in UIA. Thank god. On the other hand, my Constitution lecturer told me not to wear such attire since I am not a Muslim. I really salute him for upholding my constitutional right. He is now very active in politics.

Saya tidak hairanlah jika JAKIM menyangkal itu sudah kebiasaan mereka, bagaimana boleh menjadi wakil Islam Malaysia (maafkatakan ini) kalau boleh berbohong...maaf saya katan sebab dalam keluarga besar kami ada 3 Melayu menikahi adik dan anak buah saya dan mereka kesulitan hidup sekarang ini (walaupun sudah diingatkan kerana terpedaya dengan cinta berbayar dan janji-janji manis). True, very very true. There are cases where the poor dayak students were given money to convert and it is just a one time cash handout. It is an evil way to make people to convert. Very very evil indeed. There are stories where these converts wanting to revert back to their old ways and they bring parangs to the agama offices to get them to release them from the converted religion where they managed to be released. These are old stories in the 1970s. These are during the era of Rahman Yacob who had converted lots of the punan and other dayaks in niah. Evil guy.

1. This is true also where I used to live. There was an orang asli village nearby. Those converted have a brick house. Those did not live in a makeshift hut. 2. I also know many Muslims who do not practice their faith. Once I asked one of them. He declared he wasn't a Muslim as he had not recited the shahada when he became matured. In Sarawak, Muslim clerics go to longhouse to try to convert the majority Christian Dayaks. But Christian clerics are not allowed to try converting Muslims, not that there are any as far as we know. I understand there are promises of incentives, financial or otherwise. I think it is best for Muslim clerics not to try to buy converts. It cheapens lslam!

Orang asli always be cheated..due to uneducated..eg married orang asli woman then left her or promise $$$ if convert. But after conversion, contribution of $$$ stop or when make IC..officer just type the religion for them.

Oh just one example in Sarawak. A kelantan teacher sent to smk long lama became the hostel warden. He finally married a penan but means he has been converting her since the girl was 16. The man then got her family in long beruang to convert. Then they demand to have a sursu build to be able to pray.
