Seeing my Favorite KZbinrs/Pod casters Falling in love with the joys of The L300 Delica makes me super happy. I have had my Delica since 2005 and it has been faultless (apart from some bits of rust) Mines a Manual and a Petrol engine tho'
@ryanliu1169Күн бұрын
My uncle, who has since passed away, imported a Delica in the mid-90s when he moved to the UK. It was F-regged and it was so rare and unusual that the other kids at school would laugh at it and me when I was picked up by it. My aunt would recline and put her foot on the ledge just like Rory did. Thanks for bringing back the memories and great video.

Once owned a '93 L300 Delica. While driving up a long but subtle hill section of road, foot pressed hard to the floor, I was overtaken by 35-tons of cow juice and a Lada Niva. The Delica / off road toaster was great fun to drive, just needed a better power-plant.

Great van Alex. I had the 2wd version. You can easily adjust the kick down cable for the transmission so it doesn't kick down randomly on the highway. Adjust it where it meets the injector pump. Also, once the cooling system is sorted, It's pretty easy to up the boost to about 10psi for much better torque up hills. As standard, the waste gate never fully closes, but you can adjust the rod to close it and bring the boost on much earlier. And yes the fuel tank is very small and half full on the Guage is really only quarter full.

When I was a child, my parents had two of these Mitsubishis. Without 4WD and with a bench in the first row, so we could sit 8+1 people in this brilliant bus. Here in Germany they were called L300. And they were also available with a glass roof and swivel seats.
@gato311Күн бұрын
A friend of mine exported in the 90s an L300 AWD with AT-tyres 5 gear manual petrol variant from Germany to Chile. I got to drive it quite a lot over there and it proved to be a very nice car especially for rough roads in the Andes and sleeping in it. I also went to skiing and we always managed to convince chilean police to let us pass without putting the mandatory snow chains as we as Germans claimed to have "experience" while others where struggeling even with chains in their 2WD cars. Off road capabilities even on landslides, rocky riverbeds, etc. was pretty good. The car felt especially nice on wide sweeping open gravel roads as I love the feeling of drifting while seated on the front axle. I suppose with diesel AT variant it wouldn't work that well. The manual petrol could easily maintain a speed around 130-140 km/h. But fuel consumption was high with around 14-15 l/100 km. Negatives: - headlights prone to be damaged by rockchips - low autonomy due to the high consumption an small tank - alternator is easily soaked in water and will fail, especially when driving for prolonged periods in salt water (for example in Uyuni salt flats in Bolivia)

I had an L400 Delica for many years and it was superb in all aspects. The interior was so spacious. I could get 2 mountain bikes in it (not dismantled) and still 4 people in comfort, and once did a run to airport for holiday with 6 people and all the luggage. And of course, it was great off road.

The number of Delicas on the road will be skewed by the fact that a whole lot of them, like yours, are imports. Imports don't usually show up with the model on the database, it says "Mitsubishi, Model: Unavailable" when checking your one too. So those won't really show up on howmanyleft, so that's 137 UK-sold Delicas left on the road.

Going to new places, seeing historical architecture (Dijon) and sporting venues (Reims) I thought it was a true example of being with your mates and having properly good time, that you will remember forever. More PLEEZ ... Questions about Del : 1. Is he switchable between 2 & 4 wheel drive ? If he is, 2 wheel drive will be more economical on the long tarmac/road sections & 2. Does Del have lockable diffs ? If he does have them, unlock 'em and he'll roll easier/more economically on the open roads. 3. What tyre pressures were you running on this trip ? 40 psi all round will help on mpg.

It was all nice until someone noticed, maybe a bit too late, that in Spanish, "paja" and "pajero" also mean "wank" and "wanker". So, if you ever come across a Mitsubishi Montero (

Brilliant video guys I have heard of the Delica as there's a chap in Northern Ireland not far from where I live and he specialises in Japanese imports and I'm convinced I saw a Delica in his yard for sale. It was many years ago as I was looking at an MR2 turbo but when I realised I couldn't afford to insure it I didn't go back. Alex is indeed correct it is rare and should be kept, I think if it doesn't have a turbo then fitting one would be a good idea and maybe some graphics like you mentioned.

Always here for an old obscure car. Much much better than videos of cars I can't and will never be able to afford by other KZbinrs.

What a great video, its clear It took a lot of effort and economic muscle but it really shows. This car seems so well designed you guys should definately put it against other 4x4 because It seemed really capable.

Love a Delica, had one on a P plate years ago, was a fresh import and IMMACULATE, was the later shape with 4 captains seats and a back bench! We used it during our festival phase 🤣. My wiiife used it but changed jobs and it was too much on fuel for the additional commute. Think about that car often would have loved to have been able to keep it 😢 Would love to see more content on yours 😊

I think they used to be one of these in my road. Haven't seen it for ages. Remember when everything wasn't an SUV that was a fun time. We have a minivan we wanted to be a bit more off road so big shocks and springs with the biggest bumper we could find, a solid 4 wheel drive system and tweak the engine a bit.

Reims!!! I need to go there!!! What a place 😮 And "Dell Vs (insert; car/ test/ shenanigans)" would be a great series. With no mods at all, test all sorts, camping, off roading, track day, drag race, haulage challenge etc, then do mods, then do same tests again perhaps 🤔🤷🏼♂️ Love the channel, keep up the good work lads EGG 🥚

Keep Del! Fix the gearbox thing (somehow), maybe it will fix the MPG. Then maybe do a luxury thing in there? refresh the seats, get a bit of luxury stuff (on the cheap)... a cooler, big screen TV/projector... well I don't know... but make it really really comfortable in there for lets say 3-4 persons?

Great episode and podcast, the 3 of yous worked great, a lot of work behind the scenes but it worked out great guys. This probably works great for specials throughout the year. Best of luck for 2025 lads

Great video guys, pretty sure we've had a few of them in Hereford over the past 20 years. Good car and very underrated. As its not for speed or noise why don't you consider a collab with a ev conversation company and get Del kitted out with loads of cool extras. You won't have to worry about mpg then 😎

Visited Reims many years ago on a banger rally with the General, an elderly and rather holy Ford Mondeo General Lee copy, complete with dixie horns. Much merriment was had not racing the other members of the group through France, Switzerland and Italy, particularly Sabine the Rally Machine which was the other Mondeo. Both made it home while many fine machinery failed. You should organise your own banger rally. It would be mucho popular.

Owned a few k24 and k34 L200's with the 4d56. They respond really well to an intercooler and a bit of extra boost.
