They waited until the last couple of days to build a decorated, fancy camp, just in time for Bear Grylls to turn up and go _"Wow, you ladies are such good survivors,"_ after we just watched them spend six weeks sleeping on floors and coming close to dying at every turn without food conveniently turning up. Hell, they spent the first week split up, lost and without ANY real camp. Bear, what show do you think we all just watched?

This makes me suspect that heavy editing was done to the point that is not fully honest of how it really happened. Their final camp was probably not during their last week or final days.. Also, they all suddenly got better at fishing for no given reason.. And to wildly suspect even more.. I think Laura (as somebody who even attempted to row across an ocean) had fishing expertise all along.. they probably got it going by 2nd or 3rd week; The editing of the show just made it look like they all were completely miserable and clueless for 5 weeks.. which seems really unrealistic for me..

The sad thing is that the women agreed to the ridiculous help they were given ie the baked beans, the helpful fisherman, the pigs!, the extra fire making kit, the constant calls to the doctors every five minutes, they could have turned round and said we either succeed without any help or we go home and they decided to cheat just to make sure the production team got a TV programme to sell. What a joke and so politically correct because we couldn't have the ladies fail in our new progressive society could we.

Naturally women don’t work through a leadership type system. Groups of women always tend to be more equality based, everyone is their own boss, we all get a say in things. And that just doesn’t work good at all. There always needs to be a leader it’s not a bad thing either. Men have always worked more from a hierarchical system. You can kinda tell that from the men’s group. Although I wasn’t sure exactly who the leader is you can kinda tell that the guys who did more and had more to say sorta lead the group. Like the dude in the glasses and the other guy can’t remember his name.

If the production team hadn't told them where to find the "scouting party" at the beginning, they wouldn't have lasted a week. Men’s island: Normal difficulty Men: struggle at first but eventually get through it with flying colors. Women’s island: Easy difficulty Women: end up using cheat codes and still struggle all the way through.

Did 'The Island' producers help the women? Sure. And they helped the men too. How do you think posh Sam's fishing nets suddenly got so many fish? How did Will manage to catch fish almost every day? As for the plastic spoons, did you see how much plastic junk was washed up on that beach? If both teams found fishing nets on the beach, it's quite plausible the women found spoons. Maybe the men just didn't care about that. At any rate, both teams had help. But guess what? It's a TV show! Every "reality" TV show is produced (ie. faked) to some extent. The producers want to make sure there is plenty of drama, but they aren't going to let the contestants all leave after 1 week, or get so ill they might die. So, yes they intervene. But if you think the women weren't resourceful, I'd like to see you try living 6 weeks on a remote island.

I think its very disingenuous of Bear Grylls to not disclose what parts of the show are real and what are not. There are clearly several instances of extreme luck that are not similar to the men's episodes including the double chance pig snare, in which we never saw more than a snippet of the women setting it up or how it works, the Baked Bean discovery, in which the cans labels have clearly been ripped off because the top of the can is rusty and the body of the can is not ( 24:15 ). Did the women do this? These are not the only discrepancies but in my opinion the most flagrant. I really hope they didn't just lie and ruin the integrity of this amazing concept, it should be fair for both genders but at the very least it should be disclosed that they will be receiving help to finish the 6 weeks if that is indeed the case. PS: Come on guys, a passing fisherman...really...

In my opinion, it does prove the question of who would be able to survive more comfortably. When the production crew stealthily helped the men, it was done in such a way that it took a second look or expert knowledge from the viewer to spot. Despite the times they were helped, it still felt believable that they would have survived without the help. When the production team helped the women, it was obvious even to viewers without survival knowledge that they were getting help, and Grylls also had to make commentary over those moments to try and deflect from the blatantly obvious facts. Despite the huge amount of help and support the women got, they still barely scraped through, and it doesn't seem very likely they would have survived without the interference. I agree that Grylls has a responsibility to keep the viewers engaged, if he had not interfered, the women would have been evacuated in the first week.

I think it's funny that when the women start to organize, they decorate. Decorate the pathway, decorate the trees, sweep the sand... if this isn't proof of the difference in nature between men and women, I don't know what is. But I think it's great. I don’t know if anyone has noticed other than me, but the women really don’t look all that emaciated for all the weight they had apparently lost. Usually you can start to see the clavicle protruding, with the shoulder bones more defined. The scapula should be visible from the back. In addition, their faces all look rather puffy cheeked (sorry, I don’t know the medical term). In comparison, the men do look like they had definitely lost weight. It could be just me, but the women really don’t look like they have missed many meals at all.
