Does anybody else have suspicions about the womens camp? They did nothing for four and a half weeks, sleeping on the sand every night then suddenly at the end managed to build an entire camp with shelter and a table, chairs and benches that we never saw them making.

We never saw them do a LOT of things that we saw the men do Didnt see them make traps start to finish. Didnt see them catch the big pig, it just vaguely showed the pig stuck in a ditch for some strange reason.. which they just let walk off slowly.. Didnt see them actually kill the pigs, or gut them, barely evidence of them skinning or taking out the meat either. Didnt see them actually start to finish make fire, it loved to jump cut to the end with the smoking bundle. Kept saying how dehydrated they were yet they all had pristine skin and no cracked dry lips... its all lies

And the pigs that were just laying there and tied down. Then 2 other baby pigs that had no mother and followed them around. They also nearly died of dehydration until men had to step in and tell them to stop being babies and wash the water canister.

I'm really pleased they included Will in this as he only left the island to avoid lifelong disability, not because he couldn't have seen it through to the end.

Honestly, I think even if it was a legit survival scenario (where emergency evacuation/medical treatment wasn't available at all), he would have survived the island. And it wasn't worth the lifelong disability just to prove that, so I give him full credit for making it because he absolutely would have.

Awesome series, the women episodes are really cringe though for so many reasons... 1) The producers gave them baby pigs to follow them around in case they were hungry + 2 other pigs on the island, 2) They sent them can of beans to be "discovered", as if they magically grow in the jungle, 3) They gave them a second, perfectly made bow to start any fire they wanted, 4) They begged for a free fish from a random "passerby fisherman" which he gave for free and if that wasnt enough of an insult to the injury the women got back with the fish at their camp boasting about it as such an amazing achievement... as if they fished it themselves or something... 5) They told the women what to do when all of the women were about to get evacuated off the island for life threatening health issues such as kidney failure and severe dehydration, meanwhile... afraid of dehydration, they were wondering what to do while sunbathing /facepalm... And... as if that was not enough they were constantly crying and moaning about everything. Im pretty sure im missing something but that was enough for me. Very empowering stuff i tell ya...

What I found funny was that the men's camp was reasonably well put together from the start and developed all the way through. The women's camp looked almost comparable in comfort, but the episodes show that they basically lived on the edge up until the last few days, then pulled out all the stops to get the place looking inhabitable in the last day or two so they didn't look so incompetent when Grylls arrived. Pretty sure that tent they built was only there for one night out of the entire time.

I've never seen propaganda fail so miserably. The production is trying to tell us the woman were successful. We have eyes. We saw them immediately sit in the forest and drink all the water. We saw them waste many days sunbathing and laying around. We saw them sitting with no plan. We saw them take around 20 days before catching their first fish. We saw them "Find" caned food. We saw them "Find" a massive net. We saw them turn what appeared to be domesticated pigs into pets. We saw them sabotage the water purification system by throwing away a water canister. We saw them dying of dehydration and unable to think they should retrieve the metal canister. We saw the water canister with putrid meat in it suddenly be clean. We saw Grylls intervening with fire tools to save them when they were about to all die of dehydration. We saw them fight, cry, argue, and throw fits about not following orders. Only to turn it all around at the end and build a camp. Yeah, Grylls the ladies did great!

To claim that the women were better at making fire than the men is sketchy at best. The women got a fire lit on the first day, then had it go out multiple times, their lack of fire to boil water almost led to the whole team being evacuated. They had to be given a replacement fire-drill set by they producers after being unable to start a fire after 2 days of failure. They spent most of their time on The Island desperate for fire and water. The men didn't start a fire until their 2nd day... but once it was started, it never went out. They were 100% fine for fire and water.

I feel like this show really highlights how biologically different men and women are. It highlights the things that each are better at and what they prioritise. It also shows that at the end of the day, when left to their own devices, men and woman's innate behaviour reverts them back to traditional gender roles no matter how much we try to deny or change them.

Such a bullshit narrative, "the girls were better at fire" missing out the whole part where they couldn't light a fire at all and had to be given a working bow drill from Bear's team or they'd be taken off the island from dehydration. It almost happened again even when they could light fire, they'd discarded 1 of 2 jerry cans used for boiling and purifying water and had to be told to gather it back in as they were dangerously dehydrated. Bear can be dishonest with the audience all he likes but the footage doesn't lie in the end.

Never forget that half of the women wasted thousands of calories and several days wandering around in a gigantic circle in the forest. Then discarded half their water purification ability because "ew, gross, smells bad" and couldn't get their fire started with their fire drill. It's pretty clear they went into this with an agenda rather than to document, and stuck with that despite reality making it really difficult for them to tell that narrative. Which is a shame because what either group went through is genuinely impressive and admirable still - doing this type of stuff in the edit and narration just takes away from the accomplishments of both groups, having made it through what they did.

So they contacted the team and they gave them (came with a boat) the stuff with the perfect proportions. Then they were able to make the fire.

This shows you the true nature what happiness is. Happiness is improvement to your standard of living at that moment if you bring you standard down long enough, that will become your new normal and when you come back to normal life, you feel happy about it because your life improved. Searching happiness is useless because your standard can't go up forever, improving slowly is in my opinion best way to maintain good feeling but you will not be happy forever, it will become your standard and if you can't improve it, you won't be happy. Happiness is positive "change" of your life quality, not something that is fixed.

I mean, saying the men argued and seperated into their beds is funny because I didnt see them once isolate themselves like that. One had initially seperated but he was still tactical about his time and ended up catching heaps of fish. The women (although very proud of what they accomplished) were always arguing every single episode... literally took them 9 days to find a camping spot.... 9 freaaking days man... they kept going through the forest and losing sense of direction... two of the men literally went from one side of the island and back in pitch black darkness.... its not even remotely close... still good effort for the women though, super humbling and I see their latent potential. Amazing work ladies

I drank spring water coming straight out the rock on the side of a mountain. Filled my bottle. The best icy water ever, and still got dog sick for weeks from it till I saw a doctor. Cryptosporidium. Even recognizing all of the insane hardship the groups faced, I still would love to be a part of something similar. I literally dream of what I would do were I to be stuck in pretty much this exact situation. Especially as a camera op who is usually stuck in studios filming relatively mundane stuff it would be so cool to have been such an intimate part of a shoot like this. I am surprised their camera gear survived some of the stuff that they would have put it through. Those weather-sealed camcorders are pretty much bulletproof but the big TV cameras are very much not. Those are very complicated beasts filled with all kinds of very precise, delicate engineering that is very much not at home in such a wet, sandy, salty environment. Also a huge shoutout to Will, Sam, and the other camera ops for carrying around those huge cameras for hours every day for weeks. I've carried a rig of that size once, for four hours, on a full belly and with a full night's sleep and it still left me sore the next day, so doing it under these circumstances must have taken herculean effort. I suspect that's the reason that we started seeing more of that rig on a tripod rather than someone's shoulder the longer they were on the island...

No sé si entendí bien, pero pasaron como 20 días cuando pescaron su primer pez?? Sólo medio hicieron el campamento y lo limpiaron ya en los últimos días. Bear Grylls, you want to talk about the strength of the sexes. I dare you to do this again with a mix of men and women. We would see a natural ordering of strengths. It would actually be a beautiful thing. Some of them men and woman may end up in nontraditional roles, but I think the overall outcome wouldn't play to the narrative the production clearly has in mind.

Watched all the videos in the series. Just wonderful. Greate job Bear Grylls for teaching humanity the greatest lesson that humans survive and thrives when they work as a team. Please note that, our planet earth is also an island. We need to work as a single organism, to survive and thrive as a species. We must not identify ourselves as individuals or people of a nationality or religion , we need to identify us as an organism which is just the part of nature not even greater than the most basic living creature on this planet.

Women: Magically have 2 piglet following them Magically captured a pig that isn't even fighting back Magically find Soda pop and canned food Magically find a fisherman kind enough to give them fish for free And still manage to be dehydrated and almost died.
