As a customer I don't care which country makes the product as long as I get value for money, if that means a Chinese made car over a European car then so be it. Yes, but you should add reliability. How does the product age and am I going to spend an arm and a leg on maintenance later on? For instance, there are plenty of horror stories about $60k bills for Hyundai Ioniq if the battery pack is damaged or needs to be replaced. The BYD EV cars could age like fine wine or like the Volkswagon Taos with its 6 recalls (including issues with overheating and the brakes). For now I'm going to just watch on the sidelines in my Toyota.

Where Chinese cars, are just trying to get a foothold, so they price their car better, and not worried about building 1000hp family cars, and build cars that people will/can buy, which America and Germany arent interested in, they make EV's exclusively for the rich.
@MGZetta9 ай бұрын
The reason EV cars in China getting sold like half the price is they have logistics and massive competion with brands from all over the world. Also having relatively low levels of IP protection compared to west ironically makes them innovate faster and better to stay in the market. I'm a customer, all I care about is value for money. I don't care about the company problems.
If China wants to hit back, it does not need the Chinese government to take any action.... the consumers themselves would boycott these European brands.
@xxl19508 ай бұрын
Unfortunately I beg to disagree. Look at Tesla and Apple there are best sellers in China for so many years. Somehow the Chinese thinks that foreign goods are better, that's why Nike, H&M, Zara, LV, Gucci and so many branded names are doing so very well in China.

EU Comm only talk about fairness when their members are losing market share..really a joke. Pls improve your own products and the pricing
@tm4s4269 ай бұрын
I think it's unfair to judge a product solely based on where it is made. What really matters is the quality of the product and the customer service it provides. Some people tend to overlook the fact that Nio produces excellent cars and has a superior infrastructure when compared to that of Tesla. However, because it originates from China, it is often looked down upon. I believe this kind of bias is unnecessary and we should focus on the actual product instead.

@Fleshox19-uz3qt9 ай бұрын
It's not too late to act at all. The cars may flood the market for now but they are not selling and the EU are looking into the subsidies these Chinese inferior made machines are getting to for Europe to compete with. The push back is coming and it's inevitable for China. As for their cars, why would you buy one of theirs just because they're cheap? Anyone can buy a cheap European made car where you won't be financing an immoral government. Why should Europe be the dumping ground of China's unwanted EV's and kill their own industry at the same time? Makes sense to decouple from China, put 50% tariffs on Chinese cars.

Over the past 40 years, a range of European and American automobile companies have made huge profits from China. But China has not pursued a policy of trade protection, especially for Volkswagen, which derives nearly fifty percent of its annual sales from the Chinese market. Especially after the huge penalties of VW Emissionsgate, VW is relying on the Chinese market to survive the crisis. In its backward phase, China was extremely welcoming to foreign companies investing in China, recognizing its own shortcomings and actively learning from them. I have experienced the 1990s, when one factory and enterprise after another went bankrupt and reorganized due to technological backwardness. But when China's automobile industry could compete with European automobile companies in terms of technological accumulation, the Europeans intended to close the market. I really don't understand why Europe and the United States have double standards when it comes to natural market competition.

EU and the whole West are shaking in fear of Chinese invasion. But litter did they known, Chinese did not wanted to invade them, instead they invited Chinese, to invade them long time ago, to save their asses, business and infrastructures. In that sense Chinese must have proven themselves better, efficient, knowledgeable, graceful, as well as fair traders. Every sector they tuched, they made it either better, efficient and attractive, as well as noteworthy. By doing so, they not only lifted millions of people out of poverty within their country, but through the world in a very short time; even without firing a single cannon ball, they helped to developed many countries around the world just simply doing fair trades and deals, not by Western monstrous occupations, sanctions and Wars.

I didn't become financially independent until I was in my late 40's, and I'm still in my 40's. In addition to having purchased my second home and earning money on a monthly basis through passive income, I've also achieved three out of five goals. I just hope this inspires someone to realize that it doesn't matter if you don't have any of these things yet, you can start today no matter your age. Change your future by investing! I made a rather big decision by investing in the financial market.

Not when the Chinese automakers are threatened with 25 to 60 percent tariffs. No wonder BYD is furiously building assembly lines around the world to avoid these tariffs, with new assembly lines in Hungary and Mexico coming online soon and others coming later. I also think BYD may seriously consider switching to a modular design for their EV's, which will allow the development of different models to be sold depending on the continent where the EV is sold.

European cars dominated the Chinese market since the 1980s and they earned only God-knows-how-much money from China. Now, more than 40 years have past and China starts to export cars to Europe. The response of Europe is to find excuse to limit China's cars. What a shameless behavior! Let play fair! Let China sell their cars in Europe for 40 years, then ban completely Chinese cars. After that, no Chinese cars in Europe and no European cars in China. Only by doing this, is it a fair game for both sides.
