Why nobody has put a case on this issue, one STT was introduced to compensate the revenue of removing LTCG ,then when its brought back, STT should be removed rite. This FM is the worst ever , some economist or person who understand finance should be made the FM. Current Gov is any issue increase tax. Debit fund indexation is removed. Inspite of that no benefits to tax payers, still roads are worst, we pay heavy toll charges, Pollution etc etc.

If you increase the STCG or LTCG of listed shares, then rest assured, the money coming to markets will reduce. Markets are always risky and you cannot increase tax for people taking big risks with their hard earned money for which income tax is already paid.

Congress/INDIA alliance should add to their next manifesto that at a minimum LTCG tax would be waved off completely. BJP keeps their image as the snake that bites that hand that feeds it. The ones that will be most affected if this happens are retail investors who are predominantly BJP supporters. Regardless, most of them would still vote for BJP if LTCG made at par with income tax slabs. So it's basically double taxation at slab rates. Tax income & then tax returns from that income. What a bloody joke :(

All Metropolitan city taxpayers revolt on higher Income taxes. Taxpayer association recommended: Old Tax regime: Withdrawal. New Tax regime: *Default tax of 10K to provide Life insurance (10lk per head) & Health insurance (10lk per head) to taxpayer families. exemption limit: 10lk 10-20lk: 5% 20-50lk: 10% 50-75lk: 15% 75lk-1cr: 20% 1cr & above: 30% Market Capital gains: exemption limit: 3lk 3-5lk: 3% 5-10lk: 6% 10-25lk: 9% 25-50lk: 12% 50-75lk: 15% 75lk-1cr: 18% 1cr & above: 20% Will ease taxpayers as well government.

Govt shouldn't tax too much and become more of a burden to the hard working common people. Look at the food inflation which is more than 20%. Do something about reducing food inflation rather than taxing more and more?

Right now this idiotic FM has no clue about anything. In India they are taxing REVENUE which is what a Salaried Employee earns. They should tax basis consumption and remove Personal Income Tax.

I really hope that Capital Gains are adjusted as the stock exchange has soared. It is not the investors fault. LTCG Equity exemption should be increased to 25 lakhs from 1 lakh, which is a ridiculous number. And then 10% seems reasonable.

Had if Rahul Gandhi spoken about STT was the replacement of LTCG and STCG and if he promised waving off both LTCG AND STCG equity market, he would have got 15 crore votes additionally + FPI flows..Congress in power by now. Mr Chidambaram is real FM who inclined towards real savings to public, and did much better than the most onions Mrs Nirmala uses her sense how to bring more tax, and how to stop benefiting real tax payers. Perhaps India is the only country collecting direct+ indirect tax close 50% and in return zero value add to tax payers...it ll be on all time records..lol 😂😂

People are sick of the same old wine in a new bottle. Rejigging the tax slabs simply won't work. Black money in India has been created for years because of higher direct and indirect taxation. Drastic reduction in personal income tax to bring out black money into the banking system is required. Also, we all know that there are no proper checks on government spending. Both macro and micro checks on how public funds are utilized are required. Huge spends can be done for e.g. in the area of sanitation (like Singapore) to clean up tier-1 and tier-2 cities thus stimulating the economy and having a positive effect on public perception. This is just one example. Government can improve urban roads, traffic infrastructure etc. to improve currently miserable living conditions in cities. Sadly, I don't think we will witness any of these things....just more arrogance and ignoring of the common man.
