Always loved everything I ever saw with Assante. What I appreciate about Armand 's interview is that he didn't try to come off like he had any "gangster" in himself or that he was ever any kind of street guy or part of that world. Just gave his thoughts on what he was trying to do or accomplish when playing those parts

Back in 1985/86 I ran into Armand at Leonardo da Vinci Airport in Rome. I immediately recognized him, waved and smiled as I walked past. He smiled back. We didn't say a word to one another. I had been studying acting at Strasberg's Theater Institute for some time when I decided to return to university and finish my undergraduate program. I was already accepted into my doctoral program and my life was going into a completely different direction. Assante, however, always impressed me as an actor and I knew his entire story. So now, I see two guys in an interview; one is a man I once aspired to be like and one who I believe I would have been proud to call a colleague. Michael, I believe you would have made a fine doctor. However, in life we will never know where our next step will bring us, but it will always be to our future. Che il buon Dio vi benedica.

These sit downs with Armand Assante are just excellent. He's such an astutely aware, "old-school" guy and his perspective on everything going on right now in American society is really honest and regretfully accurate. He’s spot on about The Godfather being a metaphor about the hypocrisy in a mans life. We see this is personal lives, the churches (no matter the denomination), the governments, and the world. We’re all hero’s in our own eyes and failures in another’s. Egotism is the anecdote to humility and we all experience it one time or another.

Such another GREAT sitdown! Armand Asante is an incredible actor. Micheal, you stated that you hoped America would continue as it was for you...it saddens me to say...Scripture, as you know it as a Christian says, No Can Do. Whether its today, tomorrow, a decade from now or another century...we, as well as this planet are finite. The Word of Our Lord is bond...the same today, tomorrow and forever. We need to live are lives taking care of one another instead of mankind's treacherous ways. As the GREAT Anthony Quinn said at his death in Gotti; "This thing is over in like 5 minutes." Keep the Excellent Sitdowns Coming!🙏

IMDB shows Armand currently has 15 projects in the works. This man is 72 years old and busier than most actors are at 30. I think he would be a great older Sonny Franzese. I also think Jon Bernthal would make an excellent younger Sonny. He looks like the 40 year old Sonny more than anyone else and he has the acting chops to play a middle aged Sonny.

Assante was also a hugely comedic actor when he was cast in the role.... he was a pleasure on this planet to watch.... Michael Franzese is an example of the ideal of rehabilitation within a single lifetime generation.... that is a rarity when you consider that seconds don't stop for anyone and the opportunity to rehab is often never able to be realized because of situational circumstance. Getting back up off the canvas requires such tenacity and open mindedness. Thanks for this video !

I would love to see Gotti 2, I just wonder if playing a role predominantly based on prison time would be good on Armand at this age. Like he said he would have to go on a journey to prep for the role but the 1st movie was amazing! Great interview

This interview helped me. Michael's videos have been keeping me grounded lately because I've been struggling. The things Michael has been through, and the fact that he is able to renounce that life and genuinely still love his father and brother and also genuinely wish to help people and make the world better makes me happy. Both of these guys seem like good people and it takes more balls to admit that you don't want to thrive off the pain and suffering of others in any way.
