Great video. It really reminds me of the old days on KZbin, when i first created my channel. Keep up the good work on your channel. I miss the days of finding cheap random retro games at Goodwill. The PlayStation One had some great classics. Some of theses old PS1 consoles are starting to fail due to age but can be repaired if you have the skill. I've found over 20 of them at thrift stores over the years and they've all held up so far. You may just want to replace it with another ps1 console. You got a good deal for $50. Fighting Force was an awesome title. I loved playing it with my brother and friends.

Thank you for the kind words! Yeah, I kinda regret buying this particular PS1 off eBay but that's just the way it goes sometimes. I've done some console repairs and feel comfortable that I could replace the laser assembly on this, but I'm not sure where to find a good assembly

I rented Fighting Force one weekend and I remember really enjoying it. Also, ESPN Extreme Games was my first game with launch. I guess Sony didn't want to renew the license... But this game has really held up well over the past 2+ decades. Cool video. Subbed.

I read the manuals, but I will say I did not when I was younger but retro gaming lately there are just some things that surprisingly you don't find on the internet or you have to dig pretty deep to find an answer which yeah the internet is convenient but if I have to do a deep search and refine my searches to find what I'm looking for when the manual has the answer in like a few page swipes in under 30 seconds, suddenly manuals become relevant again lol especially when playing retro games that not many people are talking about anymore. I definitely had to reference manuals to figure things out as of late and it's such a nostalgia trip lol but in a good way. Also you probably already figured this out but the spines of big cases actually tell you how many discs are supposed to be included.

That volume 2 collector's disk came with Brave Fencer Musashi. Chrono Cross didn't have included. Probably got slipped in there years ago.

I've bought 3 ps2 and 2 ps1 recently due to the lasers crapping out after the first couple uses or the never read. It's hard finding one with good lasers these days

PS1 discs are tanks and usually still work even when scratched up. It sounds like that laser is dying. It's definitely a YMMV situation when buying "new" lasers though. Some work like new and some are crap.

Yeah that's what I've heard and why I'm hesitant to buy a new assembly. You're right though, this one is def dying :(

Oh and if you look at the bottom left of those multi disc games for PS1 it will say how many discs there are.

That 2 extreme had a crack in it if you look closely on your video when you looked at the back side in the light you can see the crack in the middle of the disc where you hold the middle

you might need to resurface the disks to smooth out those scratches. also refurbish the psone since its almost 20 yrs since being out from OG playstation.

Yeah, they did end up working on my PS2 but there's a place down the street from me that will resurface them so I should just do that Any suggestions on refurbishing the PSOne? I was thinking replace the laser assembly, but I've seen videos of people buying replacement laser assembly from eBay that ended up being absolute junk

hey you got a good start to a good channel. And I'm proud to see some other collectors out there. Gamexchange etc will resurface your disc for a couple dollars. I've been in it for a long time with thousands of disc games and you just gotta stay with it. Sometimes you'll go a month and not get a win.

While being graphically impressive and known for its infamous horrible/amazing cutscenes, mega man 8 is widely considered one of the worst entries in the classic series. An opinion I share lol but the bar for mega man games is so high that even the bad ones are still pretty good.

The PS2 game case will say on the back how many disks should be in the case! Also, I read that PS1 games can be resurfaced a stupid amount of times, I think like up to 70?? and be okay because the information is closest to under the sticker on the disk, not the other side. So resurface away!

You should try the ones that did not work on a PS3. I had 10 scratched games that did not work on PS1. They would freeze and I put them all in my PS2 and only three did not work the others worked perfectly . When I put them in my PS3 they all worked perfectly.

Never know with PS1 games. I’ve had 2 or 3 now that looked perfect, but skipped or locked up at specific points. Super disappointing to discover if you actually play the games you buy.

Retro Games look soo much better on CRT. What TV is that?

It's a 13" prison TV by RCA. I don't know if you know inputs at all but this TV only has RF, which is the worst input you can have on a CRT, but it still looks way better for old games than any modern flatscreen. I personally wouldn't recommend this CRT to most people unless you just want a TV that has a cool aesthetic; I have other CRTs that are way better and these prison TVs are overpriced now

I've been gaming since the early 90s and have been to many gameshops and I've never seen anyone clean discs with alcohol like that sure I've seen them use it to clean carts but this is a first does it work good and what about damage to the data

I'd say it works about the same as just plain old water, I just like it because it dries really quick. I'm sure there are better things you can do but it's what I had on hand

I've found good deals on there, you just need to be looking all the time and then roll the dice on condition which probably isn't worth it to most people. $50 maybe isn't "cheap" but it's still well below market value for these games. They also have a ton of horribly-priced stuff, though

And you managed to get lucky on these but its not a good place to buy from. They usually charge gamestop prices with absolute horrible copies beat to hell.
