To help with confusion. Connor doesn't physically go anywhere to talk to Amanda. It's all in his "head". The garden and Amanda are just a program he interacts with, like when he is in the Elevator and tells Hank he was just making a report. He was talking with Amanda.

Your playthrough was my first exposure to this game entirely, and my lord what a treat it has been. Whenever you made a decision and said "I didn't know that was gonna happen", I had the same shock. It's easy for folks who have played the game to throw out "obviously..." or "how could you not know...", but this game shows that you don't always know the outcome of a decision you're gonna make, regardless of intentions. She also says that “why do human hate us” but it’s easy to assume that she’s probably relating bc her “mom” is an android, also I watched a few playthroughs and nobody put the fact that if you take a child from their home someone would report Kara for kidnapping but they only mention on the news & in the reports that she killed a man no mention of the child & also the fact that human Alice has blonde hair

It also clears up a hanging thread from early on of "why would the mom leave Todd and not take Alice?" Turns out, she didn't: she took their real daughter, and a grief-stricken Todd bought androids to replace them both. That also explains why Todd has androids at all despite living in squalor and having mountains of debt: the emotional surrogates were more important than the cost.

Looking back it’s super obvious but of course I didn’t see it either. It is so obvious tho. Like… wouldn’t police be looking for Alice if she was an actual child who got “kidnapped” by an android? I think the lack of focus on Alice especially is the biggest hint. News anchor doesn’t mention her (father killed and they don’t mention his daughter disappeared, stolen by the android?), Connor doesn’t see anything about daughter in Kara’s files etc.

A little anecdote about your question if Leo is on drugs or went to rehab - if you had pushed Leo, Carl would've survived and you would've visited him in this chapter instead. In Carl's house you can listen to a voicemail from Leo where he says he's about to leave hospital the next day. He wants to quit drugs because he hates the person he became because of it. Leo also heard from the nurses that while he was unconcious, Carl was there with him the entire time. Leo asks if Carl has time to meet up the next day and says he is proud to be his son. He really sounds genuine and remorseful through the voicemail, so I think at least in that timeline he got his wake up call

I keep thinking of what you said about how babies are like blank canvases, and how androids are similar. Most deviants do behave in a naive childlike way, young minds untouched by the cynicism of reality. I love that crass mouthed, depressive, kindhearted Hank was the one to paint on Connor’s canvas. I feel like Connor’s empathy was 10000% nurtured by Hank’s. You can see his influence in Connor. Connor’s no-nonsense personality really was a surprisingly powerful mesh with Hank’s LOL
