I contacted your shop and merch store to develop adjustable alignment with turnbuckles or bolts. And you can also design frame cross members with shims. The merch store manager responded to me and said she would get it to Paul. Either you dumped the email, or you don't understand that zero cars stay straight through time. Stop with all the horsepower nonsense and make a vehicle with adjustable frame alignment. Otherwise civilization has literally no use for your shop.

@aussiebloke6092 ай бұрын
No argument here. Lopey cams with big overlap are a compromise design for n/a engines so you can draw more air/fuel into the engine at higher revs, at the expense of low rev power - but can be detrimental when you're forcing the mixture in. My guess is he might end up going back to a smaller profile once the blower enters the building - but then, maybe not, as that new cam doesn't sound all that extreme either.

@henkoosterhof59472 ай бұрын
@hollydog4554 ??? A fuse needs to protect for the current( amperes) in the hole electric system its feeding. And yes, something definately went wrong here. Posible causes: A the wire was not thick enough for the amps the fan drew. B some bad connections ( relay contact connectorpin) caused to much heat. C damaged strands in the wire. I hope its obvious😉 to ,,captain obvious,, 😉 that things dont show that easily and happen while driving. I like the style of fab rats rory etc. Built it, test it, find the weakest link and improve it.

For cooling purposes, it's usually the fan when slow and airflow when cruising. It may be two fold, lack of airflow when cruising from winch/bull bar/lights and/or thickness of cooler stack wherein passing air reaches thermal max before cooling the radiator in the rear. GLWB
@pat89882 ай бұрын
The fact that the old shroud was flush with the back of the radiator (instead of being spaced away) didn't help with airflow. See 24:10. That's probably blocking off 25% of the potential airflow.
@aussiebloke6092 ай бұрын
I've been saying this since he first mentioned overheating issues when driving. There's no way any under-hood fan is going to pull air through a rad at 60 mph, and no reason it should - the car's motion is supposed to handle that. Fan is only for low speed and idling. That shroud being too close to the rad is part of the problem, but I suspect the small grille - which is mostly blocked by the winch, a/c condenser, and aux coolers - it probably the main problem. Using a thicker core might also help a bit, but airflow at speed is def the culprit.

If you can’t cruise down the down the road without getting hot vs it staying cool while crawling really makes me think it’s more a air flow problem more then a rad problem because you literally have no air flow when you’re crawling vs a ton of air flow on road so it literally doesn’t make sense why you’re running hot on the road.. makes me think the hot air is just circulating in the engine bay at road speeds and not exiting out so maybe you need to put a vent at the back of the hood to allow better airflow! I know that’s a issue people have in the drifting world and they’ve change countless rads and fan setups with zero results but when they finally created better air flow throughout the engine bay ( venting the hood) it solved all their issues
@steveout69712 ай бұрын
I agree, I had similar issues when drag racing a Holden VX Commodore with an LS1. Until I put some venting in the bonnet to get rid of the hot air, funny thing is hot air rises. The fitment these days of engines and everything makes it such a tight fit and probably not enough room left for proper airflow. Same with the FJ there is not much room left for airflow so get rid of as much hot air as possible through the bonnet. Edit: I didn't realise the FJ is sucking in hot air at the very top of the engine bay. You need to get some colder air going in the intake.

There is a product on the market that solves a lot of cooling problems. It is called Evans Waterless Coolant. It is a little pricey but never needs to be replaced. If you have issues with cooling system you simply drain out the Evans and then put it back in once you solve the issue. You should read up on it and see if it might be just what the FJ needs. To use it, you flush out all the water, then put the Evans in. It has a much higher boiling point than water and improves performance. I used it in my Honda GL1800 Goldwing and my 1976 Rolls Royce and in my Mini Cooper S JCWs for many years with no problems. Caution: never add water to cooling system that is using Evans coolant!

Did you check if you will need heavier valve springs with that cam? Factory springs are usually not up to the task with a larger cam and you''ll end up with valve float. For your cooling issues, you need to shroud the front of the radiator/coolers so the air can't flow around the radiators/coolers. Air is like water, it will take the path of least resistance, and that will be around the radiator instead of through if its allowed to.
