It;s a 413 out of a 1970 motorhome, bone stock, had a a 2 barrel carb on it, 413 had tall deck heads, that intake wouldn't fit, so the reason for the 440 heads, seats are out of 73 roadrunner, toggle switch on the drivers door is the rear steer, the rear main seal on the motor is non existant ,I left the front bumper on to stand on to work on the motor, I put up 100,000 bales of hay a year, that front bumper was to push the hay wagons into the pole barns when they got to full to drive thru, wheels and tires are 960 lbs each, I did have a brother Mike but he wasn't the announcer, but I did meet him, I raced monster trucks 4 7 years, ride trucks made more money and didn't break as much where the top links connect to the front axle ,needs attention, the bolts don't like to stay tight

21:41 To anyone wondering (I am an ant keeper and have been for years), the species about this time in the video is some sort of Crematogaster species, it's hard to tell with the video but I'm thinking possible Crematogaster ceresi, maybe Crematogaster lineolata. This genus of ant (Crematogaster) is called that because, and are known for, their heart-shaped 'butts' (gasters). They can spray formic acid as a defense mechanism (a lot of types of ants can as well) but the defining factor of Crematogaster is their behavior called 'flagging' where they raise their gasters (butts) in the air over their abdomen/thorax and will wiggle them. It's actually very cute to watch dozens of ants sit there and wiggle their butts at you to try to tell you to p*ss off.

Must be nice. I used to travel daily for work. My territory was most of MS and a little bit of LA. (Sometimes West AL as well) There was no rhyme or reason to my travels, as I was working for a medical supply company. Basically, wherever a patient lives, that's where I went. I saw so many amazing vehicles. Pretty much NO ONE wants to sell anything around here. I get it. People get attached to their yard junk, and are always waiting for "some day". There was a guy outside of Braxton MS that had four 1960s Broncos on his property. Two were just out in the elements, and the other two were under a barn that was slowly but surely coming down on top of them. One of them was just like my uncles old bronco. Blue with white top, and the little short bed. I figured out where he lived after asking around, and pulled up in his driveway. He came out with a shotgun! He said "I ain't selling!" 😅 What a shame. That was the only time I had a gun pointed at me for asking, but a lot of folks were just forceful with their answer. Hey, its their property, but it still kind of makes sick to see all of those gems just rotting away.

When you opened the glove box and there was another nest… and you left it open… and then you leaned in to get a closer view… my brain melted. And then just for kicks you threw the switch at the nest before moving on. It bottles my mind. What is happening? Love your videos. Thank you for the endless hours of entertainment.

So true, I was getting fuel at a Speedway Fuel/Truck Stop & also putting air in a tire. Pulled on the air hose reel & notice a wasp land near that reel. Well I slapped it with my leather gloves and it was fight or flight. Those rascals were flying inside my leather gloves to sting me. Got 2 or 3 good hits by them , but I had the diesel squeezer & just one pull of the trigger & it was game over for James, Carl, & Jesse & their brothers. Turned out , someone had stuffed paper towels in the bracket that held the reel & those guys built a nest under that.

Watching Derek at the live event a couple of videos back just shows the genuine type of guy he is. Meeting the fans and showing the respect for the veterans. He reminds me of my brother that way, he's a genuine guy too that worked his way up in motorsport and became a world champion. He still retained his respect for the fans and his values and attitude towards people never changed. I've been with him all overr the world and I've seen how other "heros" in his sport treat their fans, sure they will sign an autograph but then I've seen them immediatley say no selfies, move on and sign the next one with not even a smile or a "Hello". Fans walking away looking crushed. My brother will have photos taken with you, he'd drag your family from behind the camera for a photo too, have a chat and a laugh, throw in a t-shirt, poster or a hat, etc, his queue would take hours to go down but everyone left with a smile and a story to tell. My 5 y/o just today told me when he grows up he wants to be a monster truck driver. Every day I get with him makes this fella proud. He's my mini me, and he tells me all the time. I've got my work cut out for me. And I wouldn't have it any other way.

I absolutely love this!!! Owning a monster truck is the dream of every gen X at the very least! I can't tell you how awesome this is. Personally, I think the 1776 Chevelle livery needs to have a rebirth on this monster, but if you keep the old school graphics, well...I'll love that too! I can't wait to see this old relic come back to life and make a whole new generation of mini grips smile as they ride along! As always, Derek, thanks for being so awesome! You are truly *theeee* embodiment of what the car community is all about! Friends, family, and the almighty combustion engine.

When it's time to put fuel in the Monster Truck, carry your fuel jug up the stairs, place in ride seat over the fuel fill, use syphon hose, and let physics take care of the rest. No need to hold the tank at all, and it will fill faster. But, you know, your method got the job done in the end... Love what you do, thanks for putting in all the long hours it takes to make it happen.

It is way better to be chill around them, they can smell that fear and all that. I got to admit when I saw them I jumped! Not so bad at the gas cap but the glove compartment and they are those red ones and it wasn't like he could just open the door. I felt that fear. Maybe Derek is immune.

This one was a great revival. Love seeing the work on a monster truck. I really look forward to the possibility of the guy that did the decals originally come back and re-do them at some point. That would be great to see and I am sure lots of great stories about the truck. I've never worked on a car in my life, but I love watching Derek's content. I always learn something and I love to get to hear some of the history that Derek uncovers about these rigs. Love ya Derek! Hope to meet you someday!

I was 21 heavy into tractor pulling and monster trucks. I begged my mother to purchase a monster truck, and get one of her many building supply companies she sold products for to sponsor it. She said it was a money pit bad idea. She backed my trucking business later but i was so upset about the monster truck. I met a man in Asheville NC in 1988 a nobody with a ford panel monster truck nice guy. That guy was Dennis Anderson and the original ford Grave Digger. I look at what he did and think i could have done that.. why not?

Would be sweet to see you build a deck out of plywood and 2x4's for working around the engine compartment of the black sheep. Something like a patio to a trailer park custom home. Get your boys to paint up the deck with cars being crushed under the monster truck. Could be a fun little channel 2 VGL video idea!
