Efteling opened in 1952, the first Disney park opened in 1955 making Efteling one of the oldest themeparks in the world. Most people think Efteling started as a fairytale forest but it started as main football field with two practice football fields and a playground. They started to add more and more to the playground and more people started to come. After that they decided to built the fairytale forest. People from all over the country started coming. Because Efteling is one of the oldest themeparks in the world other themeparks that were built later took inspiration from Efteling. The first ever madhouse was built in Efteling called Villa Volta. Other themeparks copied the idea of madhouse making them arguably better. Also the talking trash bins has been copied by other themeparks. Efteling is not for thrillriders Efteling are more storytellers. There are themeparks in Europe said to be better than Efteling but it is easy to built a better themepark if you have an example like one of the oldest themeparks in the world to copy. You just add better and more thrillrides, rollercoasters and people will say it is better park. Efteling is not owned by a big corporation like Disney it is part of a foundation that focusses on theming and keeping the park authentic. That is why prices of entrance, food and merchandise are lower than Disney prices. Efteling is a family park and Carnaval Festival is more a children's ride. Efteling is the second most visited park in Europe. Disneyland Paris third most visited and Europapark the most visited park in Europe. I know one imagineer / Efteling designer now works for Disneyworld in the US and that imagineers of Disneyland Paris asked Efteling for help with what Europeans liked to see. Now you probably heard Dutch people say Walt Disney took inspiration from Efteling. There is video a Walt Disney visiting The Netherlands in 1951. 1951 is the year Efteling finished building the fairytale forest. It was big news in the Netherlands so they could have told Walt Disney about it since he also handled in fantasy characters. He did business a 30 minutes drive trom Efteling but no one knows for sure if he went to Efteling. I just finished watching different families from the UK visiting Efteling. They were raving about Efteling saying it had better operations than any UK park and that UK parks could learn a lot from Efteling. Now I have never been to UK parks so I am not one to juddge. I even heard that children from the UK went to Efteling as a school trip which surprised me. We did go to Efteling on school trips but we did not go to other countries to visit themeparks. One man from the UK even said children went to the US as school trip. Dont know if that is common in the UK to have such expensive school trips or that is was only at this man's school. Efteling is 2 day park and if you really want to relax a 3 day park. I would not go to Efteling in winter. I would go in spring or summer outside childrens holidays. It is a beautiful park in itself even without all the rides and attractions so I would rather go with spring or summer weather when all operations are optimal. I am interested to go to themeparks in the UK. Which parks are the best parks in the UK are good to go to ?

Fantastic comment and thank you for your detail! In the UK, although I'm not a huge fan of Merlin, Alton Towers and Thorpe Park are the highlights due to Nemesis and Hyperia. But, Paulton's Park really do smash it as all-rounders with wonderful staff. It's 100% the one to watch. It's also not owned by a massive company, which is obviously the better route (as Efteling is proof of!). Going in Winter is actually fine - the construction I never mind if a park is improving itself - it has to happen sometime. Also, it gives us UK peeps somewhere to go during the winter!

@@TheNextOutingThank you ! You are the first one to tell me which parks to go to in the UK so thanks. I heard people from the UK compare Oblivion with Baron 1898 very often. Dont even know what park Oblivion is in but the funniest reactions I saw when people can't decide which is better. One group said Oblivion was better with the drop but theming of Baron 1898 was better so they could not make up their mind. I did see someone from the UK say that there is a big UK based company that owns a lot of themeparks, bought things like Legoland and was even buying up themeparks in other countries so I agree with you that it is best a themepark is part of a foundation like Efteling and are like the one you mentioned. I forgot to tell that Efteling keeps closer to the original fairytes they dont really care if children are afraid of it because Dutch people tell these darker fairytales to their children. I have never seen people from the UK being shocked about the darker fairytales but Americans are. In America these fairytales are sugarcoated so when Americans come to Efteling and see and read the darker fairytales some think they are horrible. But they dont know the story with the 7 baby goats for example that are eaten by the wolf is a lesson in stranger danger. I saw one American family come out of Fata Morgana and tought it was not a good ride for children because of some creepy things in there. We as children loved it. The predecessor of Danse Macabre called Spookslot scared the hell out of us when we were kids but those are the things you remember as adult. Also my little niece and nephew always wanted me to read them the darker fairytales. I have seen Americans call Efteling the darker side of Disney which I kind of like but some Dutch people go completely mental when one calls it that. I now often use the term darker version of Disney when describing the park as some fairytales are really dark and strangely enough people become curious about Efteling. I saw you went on Danse Macabre. I dont know if you saw it but the famous symphonic metal band Epica was asked to redo the Danse Macabre song and make a creepy videoclip inside and outside the dark ride Danse Macabre. Back in the 70's Kate Bush was asked to sing and make a videoclip for the predecessor of Danse Macabre called Spookslot. Both videoclips are on KZbin. My sister also likes Europapark better than Efteling so she goes there every year with her family. Some even said Europapark is the best themepark in the world. At least it is the most visited in Europe. I have been to Disneyland in the US and tought it was rather small in size. Disneyworld has much larger budget for rides so it is probably the best park in the world. Unfortunately I have never been to Disneyworld. I have heard you can spent an entire week there to be able to see it all. One thing is for sure if Disney gets their hands on the new dynamic motion system of Danse Macabre I think they can do great things with it. Symbolica was the most expensive ride in the Benelux back in the day costing 35 million euros. Danse Macabre was estimated to cost 25 million but they went 10 million over budget so it matched the 35 million of Symbolica. I wonder if other regular themeparks will built something like Danse Macabre as it is quite expensive to build. Have fun on your next trip to Europapark as I am guessing you will visit again.

I'm literally heading back to Europa Park today/tomorrow but not vlogging this time (I covered the christmas event last year). There are some Europa Park vlogs coming up from Halloween when I went with my family for the first time (a very different feel vlog). Thank you for the additional info. Efteling do excel at this sort of thing. Disney do also make some terrifying dark rides for kids, Snow White isn't exactly not creepy haha.

@TheNextOuting. Going with family to a themepark is different then going by yourself. I enjoy the park more when I go with family and also take more time to enjoy the park. If I go to Efteling by myself I do it in one day with family 2 days. We have a guy here who goes to Efteling 165 days of the year he is really crazy about the park. For his birthday he got a 2 night stay in the Efteling hotel. Lol. Dont know if you have visited other themeparks in The Netherlands like Toverland and Walibi Holland but the ones I visited last with family you probably never heard of. They are called Duinrell and Drievliet these are smaller themeparks more suited for children. By the way I was watching a documentury about Efteling and it said Walt Disney went to amusement park Tivoli Gardens and 2 other parks. I checked and Tivoli Gardens is even older than Efteling. Tivoli Gardens opened in 1843 and is said to be the second oldest park in the world. Meaning there is another park that is even older than Tivoli Gardens. Both parks are in Copenhagen so Walt Disney did get inspiration from his trip to Europe. I will check out your Europapark vlog when it is online. Have fun !

Yes I've visited all the ones you've mentioned (Except Drievliet), with videos on the channel too! I really enjoy the Walibi parks both in the NL and Belgium. Tivoli Gardens is also a lovely place to visit (I visited pre-vlogging days). Thank you for commenting and I hope you can subscribe :)

The carousels are all situated in an area called the 'Anton Pieck square' (Anton Pieckplein). Anton Pieck is considered one of the founding fathers of Efteling, along with Peter Reijnders and Reinier van der Heijden. He was an early 20th-century Dutch artist, known for his romantic pictures. He played a huge part in designing some of the earliest dioramas in the fairytale forest, from the early 1950s until the late 1970s, and is singlehandedly responsible for the entire look and feel of the park. Without his influence, Efteling wouldn't have its nostalgic and whimsical atmosphere that it is so well known for. He was also a renowned carousel and traditional fairground lover. One of the carousels on the square is even named after him, the Anton Pieck carousel (Anton Pieckcarrousel). The indoor carousel is actually a traditional steamcarousel, built between 1895 and 1903 by the Janvier family. Anton Pieck cherished fond memories of riding this carousel as a child at the local fair in his home town Den Helder. Under his supervision it was purchased by Efteling and moved to the park in 1956. The building it is housed in was constructed afterwards and is known as the Carousel palace (Carrouselpaleis). The final carousel is another traditional carousel from 1865, making it the oldest operating carousel in the Netherlands. It was purchased and restored by Efteling in 1995 and after some final travels across different fairgrounds it was temporarily placed in the entrance area of the park where the hotel is being constructed now. It was moved to its current spot in 2000. The entire square is intended to mimmick the feeling of a nostalgic fairground in the spirit of Anton Pieck, to honor his legacy and contributions to the park and its signature style.

Loving the detail here - I knew there would be a bigger story to the area and the fact there were several carousels. Thank you! Thanks for watching and please subscribe if you can :)

Efteling is a bit in the build and rebuild mood in the winter. The winter isnt the most favorite season to visit the efteling. The problem has been efteling has had a few bad years due to covid and all. the hotel guests are getting the front parking spot that's the tunnel. And they are trying to build new rides and some rides need big refreshers like now dance macabre is done we gonna hopefully see a big works on the fata morgana. And yes the dutch delights is a bit meh even dutch efteling fans commented on that :D the winter event is slowly starting up atm and with halloween we had the opening of dance macabre and soo around new year there is a huge festivities. if the ride breaks down they tell people. Even in other languages. At the moment with the winter weather there are some rides closed that are a bit warm weather dependend like the water ride isnt open in the winter and the sparkles on symbolica is also for the winter festivities also the emblem is different in the winter its a snowflake in the summer i believe its just the default symbolica logo. THe fabel fish is just repaired the cut the roof open to take it out check it out and fix it. carnaval festival is bassicly a tour through the world and yeah its an ear wurm :P. They change carnaval festival after comentary same with monseur canibal. its now called sirocco its bassicly the same underframe but now themed to sinbad. and the kids maze that was next to it is called archipel and yes they did change piranha they removed all rocks due to dangerous rock croppings and they removed them all and add some extra water spewers and they minorly adjusted the ride. And baron does run on a chain and they can adjust the splash :D they just redid the water part seemingly the chain was either damaged or wrongly so they pumped down the lake and fixed stuff. As i said they have been hard at work to fix all the older rides to make them less problem prone. They even added new wood to joris and added slight parts with titan track.

Thank you for all the extra information. All great to know. Rides in the winter are absolutely fine as long as you dress right haha. Glad to see that even the rapids are open! Thanks for watching and please subscribe if you can :)

I don’t mind going during the winter. It’s a good one to do when all the other parks are closed around Europe!

why did you change the audio in droomvlucht; you made it so bad. Why do you come to the Efteling since you obviously dont enjoy it? 'its not that bad, not that pleasant 'thats a lie' why do they wait for.......what an enthousiasm. Again, please stay away, you're such a negative person

I had to edit some of the music due to copyright claims, which can be common on KZbin! Not everyone needs to love the park. I did really enjoy Danse Macabre, and overall had a better visit than my last visit in 2023. Parks should be able to be reviewed fairly, which is what I did. If everyone only said the positives then nothing would really improve. I look forward to many more visits in the future!
@WendyK-hu9qt22 күн бұрын
@@TheNextOuting of course not everybody has to like it, but its stupid that if you dont enjoy the park, that you visit it. you probably are someone for walibi holland. Then go there. And in general; you are seeing things from the negative perspective. Please be a more vibrant and positive person ;) your view on live isnt the parks issue ;)
