Wow Bill, I have a 1980 Pepsi Dixie that I restored and placed at a local motel. The customers love it. To me it was a labor of love to restore my machine. The old coin mech in my old Dixie would not take nickels at first. I unplugged it and blowout the connector that it plugs into. It has been working great ever since. Thank you so much for the video Bill. I think I will be getting a second vintage machine, restoring it and placing it at a business as customers are really liking the the old machine I currently have. I very much enjoy your channel. Thanks again.

Amazing video! I was superrr bummed that it didn’t cool. I really like your content and I will continue rambling about it making a short novel. I do learn lots from these videos. Great video Bill!! Would love to see this machine have a second life, I am sure parts are only going to be harder and harder to get over time though. A full restore would probably be best to stave off the rust from eating it alive.
@HappyVending3 жыл бұрын
Thanks. It would be neat if it got a full restore, but I doubt that would ever happen with its current owner. He is looking to retire and I don't think he is that interested in vending. And actually, I think it would be cool to have it working good on the inside, but looking real rough on the outside. Then people would be even more amazed that it actually works!

@@HappyVending You might consider asking him if he would like to sell it, you might be able to get it cheap, restore it and place it in a good location.
@HappyVending3 жыл бұрын
@@dennissmithjr.5370 I don't have that much time to invest in the machine. I am most comfortable with Royal GIII machines and Dixie 276e or 501e machines. Most of the parts are plentiful and they are very versatile with a variety of products. This machine would be better suited in a man cave where it would get light duty and not need lots of repairs from heavy use.

Compressor is shorted to ground if it kicks the breaker. I have one of these I need to get dropping cans. None of the vend buttons respond and a couple of motors aren’t running when triggered by the micro switches.

That was fun to watch. Thanks Bill! I felt your pain with those flavor tags being stuck. I'm fairly new to the vending industry and very green to troubleshooting the beverage machines. Any tips on troubleshooting machines that have ice forming on the inside? Thanks again!
@HappyVending3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Ice forming inside is often a sign of a bad door seal. Maybe you are not closing the door tight enough or the gasket is going bad. It could also be the compressor is low on refrigerant.

Yeah motors that are stationary do not make much torque and they draw more current to start. Hence the starter wired in to help the rotor inside the motor moving. I was sitting here thinking. Does he have something else on the circuit causing it to draw more than the usual 15A. There is a lot that could be wrong with the compressor. Loss of refrigerant and lubricant internally? Just guessing maybe something causing too much mechanical resistance turning the compressor or just a motor that went bad because of salt air or both. Rust cause a leak? I have training on AC for aircraft but never have used it much on larger aircraft. I gave a thought about designing my own system just don't know what I would use as a refrigerant. Refrigerant is constantly changing states and temperature. I think ammonia was experimented with long time ago. Not good for the eyes. Yikes. I believe it is technology connections on youtube has a video on why fans are labelled backwards with high setting starting first on the knob. Very good video. I did get my 501E and we got it running. Got everything filled and adjusted. Running a mix of 16.9oz bottles, 12oz cans and bottles, and 16oz cans. Just in the process of dialing in the thermostat. I am at 5 right now. Not sure the normal setting number. Part of me was probably just impatient after a hour and a half and wanted cold soda lol. Thanks for a good videos keep it up. I learn a lot.
@HappyVending3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comments. I think even if I could get the old compressor working, it would eventually leak the refrigerant because there is so much corrosion on it. The best bet is to find a replacement cooling deck.

Hi Bill, sorry to bother you but I have watched all your KZbin videos and have found them the most informative. I have a older Dixie narco (early 80s) that wasn’t working and from watching your videos, I was able to get it to vend but only when I insert my coin, ( I have it set to a nickel ) and it will automatically vend from my fifth column. Not letting me choose my selection. So I put my coin in and it automatically vends from the fifth. Any idea or things to try? I appreciate your help and your videos. And as always Happy Vending 🥫
@HappyVending3 жыл бұрын
Hi Mandy...it seems like either a vend switch or selection switch is bad on that fifth selection. With the power off, maybe you should try disconnecting that motor and/or selection switch, then plug it in and see if you can vend normally from the first 4 selections.
