As a tip , if you ever shoot another frame with the cap on, the advantage of this camera compared with the mamiya 7 i, is that you can do multiple exposures with the mamiya 7ii so to dont waste the frame if it hapens to you by accident again, use the multiple exposure button and shot on the same frame again ( because of the cap that frame was never exposed)

I embarked on my photography journey in the mid to late 70s when film was the sole option available. With each passing day, I find increasing personal satisfaction in capturing moments. I never grow bored or experience dry spells. The process of creating and crafting behind the lens exhilarates me. Despite the immense personal satisfaction I derive from photography, I would sooner give up the art than shoot with film. Surprisingly, the tool that revolutionized my approach is not a traditional camera, but the iPhone 14 Pro Max. My Sony A1 camera and collection of GM lenses now sit idle, allowing me to create without the burden of excessive gear. I love photography.😎 🤙

Very cool to see you leaning into film Pete! I totally agree what you said about the amount of shots per roll on 120 vs 35mm. The Mamiya is great. 10 frames feels so much more focused than 35. You've really got to think about compositions not just compared to themselves, but other possible compositions. It's a resource management game. I feel like half frame cameras like the Olympus are perfect doc cameras, 120 is perfect for intentional work, and 35 just kind of does neither comfortably. After this purchase you are ready for Jason's (grainy days). 😂

Thank you so much for your contents Peter. After years of digital I've started againg shooting again in analog too. I needed to think more calmly and pay more attention to the composition. I fully agree with you that medium format is the best choice in a process of photographic reflection. Precisely for this reason I decided to combine my Canon mirrorless bodies with Hasselblad and Pentax 6x7. I also find that black and white 120 films give a grain and a sense of magical atmosphere that cannot be reproduced in any way with digital. Thanks again for your amazing work! Alessandro

I worked for Agfa in the late 90s, early 2000s. I was there before and after the photography industry moved to digital. It was a difficult transition at first - the quality of digital was not even close to film in the beginning and I refused to switch until an acceptable threshold of quality was met. We are there now! The issue I have with film was, and has always been the ecological impact. I’ve spent a ton of time in the darkroom wondering where the D76 developer ended up after I was done with it. I toured the Agfa film manufacturing facilities in Antwerp, Belgium and I can say that film production is an ecologically unsound process. Regardless, I do see the romantic part of film - but I choose to replicate that look in post today. I suppose that the ecological impact of computers and the tech surrounding chip manufacturing is also not great either? I’d love to see a side-by-side comparison from camera to processing (digital vs film) and which one is better for the planet.
