It’s like calling all UTV’s razors just for simplicity. Crown Vics/Grand Marquis and Town Cars are basically the same vehicle, with the Town Car having some upgraded suspension and of course a slightly different body. Otherwise though the drivetrain, chassis, frame, components are all very similar.

And that's why I drive old Land Cruisers. They'll get you anywhere you want to go, they just won't do it quickly. As long as you stay off private property and you keep all of the lights working, you're pretty much immune from getting a ticket.

I know Paul likes to call his "new" ride a Crown Vic, and for the most part it shares most everything with it's "poorer" cousin, but the reason it has the leather seats is because it is actually the "higher end" Lincoln Town Car. I'm sure it has a lot of other updated features as well. Personally, I'd prefer the Town Car over the Crown Vic any day of the week unless it was a low mileage (unicorn) Police Interceptor!

First car I ever drove was almost that exact car. 1996 Lincoln Town Car. My dad ordered it with the dual exhaust package so it had the same horsepower as the pursuit Crown Vics. I miss the old American giant land yachts.

Lucky you all had your seatbelts on. That would have been another ticket. In some states the driver get the seatbelt ticket if everyone don't have their seat belts on. Then in other states each person get their own ticket for no seat belt. Here in Minnesota, the driver is responsible for everyone in the car. So the driver get the ticket. I know, I got two of them.

i think this is a great idea! Ive towed plenty with a Grand Marquis, and it does great. It pulls like a half-ton truck, and that's plenty for the yellow submarine. I don't think it would be a bad idea to drive back either. Maybe have a support vehicle for when the project car gives you grief on the return trip. I'm super excited to see how it all turns out!

You had to test the Crown-Vic to see if it gets tickets--now that door is open, they'll keep coming in!! I know that car has cruise control--should've used it! Which is worse: getting a ticket with Shawn and Hunter in the car or Merlin and Chad. My vote is worse with Merlin and Chad. Merlin might get them hauled off jail! Paul and Merlin together crossing many state lines...they may never make it home!! Great video.

It’s just like folks calling all UTV’s “Razors” for simplicity. The Crown Vic, Grand Marquis, and the Town Car are the same basic car, same drivetrain, chassis, components exc. The Lincoln is just Fords more premium line.

That Ford 4.6L tows well. In 1999 I towed my 1989 Honda Accord from Las Vegas to Oklahoma, with my 1995 Ford Thunderbird. I-haul installed hitch and two wheel car dolly. Got 24 MPG towing. Got lots of funny looks. Only drawback was the brakes were underpowered for that setup.
