I was hiking a slot canyon with a group of friends in Southern Utah when the little stream running down the middle doubled in size, then doubled again. As we were double timing it out of there, we passed several groups hiking in. I tried warning them, but nobody listened. I'm sure I sounded like a crazy person because I was freaking out, but it still surprised me how ignorant they were about the danger, and how unwilling they were to listen to the warning of a local. Fortunately, the water subsided so nobody died.

A friend of mine taught me a valuable lesson. He bought a brand new Dirt Bike helmet, unboxed it, wiped it down, and took a photo of it all new, clean and shiny. He then threw it across the driveway onto the gravel. It's better to get the first scratch over with and then you don't have to worry about when it will happen.

Great work all. Robby's face tells all. Wet sand is the only thing I ever got stuck in. No one to call, no cell phones back then. We used CB radio to call an old-timer hermit who had a landline. But couldn't get through to him. So, on my own. I found a log, put it near the rear, used the high-lift and pushed it off the jack sideways 20 times to spin the bronco onto higher ground and went home. 4 hours work. Don't know where I learned the spare tire trick but used it many times. I started carrying a 13-inch wheel with no tire to save space for the uplift. The high-lift pushing it off sideways will get almost anything out of anything.

They have been using a similar tire inflation system on log trucks up here in the Pacific Northwest for years, in fact the Weyerhaeuser co, requires it on some of their haul roads in some areas to haul for them. There are pros and cons to it on trucks. It’s actually easier on the roads plus the traction advantage but there is some higher maintenance costs and on duals you don’t get one flat you get two.
