Hilarious conversation on proper attire and equipment to me. I grew up with opposing points of view in both parents. Mother demanded proper attire/tools, and last year my dad used a Dollar store steak knife to trim a maple vine in his hawaiian shirt. 😝

I first heard about Hoselink from you and Aaron. I talked to my husband about purchasing one as we are growing older and dragging that hose around was the most difficult thing to do. He rolled his eyes! We purchased one last year and both agree that it is the best investment we've made. We are planning to order another one in the spring. Thank you Hoselink for manufacturing a quality product that has made such a significant difference in our gardening lives!

I spent a month on crutches over the summer, had shockwave treatments and now have to use inserts due to heel spur pain and plantar fasciitis! I missed a lot of the gardening and yard work that I love bc of it! Moral of the story.. take care of your feet and don’t wait until you are crippled to get them looked at 🙃!

I have plantar fasciitis too, from walking upwards of 21,000 steps/shift at work. If Laura sees this, she needs to make sure she addresses her heal pain asap, because if it’s PF, it can be debilitating. I’m in a FB group for it and found stretching exercises that made a world of difference. Also, wearing supportive shoes for my high arches (Vionics, Algeria- lots of people wear Hoka shoes but I don’t have experience with them). It’s been 2 years and I’m finally better, but know it’s still there and could come back if I don’t take good care of my feet and calf.

This summer I had heel pain in the foot that doesn't have an arch. I started wearing my Birkenstock softbed slide sandals everywhere including in the house as those were the only shoes that didn't cause pain. I then ordered a marked down pair just for wearing in the house. No more heel pain and I can now wear other shoes! I should have been wearing good arched shoes in the house years ago.

@@BS-j1965 Most seeds don't need to be sown very deep so I imagine you could scratch down just a little bit in the soil. Either that or maybe set the seed on top of the soil and cover with a bit of potting soil? My issue is that my garden is covered in about 2 feet of snow all winter, otherwise I'd give this a try. Maybe next fall before we get a bunch of snow I'll try.

I've had ducks for 3 years for my food forest. They free range and they help so much with slugs and other bugs. When I put in seedlings I have to protect them until they are mature. We love our ducks. Cayuga ducks are considered quite for a duck and they don't fly. We have two small concrete ponds for them and we use the water as compost tea. One pond is set up with an irrigation system.

I have 3 kids ( adults now) all born on the same day, but different years. It was easy when they were young because we just had birthday parties with each set of grandparents. It got tricky when they got into school but now as grown ups we just plan one birthday meal for them. My daughter lives across the state so she and her family come back so everyone can celebrate together. My husband's and my birthdays are only 3 days apart so we use to have 2 birthday celebrations a year and be done. My birthday is on Valentine's Day so until I was about 40 my mom made me a heart shaped Cherry Chip birthday cake with cherry frosting....still my all time favorite 💕

We usually gave them clothes and lower key gifts for their birthday but they chose the supper menu and had friends over and we planned fun activities to do on their birthdays. When the school year was over in June they got "passing presents" which they had so much fun participating in picking out. It spread the gift giving out and incorporated the winter then summer seasons. 🤣good for the budget too.

Heel pain may be plantar fasciitis. I'm a runner and that's where it presents for me, which is a classic symptom. It may not have been bad Vans, but rather wearing the same type of shoe/sole repeatedly. Swapping to different sole types helps. I also find wearing a low heeled shoe intermittently can help. Also try warming up your feet before you get out of bed. When your angry fascia is suddenly stretched when getting out of bed and putting your weight on it, it can become worse. Those are my best nuggets of advice! - Kati, Levi's wife ;)

I do have a good amount of slags and snails in my garden... But a natural way, I deal with it, is, that I try to attract hedgehogs! If you are lucky enough to have these cute little critters around, then they will actually eat slugs and snails! So I have a little pond, that is accessible for small animals. I also made sure, that if an animal where to fall in the water, there is ways to easily get out of the water again!! That is important to remember! And I have hedges and bushes, for hidingplaces. I actually also keep a few "messy" and undisturbed, quiet corners in my garden, all for the hedgehogs to have safe spaces.

I completely agree about the birthdays! I am 39 yr old and my childhood birthdays always felt magical because I ate whatever was my favorite food and picked the cake- and it was always celebrated at home! I have continued that with my toddlers- 6,4,and 2. First birthday was a big one and the rest are just immediate family, favorite food and cake. I honestly do not know why or how people always make such big displays. Besides setting the standard, how can you spend that much money each year, especially for multiple children! Put it away for them for the future instead. Thanks for another great recap.

Good morning! Just have to share my funny but awesome Hoselink story with you… I had told my husband late last summer that all I wanted for Christmas was a Hoselink, he agreed and I waited till closer to Christmas to order. Unbeknownst to me my daughter who also loves to garden knew that I wanted one for Christmas snd ordered one for me… wait the story gets more interesting.. my son in law knew how much my daughter wanted one also so he ordered one for her for Christmas! Wait there is more to this story 😂😂 ! So a couple weeks before Christmas I got on their website and placed my order for mine and thought well Jessica would really like one of these to! So with the bulk pricing Hoselink offered I ordered her one also…a few days later I was talking to my son in law and told him I had ordered the Hoselink for Jessica and there was a long drawn out silence on the phone…he was like Oh you didn’t?!!! So long story short we each ended up with 2 Hoselink and we couldn’t be more excited for spring to get here to use them!

I don't normally comment, but watching these videos really is such a inspiration. Not just in gardening, but in life. Sharing tidbits of your family life just make me realise what we should all aspire to have. And aspire to be. The way you speak about your team, acknowledge and show gratefulness is something I feel so rare these days. Thank you for being you, and sharing as you do.

I agree with the others - please do not rush through the videos. I am learning how to pick up on the details of a landscape through you and not just take in the whole picture and stop. You have helped me learn to look into it for things I may be able to replicate even if the bug picture is not something I could do.

I did a big birthday for my 5 kids four times in their growing up years: 6,9, 12, 16. I think they felt the love, and honestly I don’t know how parents do a friend birthday party every year. This is as much as I could handle. Love you guys for so many reasons! Keep up the great work!

Winter sowing tip for slug prone areas: fan out a pleated coffee filter to cover inside the bottom of the jug before adding soil. Really helps keep slugs from coming in the bottom drainage holes. It’s not a perfect fit but very effective. Keep soil loss to a minimum also. 🌟

Set up a sprinkler that shoots up like a rainfall so that the kids can run around and you dont need to water plants around it 😂 I remember my childhood, my dad plant around this small garden nook he created in our townhouse and i would bring the hose to ‘play in the rain’ while water the plants

Love my Sunday routine. Wake up and relax w breakfast in my plant room while watching GA weekly recap. I am a lucky girl! Also, it's called getting old Laura (feet problem lol) j/k! I am 45 and can't even wear regular shoes without inserts. Some of the brands I like are help my feet are Vionics and Chocos. They are expensive but worth it because if you don't take care if your feet then your back will start giving you issues. Then your legs and then your neck and.....basically you just start falling apart lol. Good luck! Keep everything you do the way you do it. That's why you're the most watched gardening channel on YT!

Hosta and deer: in my MA gardens I've found that deer will eat the variegated forms before the solid green/blue versions. Eventually all will be eaten. I will protect hostas by inserting twigs into the mound in a criss-cross starburst pattern which does keep the majority of the plant protected.

I’m throwing a 1st birthday party for my grandson. I rented a hall and decorating it with 4 backdrops. It will take me 8 hours to decorate this hall. One backdrop behind him, one behind the cake/dessert table, one behind the drink table, and the entryway will be decorated. He will have a special backdrop behind him with a map of the world, balloons, vintage suitcases, vintage airplanes, and a teepee. Tables will have real table clothes, custom centerpieces that I made, and place settings and napkins folded as trees. The theme is “Adventure Awaits” that features vintage airplanes, vintage trucks, and woodland theme (fishing/camping). We are having catered food, his own special cake, cookies, cupcakes, and ice cream. I own a Wedding and Party rental business and coordinate parties large and small. I absolutely love to plan and decorate for weddings and parties. In 2022, I did 65 events with the largest one being a 1000 guest. My grandsons birthday will have 48 guest which is tiny event for me. Yes, I’ll do this for every grandchild.

Could we see a garden organization/processing of tools video from use to cleaning to all you do to maintain your supplies? As well as others submissions in a pt. 2? All things OCD organization is my joy!! I just have not found the right flow for organization of pots, tools, supplies(fert, soils, insect, sprayers, water) it always ends in a dirty pile in outside or in our spare garage bay (that then gets onto my Expedition, keeping it pristine is another joy). I so admire you, the channel, your beautiful gardens and little ones are adorable in all aspects! Blessings from 7b NE GA ❤
