The “aura “ in the glass paperweight is called dichroic. It is a surface coating added to glass that can then be incorporated into flame or furnace worked pieces.

Careful when saying Lucite. All Lucite is acrylic but not all acrylic is Lucite. Lucite is a trade name and has a slightly different chemical compound than acrylics c. It's always beautifully made and finished and is heavier than generic acrylic. A true Lucite collector will want a refund if you send them acrylic so please, be careful in your descriptions.

I did not know that! Great info, kind of like “Kleenex” or facial tissue.
@beckyc.5743 Жыл бұрын
I don’t know how you would be able to tell or prove the difference since it was trademarked by DuPont. In other words, I’ve never seen a “genuine lucite” sticker so if there’s a way to distinguish the two outside a chemistry lab I’d like to hear about it.
@charlottemccaig578 Жыл бұрын
@@beckyc.5743 Mainly it's quality. Lucite is very high quality, looks like fine glass, very clear, very heavy for acrylic. It was more expensive to produce so chances are you are not going to find a trivet with dried flowers in it, those are simply acrylic. There were not tons of things like shakers, kitchen things, etc made from Lucite. I've seen some beautiful candle stick sets, desk sets like pen holders, business card holders, paperweights from Lucite in addition to lamps, bookends, and trophy/award pieces. There are gorgeous Lucite chess sets out there and I saw a picture of a Lucite backgammon set but never in the flesh. Once you see and feel Lucite you'll know the difference. Sort of like the difference between Bakelite and plastic, you know when you feel it.

You are correct about unglazed Raku. If you insist on putting flowers in it, do dried. Artificial "silks" have a cheapening effect on the vase.

Nice score, should be numbered as well, nice $200-$300 weight, i have her Blue enameled flower egg, too beautiful to sell for a couple hundred imo.
