I don't take drugs or alcohol but I am glad that marijuana is basically legal now. If de Kooning, and Pollack had smoked it rather than drink liquor, they may have lived longer. Nothing before it's time

This smarmy dealer guy knows the painting is third rate. I’m a de Kooning fan, but his stuff from the 80s isn’t very good, IMO. His design sense, and visceral energy, and especially his confident line, are mostly gone. Note that by then he had dementia, so it’s natural that his creative capabilities would take a hit.

Bullshit...here is a salesman trying to explain why the Emperor has no clothes. I've been painting all my life and actually buy and sell de Koonings works for clients worldwide..this painting is poorly designed bland in color and average at best..His earlier works are his best and the most sought out..This painting will sell, I'm sure, but only to someone that has all their taste in their mouth.

Yes I agree this pc and ALOT of this late work is sad and “ unfinished” looking, I read a bio on De Kooning that said that the amount of work that De kooning did on each pc and the amount of “help” his assistants gave him to help remind him of his talent varied greatly from pc to pc depending how clear de koonings mind was day to day, the author even hinted that de kooning may not have done any work on some of the late paintings at all…you do the rest, are these late pc’s “ great late work of a master or “ unfinished” cash grabs from a fading genius…
