Her fucking sassy glare at the end. She knows she is queen of musical theatre. Honestly one of my role models

She doesn't screw it up once! Best Elphaba ever.

Her breath control is off the scale. It's hardly audible in all languages - she is amazing.

The Dutch and German version titles of Defying Gravity are respectively "I Laugh At Gravity" and "Free and Weightless". So they are not literally translations of the English original but they are re-interpreted to capture the soul of the song in Dutch and German. Actually it's not really a surprise Willemijn could do this so well, since English, Dutch and German are sister Germanic languages.

isn't defying sort of the same as 'laughing in the face off' as in 'hahaha just watch me do the thing'
@Overwijn01 Жыл бұрын
The literal translation of I’m defying grafity in Dutch is “ik tart de zwaartekracht”, which does not sound very good… 😅
@AlbertWeijersАй бұрын
@@Overwijn01 Die Nederlandse vertaling vind ik echt heel goed, soms zelfs beter. "Twee bevrijde meiden" is en het Engels iets als "in tandem", wat minder is. Nederlands komt trouwens toch weer meer binnen.

If she wants it, they should just give her the role. There needs to be some perk of being the longest-running Elphaba and the originator of the role in two languages.

The benefit of knowing all these languages is if you feel better singing a certain vowel sound (or even a certain word) at certain parts of the song, you can alternate the languages to get the best sound! To me, it would be a lot easier sustaining "ein" instead of "down."
