Why narrow homes? Back in the sixteenth century, Dutch authorities levied taxes from citizens based - among other things - on the width of their houses. The results were predictable.

Very nice!! I visited the ABC islands just before the pandemic broke out via cruise ship 🚢 ….. I walked the same path you did but opposite as I started in the cruise terminal…. the hidden beach 🏖 was awesome and we had it to ourselves!! You mentioned how expensive the island 🏝 is but it’s actually the cheapest out of the 3 ….. I would love to return one day and spend more time exploring!! Thx for jogging up some memories!!!!!

Loved this video! We've been to Curacao twice in the past. We were watching closely to see what great place you found to eat, but it turned out to be a place we had been to. We really like that you display the prices you find at restaurants and elsewhere. We will be back in Willemstad next February.

Incredible! Such colours!! Back in the old days, you paid tax based on your 'street-front footage'. So the more narrow, the less tax. Skinny and tall was the way to go! It is why Amsterdam's architecture is the same, but also Saigon due to the French influence/architecture. Beautiful work you two - spectacular. Grant in Australia

Nice video guys. It gives a good image of how it is there. I have been a few times in Curacao because a friend of mine went to live there and i visited him. If you guys want to do a nice snorkle ask for a place they call Tugboat. There is like a shipwreck of a small boat and it is only about 5 meters deep there and it is very close to shore (50 meters) . Perfect for a good time underwater. It was the first real dive that i did when i had my PADI with a friend. We rented scuba equipment, we drove to the beach, put on or scuba suit and just walked on the beach and into the water. The most relax dive i ever did haha. I also remember there was a place somewhere where small boats from Venezuela arrived that sold fruit. Have fun and keep Jumping ;)

I stayed just down the street from the Scuba Lodge and would walk by it several times a day. I completely forgot that was a hotel until I saw this. Nice to see it's still around. The neighborhood doesn't seem to have changed much, aside for the manmade beach, which was only being started when I was there. They had a picture of what it will look like when it's finished. I recognized a lot of the places in this video. Unfortunately during my visit the fort and yellow building were being remodeled. That's cool that as Portuguese speakers you can understand Papiamentu. If I'm not mistaken "Curaçao" is also Portuguese and means "heart". Looks like you missed some key sites though. If you ever go back you should visit Berg Altena, the Synagogue, Kura Hulanda Museum, Hato Caves/Indian Trail, Fort Beekenburg, Landhuis Kenepa, Cristoffel National Park and Playa Lagun.

Not been to Curacao but have visited Aruba three times, there appear to be similarities between them. I would definitely return, but as you mentioned they are more expensive compared to other Caribbean Islands. Don't know if it is the same there but in Aruba they used to put the prices up in the Capital when cruise ships visited.

Great caribbean island and I've been there many times! Do check out the natural beaches where you can snorkel and see beautiful fishes north of Willemstad (Blue Bay, Cas Abao, Porto Marie, Kleine Knip and Grote Knip) all the way to Westpunt. The other side of Curacao is rougher but beautiful as well. Over there check out the Shete Boka (water blowing through the rock formations). If you're interested in culture, do check out the Savonet house and from there you can walk up the Christoffel mountain on a clear day beautiful view all the way to Venezuela. And Kunuku House is very interesting as well. Don't forget Spaanse Water just south of Willemstad (go SUP boarding there). If you like to party, Mambo beach is the place ;) And for a tropical paradise island experience, go to Klein Curacao island.

I’d like to also point out a little known fact about fort Amsterdam: If you pause the video at 8:27 you can see a connon ball stuck in the wall near the top left of the building, between the two white stripes. Willemstad also have a few very good museums that one shouldn't miss, like the Maritime History Museum and the Kura Hulanda Museum. Also the best murals will be found in Otrobanda, but nice ones are also seen in both Pietermaai and Punda. Some snorkling with dolphins is also possible at the Sea Aquaruim in Willemstad. That is definitely one beautiful place you are staying. It is again different to the normal videos I see of coastal travels. I guess I got so use to the Asian nations and India that to me seemed to be the busiest place to me. It has a very European feel to it for sure. I was shocked you went to this island or any others you might go, they are so ridiculous in prices for everything. These are more like rich people places to go visit. It is a shock, because this is the first time I have had a negative on travel. I always love your videos as you very well know and this one is no different in my eyes. I just have never been interested in places the rich go, when I would rather go camping far into the mountains roughing it than have a house on wheels type of guy. I just hope Carol and you Chris are having a great time and that is what matters here, am I not right. love you both and be cool and peace my friends.
