Teak Deck Removal Gone Wrong - Yacht Hauled Out

The simple teak deck removal turned ugly once we got the teak off on this 54ft Viking Princess. Underneath the teak were holes and rotten flooring which made this job much bigger than ever anticipated! We had to cut a hole in the deck and repair a water logged mess.

Green prestone antifreeeze will stop dry rot. Spray it on till the wood wont take any more. When dry, fiberglass will still bond to the wood.

@@WillFixThat Old shipwright told me about that years ago. I always soak wood fence posts before setting in concrete. The treated posts last 10 years longer than non treated.

That travel lift is looking sort of thin in a spot or two, not sure I would be trusting it to it's rated weight. Good work on stripping down that deck.

When I was in boces for marine maintenance, I had to replace the floor and beams on a cobia. I put that back together better than factory. All rot

Screw holes are killers. You think you can seal them. Condensation just kills you.
