Late at night, when your body is tired but you can't sleep, put on your shoes and go find a usually busy spot. Sit down and observe it while it's silent - this is that feeling.

You have quintessentially captured the essence of a normally busy spot during the few nightly hours that silence prevails; so brilliant of your great mind to envision what that must be like, Bradley Huffstetler. Thank you for connecting to my likeminded sentiments.

I find it almost unbearable, especially with this video. As if a heavily concentrated dose of pure, unaltered melancholy was injected into my heart. All poetry ever written shouted out in a single, unintelligible, primal word.

This music reminds me of an apartment a friend and I rented in Berlin, Germany a few years ago. We spent two months there, and our bed was right against the window on the 12th floor of the building. The view was breathtaking. I spent so many hours watching the days unfold: light changes, the sun going up and down, clouds moving, city lights and the Fernsehturm… On the last day my friend had left, I remember sitting in our bed and staring at the view one last time. It was such a powerful moment. I am grateful this kind of music is here to remind me of it.

Sounds exactly like the whole of last year when I moved to the 7th floor in a flat on Edgware Road in London. I could see the BT Tower in the background and The Shard a bit further away. And many times I'd just leave my phone by the big window to produce a timelapse of the day with the camera. Quite a few times I got to catch rainbows and even double rainbows. All while this piece of William Basinski played in the background.

I kept this on loop while preparing for an important exam. The day I passed it, the father of my girlfriend died. Five years later, I keep coming back to this song as a completely different man, with that very same girl still at my side. Ultimately, what is life, if not an eternal loop? A longing for the past while moving forward?

May 2023 magical trip to Mexico, flew in and out of Guadalajara , driving to the city I saw a vista and was like “holy shit that looks like the video” , got to my hotel and looked out my window to see this view. I heard DLP 1 first. A friend insisted that I listen to it and when she played it for me I couldn't believe it. The range of emotions and feeling within that one piece of music floored me. But when I finally heard this piece (DLP 6) I was absolutely transported. It took me back to a feeling that I'd had all my life, or at least as long as I can remember. It was simultaneously tranquil and reassuring, but also filled with melancholy and a tired wisdom. It is the feeling of life right here in a single song. It is so special to me and a real treat when I sit down to listen to it. It feels so personal, but it's really great to see that so many people share an appreciation for it. I love this vid, and come back to it now and again. Thanks for sharing.

The disintegration loops never gets old. I've listened to this Basinski piece for years. As humans we age, keep moving along in life and people come and go in life. Then something like this piece comes along and stays with you forever. When you are alone and put this going on a good pair of headphones and sit back and think about everyone/everything that has come and gone in life...it's hard to explain the feelings and thoughts I have. Not bad ones, just a unique feeling/state of mind comes around. Also, what city is this in this video...

I always liked to look to the distance, it makes me so calm and relaxed. I keep imagining what is going on there, what are these lights, the story of the life of the people that live there, how it looks so peaceful and beautiful, the external world, and its problems seem to fade away for some time, it is a feeling I can't find words to describe, it is so astonishing. This video makes me travel in time, in space, in emotion, distant dreams and memories, there's no word for the feeling I get from this, this is pure magic.

This music is transcendent. I don't use the term lightly. I've been listening to experimental electronic music for over 50 years, and Basinski's Loops have touched areas that I have previously been unaware of. I can't think of equivalents - early Popul Vuh maybe, but that's inadequate. This is new territory, mainly because it taps into emotions, rather than ideas.

Many comments on this video try to apply the profundity of this work to their personal lives. While I think that's admirable, there's an irony to the lack of their awareness, which ignores what I think the real meaning behind this piece. Nobody actually cares about what your life is like, ultimately. I suppose it means something personally, but at the same time human life is so fleeting that the opinions and values we hold don't seem to matter as much as we'd like them to. But what these people do seem to get right is the feeling of being an observer. That's all we can really be successful at in this life. Be an outsider, witness, and servant to everyone and everything else around you, even yourself.

The feeling present in these comments is what the world needs. Peace, insight, awareness, compassion. We can apply these things in our everyday lives; if we practise these qualities within ourselves, they will be practised and present in the world. And from there, the world will hold just a little more peace, a little more insight, a little more awareness, a little more compassion. And that, I think, is exactly what the world needs. We have the power to create so much.

When you listen to something long enough, you start catching melodies that aren't there....it's absolute ecstacy.. All my years listening to People Like Us and Ekkhard Ehlers had trained me for Basinski.

It's Christmas night 7 PM EDT 2017 and I wish the whole planet could hear this at the same time. Perhaps many would pay attention to this ... instead of constantly going somewhere- but nowhere. Listen within ... and give the other 4 senses a rest🙏♥️💐

Returning to a favorite after my evening just got absolutely soured by a guy I met on a street corner in Ota, Japan. I agreed to get food with him later, worked my schedule around him, and then he tried to convert me to Buddhism and as he pulled out the pamphlet some of his other lies fell into place Totally a different time than last night which was a beautiful evening, but that's life.

Tivoli, NY 2020 April, I sat shirtless upright in bed with all the windows open. The spring afternoon fading slowly into dusk. Dlp 6 playing in the background of my computer while I wrote my last final. When I finished writing, my bedroom was dark, no longer illuminated by the afternoon sun, but instead by the glow of my computer. I can still remember the feeling of cool summer air floating in through the open window kissing my chest.

dangermoose2000 Lyrical can meansimply that a piece of art xpresses the writer's emotions in a beautiful way. It doesn't need to have kyrics, something that obviously Basinski's piece doesn't have.
