Putting my one year old to sleep. Knowing he will never remember this and in time neither will I. And the moment of bittersweet joy and calmnes when he finally unwillingly falls asleep and everything becomes quiet. At that moment feeling relief that both me and him get our important rest but also instantly in that moment missing my sons happy laughter and infectious curiousity to life. But we do this every night. Everytime he is just a little bit older and so am I. Knowing he one day wont be mine anymore and that he one day will grow up and become his own. My body has already begun its breakdown. Its still many years left but it has begun. This is my mission. This is my disintegration loop.

That was so powerful, well written and beautiful. Thank you. I too have a small child and I too have used this music to put him to sleep, and it was such a beautiful feeling to see that the music that I love helped him calm down and sleep. That last line made me cry on the spot and I want you to know you made my day so much better.

I just got home from a horrible party, it's midnight and I started to play this song. Popped up a beer, smoking a cig, the night feels eternal. The hot summer wind blowing in my face at the balcony, this night never ends. Such good vibes, I hope I'm gonna be stuck in this moment forever.

Nothing like smoking a cig with a beer alone listening to your own music after getting away from a gathering.

Hi, i am a Brazilian independent artist. I composed, mixed and made the cover of this album over a year, thinking about the sleep experience and the layers of consciousness. It is a 28 minute album with two songs. I wanna be heard by people who connect with ambient music. Basinski introduce me to it. (I am discovering ways to spread my art and my work.) This is very special. It means a lot to me. Enjoy. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iqGVgWiJYtmrjKs

Midnight Mass,..Christmas eve 1981 during a violent Lightning Storm in Eugene, Oregon,..St Mary’s Church 13th & Pearl. I was 6 years old, holding my mothers hand & my sisters hand. Sheet Lightning Flashed into the Church hall through the massive lead framed stained glass windows above. The pastoral scenes of Saint Francis, Saint Anthony, Saint Peter, their faces came alive, I watched their eyes meeting mine, the cloth of their clothes shimmering smooth, worn, beautiful. Each flash seemed to linger longer than the last. I was in communication with these Saints through the Lightning discharging from an Electrical Storm in the Heavens above…. This is an old memory, my Disintegration Loop.

Found out about William Basinski during quarantine at the time I was stuck in my life. No goals or ambitions just going through tough times. These records helped me start writing down short and long term plans. Its almost been a year since and i'm halfway through my goals enjoying life and looking forward to each day. I don't know what the future holds but i'm loving the present.

Despite having listened to this for probably hundreds of hours over the years, I only _just_ recently noticed that high whistling melody above the orchestral loop. Now I get to enjoy it in a whole new way for years to come. I'm seeing him live in London in a few weeks time and I can't wait!

This is my favorite video on youtube. I grew up on the water and there's something calming about it. The music is obviously gorgeous, but the framing of the shot. I especially love the light that comes on around 29:30 for 30 seconds before fading away. Seems charged with meaning.

[Self note] Discovered and listened to this music, days before moving. I previously lived alone in a single apartment, this was during covid-19 in 2020 (Many flatmates left and thus I was the only one), i never really felt alone, on the contrary I enjoyed the silent and peaceful nights. However the days would soon be numbered because the apartment would be renovated and everyone would be asked to leave. I knew that the new accommodation would definitely lack the serenity that I had enjoyed for almost a year. Looking back, I believe this music was a cope of mine, or perhaps a way for me to grieve the loss of that serenity in my old lodging. This music brings me a feeling of an end of an era, and reminiscing those that are lost.

I own this but I still come here to listen, because the videos you put behind the music really capture the idea behind it. The glow of the town casts deeper and deeper as the sun sinks further down. But the loop stays the same throughout. I dunno, I just really like the effect it has on my head.

The Apostle (ἀπόστολος) II A tired tinkling in a keyhole She rolled over as carefully as she could An apostle comes in triumphant from some coastal war zone His work is uncertain The father, my God! Other children, one a cripple… Teacher of the Law, of water The thirst obviously felt She flooded into his arms then Her milk drawn thin Sobbing against her narrow side, he drifted away… Blinking like a sea beacon We now leave this description of our lost Southern friends [Rodney Ian Hatch 20 September 2014]
