bloodbought 116 Thanks, so in Hebrews 7:27, 10:11-12&18, we're taught that Jesus is the final sin offering, and Romans 6:10 says that he died to sin once and for all. But in Ezekiel 45 (a prophecy which has yet to be fulfilled) we're told in verse 22 that the prince is to provide a bull as a sin offering for himself and for all the people of the land. Is Jesus the prince? If so, why would he need to provide a sin offering on behalf of his sinless self? Also, why would any sin offering need to take place if Jesus' death on the cross was the final sin offering?
@holylandfan32755 жыл бұрын
@Chad Ellis The high priest was the only one that could enter the temple room of the Holy of Holies. He entered and pulled the veil behind him. This room was considered the closest to God in the temple and only the high priest could enter. He was to offer the bullock, without spot or blemish. Other people offered various other animals, depending, on basically, a position. Jesus, the Prince, The High Priest, offered Himself without spot or blemish. His own blood to God. That's the reason when Jesus died on cross, the veil was ripped in the temple. Jesus is now our only way to God, The Father, and the ultimate sacrifice To God.

You originally stated that Ben, as a Jew, is doing a "disservice to the Jewish community by not challenging Christian claims such as..." Since Ben is the one doing the questioning, from his perspective, there's no real reason to question the virgin birth, since Ben believes in a God with the exact same powers as the Christian God. Lastly, Craig is making arguments for the existence of the God of the Bible (as well as Jesus, of course). If you conclude that his arguments here are correct and that the God of the Bible does indeed exist and that Jesus did indeed come to earth as both fully God and fully man, there's no need to prove virgin birth, how those "mystical powers" led to miracles, and how resurrection would've occurred from a biological perspective (Craig already gives historical evidence for the resurrection of Jesus).

36:05 -37:10 was so brilliant. Craig : “I doubt this man’s tomb was empty!” Haha Craig always has the best way of dominating. So gentle but so witty. Ben was completely unable to answer it and dismisses that and any of there arguments for the historical Jesus. That being said, I truly respect Ben for having Craig on who disagrees with him and is very competent in defending Christ. Ben is extremely uncomfortable discussing Christ because he is very satisfied with the common ground he has with Christians. I believe it would be so difficult for him to actually consider these arguments given his entire family life and culture he was raised in. I applaud him for having the conversation and hope one day he will consider the historical arguments for Jesus. Craig is certainly the best person to plant the seed. Great conversation.
@onetwothree41485 жыл бұрын
I laughed at that too. If the Indian guru's tomb was excavated today, and reported to be empty, would you and Craig now believe the thousands of people who claim to have seen him raised from the dead? Of course not. You'd immediately recognize that it is far more plausible that someone lied, and these people are all mistaken.

Jesrael K Mani Good points. Skeptics (like James) and enemies (like the Apostle Paul (also an intellectual heavyweight)) claimed to have seen Jesus after his death, and sincerely believed that he had been raised from the dead. Also, prophecies provide even more substantiation to Jesus being the Jewish Messiah. Daniel 9:24-27 states that an anointed one (the Hebrew word “mashiach” is used, which means Messiah) must come before the destruction of the 2nd temple. Jesus fulfilled that. If Jesus did not fulfill that then nobody can because the Romans destroyed the temple in 70 AD. Isaiah 53 clearly describes Jesus as the Messiah. There are many more, but I particularly like those two.

Dd S Dr Craig gave great reasons as to why he thinks god exists. If you have a problem with anything he said or would like to address them then say it instead of attacking him for his beliefs. He’s a great person and has a very likeable personality.
@romantisanon46475 жыл бұрын
@Dd S Craig doesn’t stick his fingers in his ears and ignore objections, he takes them head on and gives counter arguments _(especially_ when it comes to the Kalam argument). He talks to and debates with physicists all the time. He’s not ignorant when it comes to physics or cosmology. And of corse just because something is theoretically true doesn’t make it actually true. But accepting theories that are likely and plausible is rational. Far more rational than just shooting down a likely theory because it might not be absolutely certainly true in reality. Really take the time to actually listen to Craig. He never states he can _prove_ the existence of God with 100% certainty, but he believes that available evidence makes it more likely that the existence of a God is true as opposed to the nonexistence of one. He has already addressed every objection you’ve listed at one time or another. He’s not a “con man,” “sophist,” or lair. If you want a con man, look at Peter Popoff or Robert Tilton. Listen to Craig with an open, unbiased mind and I’m sure you’ll find that he makes a lot of sense.
@romantisanon46475 жыл бұрын
Dd S I’ve been listening to/reading Craig for years and I’ve _never_ heard the “well they just don’t want to bow to God” argument come from him. Either stop straw-manning or show me where he did this. He keeps giving the same arguments because no one is able to sufficiently beat them in debate. In every debate I’ve ever seen him in, his opponents misunderstand or misrepresent Craig’s argument. His opponents often have a lot of bravado and change subjects frequently during his debates. This can make it _look_ like Craig is losing, but when you weigh both sides equally, Craig usually comes out on top. Craig doesn’t say his arguments work because he says they work. They work based off their own merit. If you look at Craig’s arguments on their own and actually understand them, they become hard to object too. I’m sure you’ll disagree with this, but I don’t really want to talk you through every argument ranging from Kalam to the Moral, so I’d recommend taking a philosophy class, listening to his more in-depth lectures, or doing some self reflection.

As a former atheist, I pretty much fell for all the common New Atheist slogans about religion. “There’s no evidence for the supernatural”, or “science has refuted God”, or whatever other stuff you read about in books like The God Delusion. There was a time when I was a major proponent of Richard Dawkins and Sam Harris and all them. But after encountering the rich, intellectual tradition within the Christian faith - People like Bill Craig and Ed Feser, both of whom Ben have had on - all these New Atheists began to look intellectually paltry in comparison; not to mention, they were all very angry. They’re arguments didn’t hold up, and they began to appear more like children in a temper than sincere seekers of truth. I’ve mentioned this in a previous comment, but I’ll say it again. The real debate is not between religion and atheism. The real debate is between religion 1 and religion 2, etc; between Judaism and Christianity and Islam, and so on; specifically, not over whether religion is true, but *which* religion is true. KZbin conversations like these are only the beginning. If anybody here hasn’t read the published work of Dr. Craig - especially the Blackwell Companion to Natural Theology - I highly recommend doing so. Dr. Craig is scholarly, honest, and convincing. It might surprise him to hear that his work in large part lead me to the Catholic Faith, since he is not himself a Catholic. But still, I hold Dr. Craig in high regard as a philosopher and theologian, and value his contributions to the study of religion enormously. He changed my life.

I first became interested in natural theology, thinking that might help answer some of my questions, so books like the Blackwell Companion, which I mentioned, but then going back through all the classic theistic philosophers like Aquinas, Leibniz, Clarke, etc, and contemporaries like Lonergan, Feser, Stump, Adler, Craig, Spitzer, Pruss and so on. I'll also give a nod to C.S. Lewis. Though his work is more popular and accessible, he presents his arguments clearly, and so he opened me up to wanting to go deeper on the subject, even if he didn't immediately secure my conviction.

(responding to argument that another Messianic figure has followers who claim he's still alive) 😁 BOOM! (Craig's smile is his confidence.) The best argument for Jesus's divinity is his resurrection from the dead because it proved he was Who he said he was! It's not just that He claimed to be Messiah, but that He ALSO claimed to be Son of Man prophesied by Daniel, and God vindicated him by His resurrection! The empty tomb is the validation. Martin Stu even if your theory is true, which is not, then you too are worshipping your own ego. Which in turn led you to write the comment to begin with. Now, usually, a believer truly believes for a good reason. There’s some type of evidence; metaphysical, philosophical or a combination of these partnered with science. Then when a believer comes to belief they begin to search or seek out the creator and Christians specifically usually have to die to themselves, kill their ego, and submit to an understanding that isn’t their own. Now contrast that with you. You don’t believe, not because of evidence or even a lack of evidence. You simply don’t believe because you think you know better. You elevate your understanding over others’ and reduce their belief as a fantasy. Your ego is your god, one day your ego will perish and so will you. It will literally be non existent therefore closer to a fantasy than any religion could be. Meanwhile the Judeo Christian God maintains throughout the ages.

Israel is being set up for a betrayal. The goal is for a temple in Jerusalem and become the world capital (the west must be destroyed first); it is a matter of Israeli nation security and reports show military engaging online with false channels, accounts, blogs, bots and shills, no doubt pushing untenable, unbiblical disinfo like Preterism, preteib rapture, Dispensationalism, etc while other groups push legalism as warm up for when the false prophet posing as Elijah renews the old Sinai covenant marriage [which in the Torah came with the name/mark of the Lord sealed in the head and hand of the congregation as symbolized by the tefillin worn over these areas marked with the name Shaddai], he will also renew the Mosaic laws, sacrifices (buying and selling in the sanctuary with the money-changer and merchants) the temple, etc, as anticipated by the rabbis. See the blog link atop my channel for deep studies too lengthy to post here. See Jerusalem Post article from 2017 titled, “Israel and the unexpected New World Order” for a partial revealing of the global plan.

Recent FOIA revelations showed Israel’s ministry of strategic affairs illegally funding so-called Christian groups in US pushing hasbara beneficial to Israel’s plans (probably with the 10s of billions of US tax dollars and billions from Christian donations). They have highly sophisticated mass spy/monitoring tools and are masters of deception, cointel, psyops, etc and cooperation of most big companies and govts. Preterism (ie, Revelation is already fulfilled, go back to sleep!) is used to neutralize opposition to the plans, same with false teachings of pretrib rapture, dispensationalism, and law/sabbath keeping which is warming up people for a return to the old Mosaic laws and covenant in defiance of the new and better covenant (which is THE major stumbling block and must also be corrupted and/or removed). My original post (in another place) was ghosted so I had to edit it several times. While doing that I suddenly received an email with the header: "Erik, protect your online life from prying eyes" Yeah that's not creepy and just a coincidence for sure. So I doubled-down :) Grace, Love and Strength in Yeshua Jesus

Even though they don’t believe in him as the messiah. Dennis, love the guy, this interview reminds me of Dennis’ face when we spoke biblical truth that directly challenged his worldview. And like Ben. Dennis was silent. And didn’t have a proper retort. It’s amazing how proud the Jewish people are. I mean it’s historically evident how proud they are. As I listened to Dr.Craig's testimony, I cried tears of joy and gratitude. Every Christian testimony is as unique as the person, but they all have that same power- every believer knows! When he described the balloon of joy, I recalled my own experience which I have described as God "squeezing my heart." It was both gentle and powerful. The love is overwhelming and indescribable. I have followed William Lane Craig since I was a student at Biola 20+ years ago, and enjoyed his debates. I love how he makes intelligent arguments and displays how Christianity doesn't require you check your brain at the door; rather, we can present solid historical, philosophical, and moral arguments with skeptics. But I love how he "brings it home" with his personal story. That is the closing argument. This is a brilliant example of how to evangelize respectfully. I love how Dr. Craig was respectful of Ben and his perspective as an orthodox Jew. I love both these men and pray they continue to lead people to the Truth.

Derek He is very popular in religious debate and does have a tremendous amount of work out there, but in my opinion as far as mainstream he doesn’t get the exposure he deserves precisely because of his beliefs and the arena he inhabits. The secular community doesn’t want to hear it. Bens platform is more mainstream per’se even though he is religious because he is in the political arena and is known for his short clips of “destroying” people. I would also contend that Ben's comment that the earliest gospel was likely written around 70 AD (the destruction of the Jerusalem temple) is no longer regarded as accurate by many New Testament scholars (Bart Ehrman, notwithstanding). All of the gospels includes descriptive language of the temple, and not one mentions the destruction by the Romans, which one would think a significant event in Judeo-Christian antiquity and worth recording.

And the fact that the gospels were written closer to the dates of the events, thousands of more copies of those writings, and with a higher accuracy, than virtually any other writings we have from antiquity.
