William Shakespeare's 'Macbeth': Act 1 Scene 6 Analysis

notes Act 1 Scene 6 the calm before the storm .Duncan arrives at Macbeth's castle completely unaware of the plotting & scheming occurring inside ."castle hath a pleasant seat; the nimbly and sweetly recommends itself unto our gentle senses " - praises the beauty of where he's to be murdered & speaks warmly to Lady Macbeth .Duncan feels safe so Lady Macbeth's incredibly skilled at looking like the flower but being the serpent under't .final image- honoured hostess leading the King by the hand essentially to his own grave- dramatic irony .Duncan's presumption that Macbeth rode ahead in speed to prepare for his kingly visit is partly true but we know he wanted to prepare for Duncan's murder, not his reception summary: Duncan, the Scottish lords, and their attendants arrive outside Macbeth's castle. Duncan praises the castle's pleasant environment, and he thanks Lady Macbeth, who has emerged to greet him, for her hospitality. Duncan then asks to be taken inside to Macbeth, whom he professes to love dearly.

in romeo and juliet, when juliet first finds out romeo killed her cousin, she also says "o serpent heart hid with flowering face". seems like shakespeare learnt a metaphor and liked it very very much LOL
