Thanks for the serious film. Bill Shatner and all the rest, good acting and a credible plot. Most appreciated the moral tone. Worth watching. Shatner was a better actor than I ever gave him credit for.

Mr. Shatner started acting when he was six years old. He has never had a paycheck for anything other than acting. He barely had any of those periods of unemployment that many actors suffer through. He was named the most promising actor at the Stratford Festival in Montreal where he understudied Christopher Plummer. He has received plaudits and awards throughout his career. During this period, he was seen all the prestigious tv shows of the 50s and early 60s. It really isn't accurate to measure him by one role - or even minutes-long clips of one role. Star Trek was happy to get him to replace Jeffrey Hunter. And after that, after that crazy period of doing theater after Trek, Shatner was hopping around as a guest star on a lot of TV shows. He had an excellent reputation. All those casting directors and producers and directors, including George C. Scott who hired him as the lead in The Andersonville Trial, couldn't have been crazy.

Oh my goodness!! So many of my favorites here. The huge and hunky Chuck Connors (and who can forget that craggy face in Branded - like some stony Easter Island statue), Ben Gazzara who wrestled on the floor with John Cassavetes on the Dick Cavett Show, Richard Carlson who was everywhere - and of course, looking almost supernaturally gorgeous, Bill himself. We shouldn't forget what a well-established actor he was long before Star Trek, which is how he got the gig (and Jeffrey Hunter was just too dull - the show needed Shatner's Shakespearean histrionics during those tense Klingon moments).

I actually laughed out loud when I saw Ed Platt sitting on the bench. I just will never see him as anyone but the Chief of Control. 😊 Pretty sad really as he was obviously a great actor.
